The Perfect Napa Getaway – Luxury, Relaxation, and Fun All in One

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Meritage Resort and Spa is hands down one of the best places I’ve stayed in Napa. The property is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and super comfortable. The pool area is amazing—plenty of space, great service, and a perfect spot to relax. The spa, built into a cave, is next-level. My massage was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the whole atmosphere was incredible. Food and drinks were excellent across the board, and the Crush Bar & Bowling Alley was such a fun surprise—modern lanes, great cocktails, and really good food. What really sets this place apart is the staff. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful, and genuinely cared about making our stay great. If you’re looking for a Napa getaway that has it all—luxury, relaxation, great food, and even some fun extras—this is the spot. We’ll definitely be back!

I stayed at the Meritage for three nights for a family event. It was much more than my normal hotel budget, even for places in London or New York, so I was expecting a 5 star experience. It was not. It is situated literally in the middle of vineyards miles from anything, which some might find desirable. Upon arriving, the desk clerk did not welcome me, but immediately demanded to see my ID. I gave her my ID, and checked in. The initial charge was for $300 more than my confirmation, and I was told that they hold an additional $100 a day for incidentals, which I found exhorbitant, but I was told those were the rules. I recently returned from London, and there had been a £50 hold for a 7 night stay, which they kindly did not charge when I questioned it. The view from the room was the roof of the adjoining building, and the noise from the air conditioning was very loud. I opened the window to get some fresh air so I could turn off the A/C, but there was some sort of condenser outside that was equally noisy. The room was clean and orderly, but certainly not worth the cost for me. I had a good nights sleep despite the noise, as the bed was comfortable. The shower was discouraging. In order to turn it on, you have to be in the shower, and subject yourself to a couple of minutes of cold water until it warms up. There is no way to turn on the shower without being in the stream of water. The shower was okay, but not what I would call powerful. The room included a Keurig coffee maker and paper cups and wooden sticks, instead of ceramic cups and spoons, which I would think more fitting to a hotel that charges as much as this one does. Normally, I would not have my room made up daily, but for the daily cost I was paying, I decided to do so. I hung the towels up hoping that they would not be exchanged, but unlike places in Europe, there seemed to be no impetus to be kind to the environment. I did not have a car, so I walked to the hotel owned coffee shop, for a $9 coffee and to the hotel owned grocery store for a $8 juice. The prices were not shown on the shelves, which should have tipped me off. I did not eat at the hotel other than family events, so I can’t comment on the food. My room was not cleaned after the first night, so I asked for more water, as two bottles of water were to be provided each day. I took the empty bottles to the desk asking for more, but they said they would send some up, which they never did. In reviewing my folio at checkout, I was charged a daily self parking fee. I didn’t have a car (uber both ways) so I asked that charge to be removed much to the chagrin of the desk staff. I asked if they always charge that, and they said, yes unless someone asks for it to be reversed. So beware of additional fees if you stay here. Review your folio.

Excellent meal or focaccia, burrata, rigatoni, and carbonara. Ended with a delicious affogato.

Eunice, our server was very good at explaining the menu. Sweet, helpful, prompt, and all the qualities to enhance our evening meal at Olive and Hay.

Great Place

A beautiful property though the ownership group really needs to invest in some cosmetic upgrades. Service was great and the staff enthusiastic. Great venue for the Blue Note Summer outdoor series. I will be back.
