VALUE NOT ON PAR WITH COST

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 hours ago

The upfront cost just to book the stay (rate per night) was comparable to many all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and I knew it wasn't all inclusive. However, upon arrival, they will debit your credit card $200/day per room for incidentals. Again - comparable. Where the value is lost compared to the cost comes when you arrive and start to make use of the on-site dining options. We were a family of (3) adults and (1) child under 2 years. It's not an exaggeration to expect a meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) to run in excess of $350-$400. NOTHING is complimentary other than (4) bottles of warm water left in your room each day by the cleaning staff. They have in-room mini-bar refrigerators, but the items are outrageously expensive to the point that during check in, they warn you multiple times to be careful because the cost can quickly spiral out of control. So - you're thirsty? Well, plan on a long walk to find a cold beverage and when you do, prepare to pay a small fortune. Two cans of soda and a bottle of water = $23.00. The place is enormous, full of ammenities which was great. However, need directions or assistance from Guest Services? Be prepared (no matter which desk you go to our which associate you stop) to feel like you're bothering them. Horrible guest service experience. I've stayed in multiple resorts in the Carribean and I can tell you Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is over-priced - WAY overp-priced. The total cost of the trip was more than an all inclusive trip I took a year ago to Excellence Resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Expect to pay a lot of money for poor customer service. Do not eat at Marcus Samuelson's restaurant unless you like being treated like a piece of trash. Beach water was beautiful though. Jetski rental harassment by "Roger" needs to stop.

Great experience

From the time we arrived to the time we left, the staff took really good care of us. The only bad part was the $6k I lost in the casino after winning $2k. SMH

Junk fee paradise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

Get ready for some gut wrenching junk fees, service charges and mandatory gratuities. The property is ok, and the resort is fine, but the prices and associated add on fees are deplorable. The fees just never end. Resort fee of $80/day is laughable, and assorted other undefined taxes are a disapointment, but the kicker is also mandatory tipping on everything! I would never return to this place.
