The only hotel in Europe built on stilts, the Palafitte enjoys an exceptional setting. Each one of its 40 rooms is a spacious individual bungalow. The exclusive architecture gives the guest a feeling of escape, inside and out. Besides the individual bungalows, the hotel comprises of a large lobby, which has been newly renovated in harmony with the architectural style of the location, a reception, bar, smoking room and a restaurant with a large terrace. The restaurant has been recently renovated and renamed "La Table de Palafitte". The new décor accentuates the main assets: the view over the lake and the Alps. The cuisine favours local market produce. Besides the classic dishes that are available throughout the year, the menu is tailored to the seasons.

Built on piles into the lake, a unique overnight experience awaits in a room with a sophisticated, water-theme-oriented interior with a view from all angles of the lake with the wonderful Alpine scenery. However, individual positions would deserve a refresh.

The only thing that really left something to be desired was the air conditioning because it was very hot and it wasn't working properly, which made me sleep very poorly.

Second time we have stayed here. What a fabulous concept. The rooms are the size of a one bed apartment and very much a design experience. The staff are fabulous and couldn’t be more helpful. Great breakfasts. The main restaurant we are sure would be fabulous but the prices are eye watering, even by Swiss standards. Love the free travel pass and used it use the buses to explore downtown Neuchatel. Maybe try to find a way to discourage the seagulls from their very loud dawn chorus! We will return
