AVOID! They care more about fees than guests

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

AVOID! I reserved a room for $450/night at the Aliz hotel. When I tried to check-in at 1 pm, the clerk said that my room was ready but I couldn’t check-in early unless I paid an extra $65. My already expensive room was ready, but they wanted MORE money to let me start using it a few hours before official check-in time. What?!? The rest of my stay was consistent with a horrible hotel that cares more about collecting fees than it does about guest experience. The toilet was broken so the seat moved when I sat down. The lamp switch was broken so I needed someone to come with pliers to turn it off. This hotel was terrible and the manager (Jessica Matthews) was worse. With so many other hotels in NYC, there is no reason to ever stay at the Aliz hotel.

Good Rooms, Impersonal Staff, Crazy Security and Resort fee policy.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Nice hotel, no interaction from staff except the guy dealing with the baggage who seemed a decent person. Watch at check in as the Resort scam ( fee) and security fee has to be paid by card and if you try to pay with cash you will be shown the door even if the room was paid in advance. The Manager won't make any attempt to see you if asked for so don't waste your time doing that. The security deposit and so called resort fee should be paid in advance as a young woman in front of us didn't know she had to pay by card for that and was livid and nearly in tears too , Policy needs changed...

Great Location Upbeat Vibe

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This was my second stay at the property and it does not disappoint. I clocked a nice nine minute walk to Javits as well as to Times Square so the location is superb for business and leisure. Guest rooms have an efficient space plan for NYC Boutique. Overall vibe to Public Space is relaxing, not overly luxurious.

Great Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The location of this hotel is fantastic, it is literally just a 10 minute walk to Times Square and all the central attractions. The hotel itself is clean and functional. The bedrooms are small, we were 3 adults sharing 1 room and there wasn't really enough room for us and our luggage. We didn't thankfully spend much time in the room. The beds were also small double so not ideal for 2 adults sharing. There isn't a lounge in the hotel just to chill in, only the restaurant and 4 armchairs in the lobby which were nearly always occupied. The other downside are the elevators, there are only 3 and for a 40 floor hotel are not sufficient for the demand. You always had to wait 10+ minutes. If you just want a central NYC hotel with no frills then this hotel is ideal, its clean but basic. You do get a complimentary cocktail at the lobby bar and s $25 chip to spend in the hotel which is a nice gesture. The staff were all pleasant and friendly.
