Exquisitely and eclectically designed, The Fifth Avenue Hotel offers a realm of imagination to delight the senses in the elegant NoMad neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan.
A historic New York Gilded Age landmark reimagined as a luxury destination, The Fifth offers thoughtful service with the utmost comfort and care; and exceptional cuisine overseen by award-winning Chef Andrew Carmellini.
The Fifth Avenue Hotel is built on the former estate of Mrs. Charlotte Goodridge, a legendary Gilded Age hostess whose home was the epicenter of culture and discourse in 19th-century New York City. The mansion then housed a fine art gallery before being reimagined by legendary architectural firm McKim, Mead & White as the stately Second National Bank.
Today, following a 10-year restoration by Flâneur Hospitality, the original brick and limestone Renaissance-style palazzo is complemented by a shimmering 24-story modern glass tower. The two impressive edifices embody the marriage of classic, sumptuous luxury and sophisticated innovation that help to create an unsurpassed guest experience at The Fifth.

For the past 3 years I save money for a year and then spend two to four nights in a high end NYC hotel (I know this probably has real rich people clutching their real pearls lol). I stayed in the langham, park hotel, and now 5th avenue. They’re all genuinely great in their own way. I had a bigger room at the langham that had a balcony for the same price and the amenities are top notch. I think it’s still my favorite in many ways. But the 5th ave hotel is in the running for best in that the service was the best of all of the places. The coordination between eveyone was fantastic and it really felt like you mattered to them. Breakfast at the restaurant was chefs kiss and again service there was amazing theu made sure my breakfast pastries made it to my room. They were a bit slow to answer thr texts but calling always got a quick response. Felix was amazing like 100/10 service. When there was one hiccup earlier in the day I was a but grumpy but he made up for it immensely. Only service downside was when he wasn’t there I didn’t feel as much love and the turn down service didnt offer to come back when they came before I was ready. Some of the amenities are actually in the closet on a shelf which was odd for a suite and there was not a separate room just a partition between spaces which is more common these days. Aside from coordination for service were a few small things that are one of a kind. 1. The lobby is tiny but the portrait “bar” lounge area is adorable. It seems to be a happening spot and you get exclusive access early in the day. Great vibes there. 2. The art is TOP NOTCH. I LOVED walking through the hotel. It was like a museum. And the team can tell you about every piece. Once I start revisiting hotels this one will certainly remain on the list.

Up until a couple weeks ago I would have said that The Fifth Avenue was hands down my favorite hotel in NYC and probably one of my top 5 hotels anywhere in the world. I have stayed there many times over the last couple of years and always had a great stay. All of the changed with my last stay, which unfortunately also happened to be my husband's 40th birthday. Before our stay, I contacted the concierge to see if they could help secure a couple of hard-to-get reservations. They were able to get us reservations for two evenings, which was great. They sent me a confirmation of both reservations. When we arrived at the hotel there was no mention of my husbands birthday which was disappointing, but fine. However- when went to the restaurant that they had supposedly booked for us for the night of my husbands birthday we were told that we did not actually have a reservation. The restaurant looked through their records and showed me an email from the concierge to the restaurant stating that I had declined the reservation which was absolutely not true. I contacted the concierge and they were apologetic and confused as to what had happened. At that point I just needed a place to have dinner for my husbands birthday, so we figured it out on our own. The next day I asked to speak with the concierge about what had happened. They said someone would contact me and days went by without anyone saying anything. On our last night we returned to our room after dinner and saw we had not received turn down service. I contacted the front desk and was told that our room was "double locked from the inside" so housekeeping could not get in. This is impossible as we were out all day and evening. I also spoke to the front desk about our previous issues. She stated that the restaurant communication breakdown was due to the restaurant not having availability - which i know is not true since I saw the email from the concierge declining the reservation. I understand that mistakes happen and I am generally pretty relaxed about things like this but I felt like we were continuously lied to about things which just added to my frustration. Eventually she said that she would credit our folio $150 for the trouble. After this conversation my husband and I put the do not disturb sign on our door and went to get around 10:30PM. A few mins later someone knocked on our door. We ignored it since we were in bed and clearly did not want to be disturbed. However the knocking continued so eventually we opened the door and a butler was there with champagne. Not only was this too little too late, but it just really exemplified the clear lack of 5 star service (why would you continue to knock when we clearly are asleep??). We also had an issue where an employee used their key card to enter our room while we were in there. They were not housekeeping and did not knock, so I truly have no idea why they were coming in. Luckily we were just watching tv but the whole thing was bizarre. I was just going to let all of this go and just cancel my future reservations (I currently have one booked in July) but today I received my folio (for some reason my card was charged over a week after we checked out) and the $150 credit I was promised was not on there. The whole thing has been a disaster and I really hope they can figure out their service issues but I will not be sticking around to find out.

If you're looking for a true boutique hotel experience this is the place to be. Beautifully designed hotel, thoughtful staff and service, and amazing restaurants. Good value for a top notch location too!

This is a truly personalized boutique hotel, unlike the big chains. The staff to guest ratio, but more importantly, the Services are second to none. The rooms have character and nothing in the way of amenities is lacking.
