Tiny rooms and long waits for elevator !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The rooms are tiny, we stayed for 4 nights and it was really uncomfortable with 2 suitcases. The breakfasts were really average and the wait for the elevators was awful, we had to walk down 18 flights of stairs one evening as all the cleaning staff were using them and one of the 3 elevators had broken down.

Gives Times Sq Hotels a Good Name

I usually avoid Times Square hotels because of the noise and chaos, but this little gem is tucked on 40th, closer to Garment District, and reviews reflected that it was quiet. I figured “quiet” for NYC in TSq would still involve traffic noise and dumpster dumping, but the soundproofing and location made this one of the quietest 4-Star hotels in NYC that I’ve stayed in (of 20+ hotels), including sound of A/C unit. Plus: spotless, modern, efficient and friendly. Oh, and good water pressure. Only down side is size of room. Fine for solo traveler for short trip but can’t imagine staying in regular King room with another person.

okay at best

Very unwelcoming and dead-pan staff. Lobby always so busy with the roof top bar. The hotel bar only has 3 seats. The bedding was extremely well worn, pulls and threads hanging out of the duvet cover, burn hole on the duvet itself. No assistance offered for any luggage.

ELEVATOR SITUATION WILL STOP ME RETURNING IM AFRAID

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel itself is a great location, lots of food places around the area and easy access into Times Square and subway. Rooms are clean, we had a great room with views on the 39th floor over looking One World trade centre. WOULD I COME BACK? I’m afraid not, the lift situation is absolutely ridiculous. Residents should be priority on an evening when the roof top bar is open. I have found myself having to wait 20 mins for a lift. Everytime one door opens, people are packed in like sardines going to and from the rooftop bar. I eventually forced my way into one and became a sardine myself as I was sick of waiting. No aircon in these packed elevators then it stops at every floor going down with disgruntled faces on the other side at the sickening site of another full elevator they can’t enter. I have had a great stay, this is my 2nd visit to NYC but unfortunately I won’t return to this hotel. I also asked a guy who was cleaning rooms for some toilet roll for our room. He never returned with it. I waited until next morning and had to call down early to reception to have some brought up.
