Had the best time ever with our family. Loved everything about it. The owners go out of their way to provide everything you need Recommended to all. We’ll try and return very soon. The Fox is a great place to eat. Just need to book beforehand.

I have just spent a week (Monday to friday) at this wonderful farm. The owners and all the staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. The facilities are spot on and I haven't enjoyed myself so much away in a long time, relaxing, lots of things to do locally as well as walks around and about the farm, horses to cuddle, guinea pigs to cuddle in the cuddle barn, very reasonable honesty shop, bike hire and the stone baked pizza was delicious. Me and my husband took our 9 year old, who loved the space, the animals and the outdoors. The tents are well maintained and the fresh chicken eggs are to die for. Tent facilities are very good, do take a blanket in the winter but we were there just now in August 2022 so we were not cold, though it can be chilly in the morning. The Fox pub in the little village down the road is a wonderful place to eat and do take up the experience of grooming the horses and going to Bevistan Farm sheep milking (and lamb feeding and cuddles!) with Bev and Steve. All in all the experience was wonderful. Hannah and Will who own the farm are approachable, helpful and run a wonderful place. Thank you from the Yesson Family xx

We really enjoy our Featherdown breaks and this is one of our new favourites. The site is nicely laid out with lots of space for children to run around, with that rope swing a very popular activity! As others have said, it’s a short walk from the car park to the tents but we enjoyed stretching our legs and Hannah and Will will kindly drop your luggage down for you. There are lots of facilities that went above and beyond other Featherdowns with go karts available, bikes to hire, small animals petting area, horses to groom. Hannah and Will were really friendly and helpful and also went above and beyond, generously organising an Easter egg hunt for the children on Easter Sunday and providing an Easter gift of a free delicious cake. The pizza night was great with delicious pizzas and the honesty shop was well stocked. We loved the communal eating areas by the pizza oven and would be great to come with a big group and use the long table. We also liked the provision to have a small campsite fire by the tent and were lucky with the weather to provide it. We were sad to leave and definitely hope to return. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

My family (two adults and two young children) just had a fantastic week at New Barn Farm. We loved our tent location at the bottom of the hill, as it was a bit quieter and more secluded. It was also right next to the woods and rope swing, which our kids loved. We rented the private chicken coop and guinea pig for the week and both were entertaining and unique experiences. A highlight was the homecooked food by Hannah! The vegetable lasagna + summer berry crumble (special order) + ice cream the first night were perfect after our long cycle to the farm. Chicken and leek pie + key lime pie (both special orders) were fantastic on the second night. The Wednesday pizza night was good fun, as everyone gathered and enjoyed pizzas together, all efficiently ordered and cooked. The adults enjoyed conversation and the kids continued playing together, as they'd gotten to know each other by this point. The honesty shop was well-stocked with local meats, cheeses, milk, ice cream, snacks, and dry goods. Try the Bevistan Dairy sheep cheese! It was a longer walk than expected from the tents to the honesty shop/barn, maybe 500m? But that's partly due to being at the furthest tent. It seems the hosts are generally able to help ferry luggage back and forth in the Mule, so overall not an issue. We did the pony grooming and my kids enjoyed it, but I'm not sure it was worth the price. They've had experience with horses and ponies before and it wasn't anything too special. It only took 45 minutes tops. Probably would have been just as well to visit and pet the horses later at the barn. Recommendations - bring a camping stove to quickly boil water for morning coffee/tea, as the wood-burning stove can take a while to get going. Also consider bringing some cooking oil and salt/pepper if you'll be frying eggs. Wellies are a must, as it got muddy with the rain. Adventure idea - consider cycling to the farm! We took the train to Bedford station and then cycled to the farm, entering from the back via a bridleway. It was around 7 miles with some hills, but we managed fine with our loaded cycles. Traffic was steady but not crazy on a weekday. It was really satisfying to complete the journey both ways and a good challenge for the kids. This was our second Feather Down stay, and we can see each location has its own highlights. We'd certainly come here again for a quiet week out of the city where our kids are free to play independently and we can enjoy delicious homecooked meals (without all the work). Overall, highly recommended!

We just got back from a weekend stay at New Barn Farm. Having stayed at a number of Featherdown Farms, I have to say this is one of the best. I didn't know the area that well but the farm was surrounded by some beautiful countryside. On arrival the owner of the farm kindly ferried all our bags down to our tent in his trailer which was and unexpected and relaxing start to the holiday. The kids not only loved the access to all the lambs, sheep and collecting eggs from the chicken coop but the huge pedal go karts in the farm yard were a real hit too. Despite the wet weather my daughter adored grooming the ponies and both she and my son were in their element running free, exploring the woods and playing on the rope swing. The farm shop was also particularly well stocked. Our BBQ box on the first night was really generous with enough for leftovers the next day. The breakfast box was also brimming with goodies - including some delicious home made jam. I also heard from another family that the lasagna they had ordered was amazing too. The stone baked pizzas from the oven were really popular but I was really impressed at the organisation and speed at which all the orders were delivered to each family. Given this Featherdown is so conveniently located for us, I can definitely see us returning.
