Virgin Hotels New Orleans

The Virgin Hotel, one block from Poydras Street and a 15-minute walk to the French Quarter (like Royal and Conti), is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. Not only is the staff remarkable, Ryan B. and Demontae T. just to mention these two, but the decor is amazing. Immediately upon arriving in our room, we noticed how perfectly separated it was from the bath area. The shower and toilet closet are separated from the main bath area with a glass door to each, the toilet closet having its own tiny sink. In the main part of the bath area are the vanity, two separate closets (with automatic motion lighting) and each having a solid luggage floor with shelves underneath. The room is separated with double doors from the bath area. The beds are like mine at home....very very comfortable. We booked our rooms early for a weekend at Mardi Gras and the rates were amazingly low as we later discovered when comparing with other rentals. When we return to New Orleans, or are shopping in other cities for one, we will stay here again. I just can't say enough good things about our experience here at The Virgin Hotel!

Fun and artfully-decorated hotel with nice staff! Location good but a little quieter, which was good during the Mardi Gras season. The mattress was among the worst hotel mattress I have ever experienced (indented, especially on the more popular side, and sleeping on a slant the whole night; my partner and I were actually friendly-arguing over who got the worse side, though both were far from great). Breakfast was good and they had a gluten-free bread option (Mary the server was excellent!). Had a drink at the bar and the bar tenders were good. The room fridge was a Smeg, but it was completely full of mini bar items (great for those who want a well-stocked mini bar, but not as great for storing your own stuff). Rooms definitely on the small side, but had a nice window bench.

We had a very pleasant experience. The hotel and its staff were very good overall. This is not a complaint, but the dining options were limited and too fancy for what we prefer. Quail and duck seemed to be on both the breakfast/brunch and the lunch menus and we were very much just looking for a nice hamburger and fries.

The room was PERFECT for me and my friend. The dressing, shower, toilet area has a set of doors separating it from the bed. So there was lots of privacy. The bar was fine. It was too cold to enjoy the pool. Staff was friendly enough when you could find them. Often the Common Club host stand, Library barista and front desk were empty. We were there during an unseasonably cold time, so maybe people were more absent, huddled around heaters somewhere, than usual.

I loved my stay at this hotel. The hotel and room was beautiful and in a very posh, safe area. I found it extremely clean, although the shower faucets had some calcium buildup. The bed, for some reason had very little support and you kind of sunk into it. It didn't bother me as I don't mind a softer bed but this could be important for some people. Don't get tricked my the shower supplies listed on the "mini bar" price list. You will notice that along with the prices of water, chips, alcohol (all in the mini bar area), you will also find shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner for $55/bottle. This will make you think that if you use these, you will be charged a per bottle rate. I ordered DoorDash to deliver those for me from CVS as I was not wiling to pay their prices. I later found out that you are free to use their products and only if you chose to take the bottles home, that you would be charged. This is severely misleading as the price shows up on the mini bar prices list along with other items. Don't get tricked into thinking you already used the shampoo, so you might as well take it home as you'll be charged for them anyways.
