Avoid at all costs . Shambolic, dress code in bar includes collared shirts. Which they don’t tell guests about. Meaning I was denied entry to the hotel bar whilst wearing a black t shirt with a suit jacket. The host Henry was exceptionally rude . They really need to decide if they are a hotel or a bar. Beyond the shambolic bar situation. They gave me a 4pm check out. Which they cancelled without telling me. Meaning I had left the hotel for a meeting and then had to spend 25 mins negotiating to be able to get back into my room to collect my stuff. This really is 5 star prices with 2 star service and attitude.

I would have said it was great. Until I was so rudely dismissed by the coat check person, (I'll leave her name out as the manger knows) which left me with a completely different taste. Your busy I get it, but there is a way in which to deliver a message. She clearly either lacked training or just a sexist snob. But part of being a newly opened hotel is not being overwhelmed, rude and you need to treat everyone with the same respect. I was with a girlfriend and I know if I had been there with my husband I would not have been spoken to in that manner. There are plenty of trendy nice places to go in NYC so I would now tell everyone don't waste your time, next. One weak link in a team can ruin it all.

We wanted to try out a new luxury spot for an anniversary trip to NYC and had heard good things about the Miami property. We liked the idea of a new property and the size of the rooms seemed appealing. Positives: nice access to the Highline, some good shopping in meatpacking neighborhood. Beautiful, large rooms. Stayed in a regular king room which was huge by NY standards. The finishes were beautiful. Kind of like the Baccarat hotel but larger and the configuration of the separate vanity area, shower, and water closet/toilet was great. The Japanese toilet! Wow! The beautiful crystal and china, electronics, linens. Just a great room. The other positive -- the staff was really lovely and attentive. The front door staff in their funny suits are falling over themselves to be helpful and friendly and the front desk staff remember your names and were great. But we really couldn't figure out the vibe or exactly the demographic of who stays at this hotel. Certainly not a business hotel. And did not appear to be a "nice middle aged couple enjoying a show and some high end NYC restaurants/shopping" type of hotel. No, the vibe -- particularly at night when it appeared to turn into nightclub -- was more international -mafia-meets-mail-order-bride-vibe. Don't even think about being caught in jeans and a blazer after a casual dinner. Women were in 4 inch heels and cocktail dresses with everything plastic hanging out. Velvet ropes and security with earpieces. Just a very overdone kind of clientele. So you have to fight your way through that if you come back from dinner and (gasp) just want a glass of wine at the bar. You are met with "do you have a reservation" and attitude from the bartenders. Look, we are hotel guests, can we just get a damn drink?! It is waaaaay over the top. Just way too much. As much as I loved the room, not sure the other stuff meets our comfort level. Finally, we ate at La Boca for lunch. A beautiful setting. Food was good, not great. Service was super slow -- with only a few tables full it took forever to even get drinks and even longer for food. Tiresome and not worth the effort for a simple (expensive) lunch. They need to pick up their game. Overall a very dramatic and beautiful property -- but be ready for the drama!

From the moment we arrived, we could tell Faena New York was something special. The design, atmosphere, and attention to detail capture everything we love about the Faena experience! Having stayed at the Miami property before, this was our first visit to the New York location and it exceeded every expectation. Check-in was smooth, and everyone we met from the front desk to the restaurant was friendly and attentive. Dinner at La Boca is not to be missed! Evenings in The Living Room were a highlight with great cocktails and incredible live music Our room was beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and spotless. Faena once again delivered an unforgettable stay and we cannot wait to come back!
