Here's my experience from a Broadway weekend trip to NYC. Received a great anniv present of CHESS. All we had to do was book a hotel near the theater. Was booking in Aug for a Dec trip. We were astounded by the prices in the theater district. All the hotels were teetering and in some cases tipping over the $1000 per night range. So be it. We figure at the least, we would be getting a nice hotel for that $$$. So we picked the Aliz because we didn't have to pay until we arrived. Was over $800 a night. We were surprised the lobby was so small for a 40 story hotel. Basically 2 small desks for arrivals. Also, right in the lobby was their 3 seat bar. Was sort of quirky and tight fitting. Got to our room and was stunned by it's starkness and.....coldness. It looked like a room with 4 small corners and a bed. TV was on the wall and a bathroom a chair for Little People and that was it. Our winter coats didn't fit in the closet & that 1 unbelievably inept, mini-business chair for the only seat in the room. What if we had a guest?...heh.....which we didn't. But....still. The non-glamour of the hotel took me aback. Now........there were some good points. The staff was very nice and helpful. That 3 seat bar was sort of cozy. I had a free drink, curtesy of Aliz and they also gave us a $25 chip for anything. That was used by my wife for the $31 buffet breakfast. Which she said was ok but nothing to write home about. What everyone was saying about the cleanliness was correct. The joint was sparkling in every hallway we ventured. Housekeeping was great but oddly there are no DO NOT DISTURB signs for the doorknobs. The housekeepers knocked on doors to see to clean. No complaints at all about the services. Of course the location was great. My only problem with this place was the room itself. I know, and understand that for a weekend in NYC, a room is pretty much, just a place to lay your head. Never spending much time in the hotel itself. Which, btw, was what we did. I just never expected, paying almost a thou a night would be rendered under that kind of category. That was disappointing. Unfortunately, never got to the famed rooftop lounge.. Is an interesting system for entrance. You can not get to it from your floor. You need to go to the 1st floor and have a hostess allow you to go up. Needless to say, you needed reservations. Ehh...too much to do and too little time in NYC.

Well situated near Times Square and the subway. Very clean. Staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. Rooms were small but that’s the same for most of the NY hotels. Only downside was the restaurant had a limited choice of food (pizza or burgers). Don’t bother going to the roof top bar. It’s not owned by the hotel and has hardly any seating, very expensive and rude staff.

Brittany & Latiesse Enhanced the Guest Experience!

Brittany was gregarious and pleasant upon check-in, immediately engaging with me once I walked through the doors and even striking up conversation in earnest. Check-in was conducted swiftly and she was very informative. Later that same day, Latiesse was equally pleasant and helpful. She was accommodating and afforded me a fun, sincere conversation. I could not be more pleased with your reception personnel and the warm welcome they curated during my stay! Well done!

Stay away

Rooms are very small , like u have to squeeze through for someone else to pass through. It’s really that bad. They take money off you when you check in and promise to refund after you leave, nope they don’t. $150 on tax per room Ridiculous. Breakfast is an absolute rubbish. A family of 6 with young children . Very disappointed and made our holiday not fun. We had to hire a car and drove to Canada at my sisters where we enjoyed the rest of our holiday and only drove back to this hotel a day before our flight back to the Uk. Never coming back!!!!
