LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort

Very nice resort and a gorgeous beach. Unfortunately, today on a gorgeous sunny day, the management would not put out umbrellas because there were a few very slight wind gusts and they were worried about the umbrellas blowing away. All up and down the beach at other resorts, people had umbrellas. Way too hot for me to lie in the sun without shade. Such a shame to be at a beach resort and not be able to sit on the beach. You think they’d have a better umbrella system that could withstand a little breeze. Many families with children were very disappointed along with those of us who don’t want to sit in the direct sun all day long.

Nice beach area with lounges and umbrellas. Staked flags for service that barely worked, and even though it was known the flags didn’t work, they were continued to be used with an “oh well” attitude. Our room was dirty upon arrival. Cheeto and sand on the floor. Texting the issue resulted in a “we’re sorry” response, yet not attention to the issue. I washed the floor and gave the evidence to housekeeping and was again with an apathetic response. The room service food was satisfactory, yet no thought or consideration beyond what was explicitly asked for. (Condiments, cutlery…) Awkward and dangerous meanderings getting through the restaurant with a bottleneck and stairs to get to our wing. Tiki bar service was inattentive and had discrepancies with pricing between online, posted on wall, and handheld menu. Again, oh well. Maisey was wonderful in her service and good cheer! I will also call out Colton and Chase on the beach for the most superb service, being personable and professional. (Not haphazard and rude as a couple others.) Also, Valet service and Drew for Bell Hop excelled. For the price, I’ve had better and am very unlikely to stay here again.

My childhood friend and I recently spent 3 lovely days at Laplaya. Everything was wonderful including the beachfront location, room and restaurant. But what truly stood out to me was the staff. Throughout the hotel everyone was so genuinely friendly and hospitable. Most memorable for me was Theresa, my massage therapist at SPa Terre. From greeting to goodbye, Theresa emanated warmth and good vibes. Her healing hands sent me off with the perfect finish to a most memorable vacation.

La Playa accommodations, service, beach, and pools are fantastic! The vibe is luxurious without pretension. We feel comfortable and taken care of. We have a lovely balcony overlooking the beach, and the view is beautiful. What keeps me from a 5 star rating is some lacking amenities. There is coffee and muffins for sale in the restaurant bar area in the morning, but no coffee bar or snack shop at any other time. If you have a taste for an iced coffee, snack, or treat at night, there are no options: the Tiki Bar and pool areas close at dusk, and there's only a fancy restaurant for dining. There are no walkable shops, either. We came during March Madness and were looking for a place to watch a night game. There is no TV/ bar area since the Tiki closes early, and our TV reception on the 2nd floor was absolutely terrible. La Playa offers lovely pool and beach areas, but it's missing a simple coffee and snack shop that would make the stay more comfortable.

This resort stay was wonderful! Th property is luxurious and intimate, with easy access to the beach and amenities. The service was also outstanding. Specific shout outs to Nicholas and Igor. Nicholas is one of the managers and took care of us the entire time with such friendliness. He made our stay! And Igor helped us out at the pool and beach and was so delightful to always help! He would make a great server with his helpful and positive towards the guests.
