We just returned from a three night stay at The Hermitage Hotel. It’s an incredible hotel. We looked carefully at the other possibilities- The Four Seasons and the JR Marriott. We chose The Hermitage for the following reasons: 1) a historic classic Beaux Arts 1910 hotel, totally modernized, with an enormous WOW lobby with the mist beautiful ceiling we’ve ever seen. They have afternoon tea served there with a pianist, too! It’s only 122 rooms/suites: the hotel never feels crowded. The entry level room we booked is 490 sf. We booked through the Chase Saphire Reserve Luxury Visa program and luckily received a double upgrade to a junior suite. Absolutely courageous! The location is terrific. About .6 mile to the hustle and bustle of the Broadway bars and the important sites like The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Roman Auditorium. We received excellent pre-trip planning and service from Jordan Tolliver Director of Guest Services. 2) The other major reason is one of the very top NYC chef,s - Jean-Georges runs the food service here. They have the more casual The Pink Hermit( where we had three lunches) and Drusie & Darr where we had our breakfasts and two dinners. The food, service, presentation is first rate. EaterNashville thinks highly of Drusie & Darr and we saw many non-hotel patrons eating and getting the delicious coffee at The Pink Hermit. A terrific hotel experience in Music City

This was my first-ever stay at a five-star hotel, and I expected an unparalleled experience, but it fell far short. When I arrived two hours before check-in, I was told my room would be ready soon, and I was promised a call or text. After returning at 3:50 p.m., no one had contacted me. The room, when we finally got it, was dated—peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, broken dispensers for soap and shampoo left in place, and a double-paned window by the bathtub filled with black mold. For a luxury property, this is completely unacceptable. Additionally, the attached café, Pink Hermit, run by executive chef Jean-Georges, was a letdown. We arrived at 6:10 a.m., just after opening, but the coffee was ready, yet the pastries were not served until nearly 6:30. I expected far more precision and care. This stay did not live up to its reputation, and I would not return!

The hotel’s location was excellent, just about a quick 8 minute walk from Broadway and surrounded by many great restaurants. The staff were wonderful: friendly, professional, and always very helpful. The hotel itself was spotless and well maintained. We had a great stay and would definitely choose this hotel again.
