Hyatt—Please rescue your once awesome now sad property

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Serious decline since 2010 opening. No better than a half the price Hyatt Centric now. Especially sad to see is the absolute travesty the management has allowed the original high style spaces to become shabby or even just closed off altogether. Hyatt Corporate needs to step in and fix this place. The potential is still there.

Friends Long Weekend in NYC

This is a little gem of a hotel in midtown New York. The rooms are I thought were well appointed and comfortable. Tall ceilings, quiet internally, of course city sounds outside. Modern and clean. Beds I thought were comfortable. I've stayed in other hotels in NYC, I think I'll come back to this one if they keep it up. The location is perfect, service is outstanding. The desk agents are excellent as well as housekeeping.

Tiny tiny rooms

Tiny rooms and not very friend staff. Even for nyc standards. No pic as it wasn’t even worth taking. Moved out early and still Charged me for a drink I didn’t take from the mini bar even after I told them and they agreed to take it off ar check out. I emailed them again after see my folio and received no responses. And I’m globalist.

The carpets in the hallway are dated and stained. Odd smell in hallway and entrance. Not up to standard, service was ok, not great. I would not come back

My Last Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I've been staying at this hotel for years as a Hyatt Globalist, with dozens of nights on property. This was my last stay. The hotel has slowly corporatized—the small touches and personal service that justified the price are gone. What's left is an expensive room and a transactional relationship with management. The final straw: my flight was canceled and I asked to move my (nonrefundable) night by one day. They refused (dismissively) and insisted I pay for a night it was physically impossible to arrive for. In all the nights I've spent here, it was the first favor I'd ever asked. I escalated on property and was told the policy stands. Globalist line also no help, blaming the hotel management. I understand the rules. But at $900/night, from a property that has had my (and many at my company's) loyalty for years, a single act of grace shouldn't be a stretch. If this is how they handle the first ask from a Globalist with their stay history, it's a clear signal about how they'd handle anything that actually went wrong on their end. There are better hotels within blocks—better rates, better service, and still standing on the personal touches this one abandoned. I won't be back.
