Perfect Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I had a wonderful stay at the Kimpton and everything was simply perfect from start to finish. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the overall experience truly exceeded my expectations. A special thank you to the entire staff for their kindness and professionalism. In particular, I would like to mention Julio and Ernst, who made us feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of throughout our stay, and all the front desk staff! Their hospitality made a real difference. I travel to New York often, and this will definitely be one of my go-to places from now on. Looking forward to coming back soon—well done to everyone! ! Bravo Bravo !

No Customer Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beware of Lucy Shulman We had a contract in place with Ashbel, yet upon arrival (at midnight, in the rain), two of our guests were told they did not have rooms due to a date error on the hotel’s end. At the front desk they were told there was no availability, we were forced to book a room online at the last minute—at a rate exceeding $500, and not honoring the contracted rate. The second guest was placed in a makeshift setup within a larger suite (penthouse), where she had to sleep on a pull-out sofa. This was not an acceptable accommodation, especially given the circumstances. Following this experience, we requested to move our next contracted stay to another Kimpton property (Eventi), which had confirmed availability for our group. The request was denied. Lucy Shulman, the hotel’s Director of Sales & Marketing, did not offer a workable solution and provided inconsistent explanations for why the change could not be accommodated. Between the reservation error, lack of accountability, subpar room arrangements, and unwillingness to provide a reasonable solution, this experience fell well below expectations. Additionally, the rooms and bathrooms are notably small. We will not be returning to this property. This matter has been escalated to IHG corporate Between the reservation error, lack of accountability, subpar room arrangements, and unwillingness to provide a reasonable solution, this experience fell well below expectations. Additionally, the rooms and bathrooms are notably small. We will not be returning to this property. This has also been escalated to IHG corporate.

A gem of a find in NYC

Had a fantastic time at this lovely hotel in Murray Hill. Our room overlooked Park Avenue and the Church of Our Savior. The rooms are nicely appointed, with a take on mid-century modern style, and make the most use of space and even though the bathroom is small there is everything you need. Lobby is spacious, colorful, and has great collection of coffee table books from Assouline on various world destinations. We originally booked a room with two beds, but as they were sold out they gave us two rooms next to each other which worked out well. Staff was very friendly and Anthony at the front desk allowed us to have a later check out. Only suggestion I have is for a dedicated staff to clean up after wine hour- when I came back after dinner there were lots of empty beer bottles and wine glasses left in the lobby by guests and it would have taken very little time for a staff member to remove them. Either that or they should discontinue to offer it as not all guests are mindful.

Amazing stay!

My stay at the Kimpton Ashbel was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I stepped foot into the hotel, I felt so welcomed. The staff was great and always ready to help with a smile on their face. My room was extremely clean, the mattress was so comfortable, and the interior decor was beautiful. You could see just how much detail went into this hotel. The location is unbeatable, with the Empire State Building right nearby, restaurants all around, and a train station just a few short blocks away. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.
