Reviews for Montpelier Plantation & Beach

A bit of paradise on the beautiful island of Nevis.

I can't say enough good things about Montpelier. Spacious room with excellent updated bathroom. The property is itself a botanical garden (as good as the Botanical Garden just down the road). Food is excellent with lots of variety. Private beach a short drive away that you have basically all to yourself with crystal clear water; lovely swimming pool. Wild donkeys and goats graze in an adjacent pasture, with a few monkeys running about. Tennis court if you play. Service is excellent, and you feel as though you have perfect privacy. This a classic Caribbean hotel run flawlessly.

Living on its past

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Came to conclusion this hotel is living on its past reputation. Should not be a Relais & Chateaux member in our view. Staff all very helpful but prices enormous & food not worth that. Room very nice with a lovely view plus the resident monkey troop great entertainment & also some goats that visit from nearby. Lovely pool area but not enough shaded areas or brollies.

Stunning place to stay. Staff so welcoming and friendly, room was spacious and airy and we could watch the hummingbirds from the terrace. Food at the hotel was excellent. Pool was lovely especailly at 4pm when tea and scones are served!

Wonderful ... special place like no other

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Had a long awaited break , the travel arrangements were seamless from UK to Hotel all transfers slick and people v friendly. Hotel is really beautiful, newly furnished and everywhere maintained to a high standard. Grounds stunning , pool gorgeous to relax around and also private beach ... we rented a car which suited us , otherwise you rely on shuttle am and pm . We were slightly disappointed that , sold as three restaurants , they weren't all open at the same time / in the evening, there was a rota of special functions ie. Paella, burger night , bbq .... we would have liked to have eaten at Indigo one evening for example , instead of the Terrace However food and service amazing. I asked for 0% beer , they didn't have it , as no call for it , apparently they had it in for another guest ... so we got our own from cash and carry, had it in the room. That offer could be improved. That said all staff .... especially housekeeping, breakfast team and garden peeps super friendly and chatty. Thanks to Managers ( Abbie and owner Muffin ) and front of house , nothing was too much trouble . Trip of a lifetime. Would highly recommend.Nevis is steeped in history and exploring that was fascinating.... Montpelier being one of the stops on the Heritage Trail.

The best boutique hotel we've ever stayed at.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Food: Excellent food. Breakfast is great. Lunch/Dinner: We preferred the lunch menu and tapas nights to the regular dinner menu but there's no way to be disappointed at any meal. The jerked mutton roti for lunch was a particular favorite of mine. Staff: The service here is exemplary. We favor boutique hotels so we're used to very good service but Monpelier's staff were exceptional even by those standards Rooms: Very nice indeed, great views of the extensive grounds Grounds/Buildings: Gorgeous. The grounds are well worth strolling around a few times. We got to enjoy a daily breakfast performance by humming birds, Bananaquits, Grassquits, and Antillian Bullfinches.

A fantastic experience. The Montpelier Plantation was not only beautiful, quiet and peaceful, but the staff was absolutely wonderful. It was probably the most relaxing getway I have ever had -- thanks to the great staff. If total relaxation is what you are looking for, Monpelier Plantation is the destination.
