Reviews for Grand Hyatt Baha Mar

Beautiful resort, but…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 hours ago

The resort itself is beautiful, with great access to multiple pools and a stunning blue ocean. However, it’s extremely crowded with kids, and the food is outrageously overpriced for very mediocre quality. We’re talking Applebee’s-level restaurants charging $25–$40 per person for an entrée. A basic soft-serve ice cream that would cost a few dollars at McDonald’s is $15 here, and every topping costs extra. The overall food quality, especially the protein, is very low for the prices they charge. If you’re coming here, be prepared for a lot of people flexing and being extremely tacky, and for food that is average at best. Taxis to go into the city are expensive as well, easily $50 per ride, but still worth it if you want better food and value. Know what you’re getting into before you book

Wonderful

Been here before our favorite hotel. And the desk representative Martique was so pleasant and efficient for this visit in 2026. She was very accommodating.

Get ready to break the bank!

I visited Baha Mar after Christmas and into the New Year. I knew it would be pricey, but truly nothing could prepare me for just how pricey a stay there is. And not even at one of the nicer hotels on the property! I knew we were in trouble when I asked the concierge at check in about the nearest grocery store, and she ignored my question and referred me to the on-site convenience store--where, for reference, a 10 pack of baby bel cheeses cost $24! There is stiff competition for resources there as well--you better be up early if you want to get chairs at the pool or the beach, or be ready to pony up for rented chaises/cabanas. If you leave your things unattended on a chair for 45 minutes, staff removes your things. The chairs are so packed in everywhere, it's almost like you are in theater seats. The pools are beautiful, and the water park is an experience, but it truly felt like we were on a stationary Cruise ship, or some kind of mall. There are loads of restaurants on-site, but for the cost (exorbitant--and as a lover of food, I have no problem with spending money on a great meal), not a one was worth it. The best thing I ate all week was the oatmeal from one of two Starbucks on site. The only way I would consider going back would be if the stay were somehow free, to maybe be able to spend some money on some of the experiences off site to really experience the Bahamas. A few positives- the Fortune Pool bar was very cool. The pool with the high jumps and fish tanks were also cool. When we did venture off site to grab some groceries, the staff made sure we weren't ripped off by the taxi driver. It's also very close to the airport, which I was grateful for after a day of flight delays. In short, this place has all the bells and whistles, and if straight up consumerism is your thing, go for it. If you're looking for a relaxing low key trip, opt for somewhere else.

Missed the mark

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 15 hours ago

The grounds and hotel are beautiful and well maintained. The sand is soft and water breathtaking. Be aware that you will need to pay for a chair if you want one pool side. The casino is nice and has a good variety of machines, tables. It is very clean and well maintained. The food and drinks though is where they miss the mark. Drinks are $25 a person and you have to stand in long lines to get one. There isn’t anyone to take drink or food orders unless you pay for a cabana which I is disappointment and is a given at most higher end resorts. Food is well below average. The prices are high which would be ok if the food quality matched. The Italian restaurant was below average. They had very little sauce and the filling in the pasta was almost non-existent, very disappointing. Shang Ba was the only restaurant I would recommend, better to just go to Stix where you can walk up and order, better food than the restaurants requiring reservations. The water park was great and we had fun on the slides and in the lazy river, although none of the water park pools were heated so they were very very cold. The rest of the pools on the resort are heated which is nice as the weather was a little cold. We travel multiple times a year to beaches all over the world and this one misses the mark. The water is beautiful but that is the location, not the resort. Would recommend an all inclusive over this place
