Blizzard 2/2026

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I got snowed in at 11 Howard. During the blizzard of February 2026, it extended my stay for 2 extra nights. The city of New York was shut down in a state of emergency. But the staff of 11 Howard carried on without missing a beat. The front desk was accommodating and responsive at every turn room service in the lounges at Matt's. But the staff was outstanding. Food was beautifully executed. I was stranded and spent my day in the lounge. As my travel companion worked online, my sketching kept me busy for hours till my pencils wore down. The front desk took my awkward request for a pencil sharpener. With the same professionalism, they ran the show. I was given an an electric sharpener for my stay with housekeeping, delivering with kindness.Well done staff, I will be back.

11 Howard NYC Soho - Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I have hung out/read books/enjoyed quiet time in the bars of this hotel on several occasions but only slept here for the first time during the December 2025 holidays. Sadly, despite much anticipation, I was profoundly unimpressed with this Marriott Design Hotels property. I will preface my next comments by saying that I had excellent pre-arrival assistance from one of the staff members. However, on arrival, I was shocked to discover that my upper-tier Marriott BonVoy Elite status did not unlock ANY (zero!) perks whatsoever. Not even the customary 4PM late checkout. All of this was courteously explained to me. I appreciated the courtesy. Then, the staffer surprised me by offering me a voucher for a complimentary breakfast. The staffer's kind gesture was much appreciated. Now about the accommodation. My room at 11 Howard was ridiculously and obscenely small, cramped, and overpriced. And, before fellow travelers remind me that "that's just NY" .... No, that is not NY. I have stayed in several other properties located within a 5-to-10-minute walk of 11 Howard that have offered much more spacious rooms. On the plus side, despite the minuscule bathroom, the shower was great with consistently strong water pressure. My complimentary "full breakfast" was average - at best. Overall conclusion about this hotel - it seems to be discombobulated by its desire to be hip & happening. Not Recommended.

Bonvoy Members Beware

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Avoid this hotel if you want to receive the perks of Bonvoy membership. Was told by front desk (which Marriott customer service confirmed by citing the terms of service presumably hidden somewhere in small print) that because this hotel is a boutique hotel merely affiliated with Marriott the platinum elite benefits (like late checkout) are not extended to guests who assume when booking on the app that they are booking with a Marriott hotel.

Good but not great

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Stayed here for several days on a business trip, but with my family (wife and 3 year old). Everyone at the hotel is super nice. We got upgraded by one level because we are Marriott Ambassador status. The room was plenty big for NYC standards (unlike the Le Meridien on 5th). There is a desk to work in. Proper hardwood floors. Grown Alchemist products in the bathroom. The negatives of the hotel: - The mini fridge has no space for anything because it is stuffed with drinks for the minibar. - Breakfast isn’t included even with status - Breakfast is so so. Omelette is great, pancakes suck. The menu is also small so gets tiring after 1-2 days. - The bathroom is small. - The AC stops working after a certain time so the room can get hot at night. I love the location. I’d def stay here again because there are few good options in the Marriott program for NYC.

Good location, not worth the price though

Way overrated hotel. Sure- the attached French restaurant is nice and location nice, but rooms are tiny, halls are dark, and pricing crazy.
