InterContinental New York Barclay

Night one, we realized the AC/heater wasn't blowing cold or hot air - just air. I went to the front desk the next morning and the gentleman could not have cared less. He called me by another guest's name before realizing he put the incorrect info in, then told me it would be taken care of. The AC worked the next night - but in the middle of the night we realized that the heater would not work, and couldn't get the room warmer than 65. I'm also not a fan of the increasing tendency to take all of a guest's refrigeration away and replace it with a paid minibar. Also - if you offer a $30 per night F&B credit, it's silly to not treat it as a $60 credit over two nights. For $300+ a night, I expect things to work right, and I expect the staff to care. I received neither. I get better service from a Super 8.

I love the NYC Barclay always stay here and most recently visited twice in one month. It is elegant and feels very safe. There was a mess up at check-in for my party , as I had booked two rooms but that got resolved with some phone calls. We did experience an issue with the TV's in both our rooms and did call for service. The housekeeping staff was excellent and got us everything we needed with such a customer service attitude. As always, the doorman Angel and David were wonderful, I look forward to seeing them on my visits. Both are extremly helpful. Angel especially helped me during both visits and gave us much needed assistance for where we were headed. My visit earlier this month with my daughter he ensured we knew where we were going and how to get there when we walked and made me feel safer navigating without my husband. Room service was prompt and excellent. Some recommendations for improvement would be creamer with room service doesn't have a "lip" on it so it dribbles. Also, the brand of toilet paper and tissue was subpar and would expect a softer experience with the bathroom amenities. During my prior years visits you seemed to have a different brand of soaps and shampoo's which I preferred but I do love the large dispenser's for all of them instead of wrapped in paper. Overall, I will always come back to the Barclay and look forward to my next visit.

I rented a room from a wedding block. I arrived on Saturday at 11:58 AM for a 1:00PM wedding. I paid over $400 for the room with tax. I was told that I could not check in until 3:30PM. I told the desk that the wedding I was in town for was at 1:00pm. They did not care and made no attempt to help or apologize!!!! They said if I wanted an early check in it would cost and additional $200!!!!!! Unbelievable. This hotel knew what time the wedding was when the bride booked the room block. Obviously rooms were ready --- I just was not willing to pay an extra $200 for the early check in. I had to change in a friends rooms and checked in AFTER the wedding! I had to bring my suitcase to the venue. So ridiculous from a hotel of this level. Very disappointed.

Excited our room was ready when we arrived in the morning after walking from the subway in the rain. Enjoyed the clean and large room. Appreciated using the amenity fee at the Parlor.

Outstanding again, this was my third stay and definitely my new go to NYC hotel. Everything from checking in to leaving was fabulous. Food and drinks served perfectly by attentive staff who know their craft. Breakfast amazing as always.
