FEMALE OWNED AMAZING TRANSPORTATION

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Utia was the absolute best - she provided so much more than transportation. From recommendations on what to do, to educating us on the history of the island & the buildings that surround us. Truly would come back to The Bahamas just to work with her and her team again!

Vast & beautiful resort, but outrageously expensive for eating

Grand Hyatt Baja Mar is an absolutely gorgeous hotel property, but massive in size (like a mini Vegas where it’s a long walk to everything with casino down the middle). It’s kept meticulously clean (even the many restroom huts by beach and pools) and the staff are super friendly with great service. Now for the downside: ridiculously expensive for dining (Rigatta breakfast buffet was $55 pp; Leola was $48 for a rigatoni dish and the only Chardonnay by the glass was $80 - no thank you, had rose instead!) and typical tropical cocktails are $17 and up with no booze in them. Everything has a 15% service charge automatically applied (plus VAT). We did have an outstanding dinner at Cleo Mediterranean and excellent breakfast at Cafe Madeleine, which I highly recommend. Unfortunately you’re completely captive on the resort for dining; first night we had reservations at a restaurant downtown and then learned that the bus shuttle stops around 5-6pm when the cruise ships leave, and to take a taxi is $40 round trip so not worth it for a dinner off property. There were hoards of people here - tons of babies, little kids and then high school and college kids on spring break, so very noisy and all chairs at beach and pool claimed by early morning. We learned fast and then saved spots by 7am! We enjoyed our time, but won’t be back due to exorbitant cost.

We absolutely love this hotel! Upon check in, martigua made the process so smooth and easy and made sure we got our room right away! Food here is always amazing! You definitely get what you pay for! Extremely clean!

Fantastic mother/daughter trip at Baha Mar

The resort is stunning, so much attention to every detail! The beach, pools, restaurants, and staff were spectacular! We had the most amazing stay! Shout out toTyesha at the front desk. She was so friendly and accommodating, we really appreciate her! She made us feel so special, she couldn't be a better first impression to our stay at Grand Hyatt!

Go for the beach, not the food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I went with my father in his late 60s and my sister (we’re in our early 30s). Restaurants - Cleo- food was good Sugar factory - gross food that is clearly prefrozen and heated up in the microwave. Don’t go here Stix - no complaints. Overall decent quick service restaurant The Palm Cafe - the beef burger was a prefrozen patty - get takeout from the Swimming pig instead - much better quality. Poke - gross do not try if you’re used to poke in a coastal US city The Swimming Pig - good American type food. Not Amazing but acceptable. Carna- best restaurant we tried. Still not as good as what you get in the states, but overall best food. Katsuya - sushi was good. Everything else was not. Only go here for the sushi Pizza Lab - serves GF pizza with dedicated oven. Regatta- 45 per person for the buffet. Only worth it if you eat a lot. Otherwise go to an à la carte place. Cafe Madeleine - bagels, has a GF muffin. Vegan chia pudding which was good. Like any beach resort, be prepared to pick up towels EOD in order to reserve chairs when you wake up between 7-8. Pros - Beautiful resort - Great gym with anything you need - Gym classes - Big enough with things to do but never too long of a walk to get anywhere - Texting the hotel makes things way convenient when you have questions or need something - Nice pools and water park - Beautiful beach with umbrella service - We enjoyed the birds, flamingoes and tortoises Cons - Beach was beautiful although there is engine noises from motor boats and such. Not very quiet. Lots of solicitors which lowers the tranquility - Although they market themselves as dietary restriction friendly, not all restaurants are thorough. My sister has a gluten allergy. Our waitress at the swimming pig gave us misinformation and the waitress at Katsuya wasn’t accommodating. - The food is not good. Don’t come here for the food if you’re used to NYC or Los Angeles food. You come here for the beach. The prices for food are high but yet the quality is lacking. A lot of it felt like airport quality food. There is also inconsistency between food quality at restaurants. For example the octopus at Cleo was good whereas the octopus at Katsuya was cold and rubbery. - At the Hyatt, don’t assume your room will be cleaned by 3pm when you want to head back and get ready for dinner. I had to text them every day to make sure it was cleaned when I wanted it to be serviced by.
