Grand Hyatt Baha Mar

Just arrived at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and so far I love it!! Martiqua at the front desk checked us in & was amazing! Highly recommend staying here.

Since the moment we walked into the Grand Hyatt it was a spectacular stay! We were greeted so warmly from Kyle T at the check in desk! He was so kind and gave us all the ins and outs of the resort and answered all our questions. He was even able to get us into our room early, with an upgrade! Thank you Kyle! From the start he set the tone of the trip. From there on out all the people we encountered who worked there were so friendly and attentive. Bars and restaurants had great service: we had a wonderful time and will be back!

It was painfully obvious the goal of this resort is to take in money. They've got a tight casino that gives nothing back, resort fees that don't really get you anything, and mediocre service. No shows. They have some activities that cost additional. The pools were lovely, but close at 5. My friend and I were in the pool/ hot tub that connect sharing a wall where the hot tub overflows into the pool, she was standing in the pool side leaning up against the hot tub wall talking to me while I was in the hot tub side also leaving up against the wall. At 5, the life guard was leaving and made her get out of the pool, but everyone in the hot tub was allowed to stay for some reason. During a day at the beach, we wanted to use paddle boards and kayaks, there were only 2 paddle boards and 3 kayaks being used yet there was a stand with about 10 more just sitting there, we asked to use them and we're told that they were all broken! We attempted to watch the live Jazz music before our dinner reservation. 95% of the seats were vacant yet we were told we couldn't go in unless we had a reservation, but we could sit at the bar. We decided to sit at the bar and when we attempted to do so, they wouldn't allow us to go in with our drink in hand. We then waited outside while my husband finished his drink quickly so that we could go in, we finally were able to go in and sat at the bar and within 5 minutes a security guard walked up to us and told us that we couldn't sit at the bar unless we purchased a drink!!!! We left. We then went to our dinner reservation at the Italian restaurant, i think it was called Leoli, our table wasn't ready, again there were ample vacant tables inside, the hostess made us stand at the hostess table to wait, we stood there for 15 minutes. This same thing happened the night before at the restaurant with the coy fish. Once sat, we promptly ordered, it was over an hour until our appetizers came out, and only half of our table got theirs while the other half waited another 10 minutes for theirs. First course and second course eventually came out at the same time, resulting in second course getting cold. We had three birthdays at the table and let the waitress know, she brought out 3 plates that were empty except for a single candle on each, the bottom of the candle was melted to the plate to get it to stand up. The most expensive restaurant at the resort and for birthdays, you bring our a single candle melted to a plate, disgraceful!!!!! The room was nice and the elevators were fast. However, in the bathroom, the for to the toilet is clear glass with very little frosting, quite awkward when trying to share the bathroom to get ready. For the cost of this resort, I expected the service level to be top of the line, sadly, it was the opposite. We were a group of 10, several times we found ourselves in a restaurant or venue where there were ample tables or seats, however we were not permitted to sit together. Also, letting solicitors roam the beach to try and sell goods was obnoxious, they were blowing shirtless and chanting their sales pitch, even the constant sounds of the jet ski going back and forth to attract customers was the opposite of the peaceful and serene experience one would expect.
