Visited with my son who just finished 10th grade. Loved the location of the hotel, the ambiance, and the executive lounge benefits which we looked forward to enjoying each day we finished exploring NYC together. Disappointed the hotel is charging an amenity fee of $45/day, even if you book the room with points, which I’ve never seen before. Amenity fees ruined hotels in Las Vegas…don’t let it happen in NYC too.

Avoid this tourist trap! Location is good (but most manhattan hotels are). Other than that I would avoid. Staff took two swipes from one card and one from another a check in. Took $400 from one and $1000 from the other as a pre authorization. Denied any liability for the $1000 transaction when i approached the extremely unhelpful staff. Eventually had it returned after raising with visa disputes team. $45 per day amenity fee not mentioned when booking. This allows a $30 per day credit to spend in room or bar. As a taster a bottle of water is $10, a handful of candy is $10, and a soda can is $14. All plus tax, plus a $2.99 plus tax per day charge to refill the mini bar! Breakfast ok but restaurant cannot cope so lengthy lines every day with up to 45 minute wait. We opted to get a take out one day to avoid this. Waiter will ask you to sign a bill even though breakfast included. This is just to charge you a hefty tip…for a buffet breakfast! Rooms getting dated and zero sound proofing. Take some earplugs if you want some sleep. Poor attitude of reception staff was appalling and doesn’t meet with IHG core values.

Very nice hotel centrally located nice size rooms atmosphere nice lobby nice size rooms and value for money Two slightly negative comments we have to wait half an hour to get a table for breakfast this morning. It was be it was Memorial Day at least that was the excuse however the breakfast was a terrific breakfast once we got it. Secondly, we’ve been here a few times and I think that the furnishings in the lobby might need to be l updated the chairs and couches are looking a bit tired. That was starting these two comments. I strongly recommend staying here is a very pleasant day.

There is a reason we keep coming back to the Intercontinental Barclay… the location is convenient, the rooms are incredibly clean and comfortable (and spacious compared to most hotels in NYC) and the staff always go above and beyond to make our stays a little more special. Also, they are dog friendly!

Our recent stay at the InterContinental New York Barclay was absolutely wonderful. While the hotel’s classic elegance and comfort immediately set a sophisticated tone, what truly made the experience exceptional was the outstanding staff. The Reimagined Deluxe King room was incredibly comfortable, featuring excellent bedding that ensured a great night's rest. As Ambassador members, we were treated to an amazing buffet breakfast at the Parlour Restaurant, where every single dish we tasted was fresh and delicious. What stood out most, however, was the service. Every staff member we interacted with was remarkably accommodating, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to elevating our experience. Exceptional hospitality like this is rare, and it made our time in New York truly memorable. We look forward to our stay in August.
