The Lowell

Love this hotel and location. Been going for over 20 years. Came for 25th anniversary. Room was v nice. Had two terraces. Cushions did get wet in rain and did not seem to be part of the team's focus as they weren't changed or dried. It's a shame as it was a v nice place to sit and a reason we booked this suite. Aircon is too loud. Hear that units are being swapped out - would be good to know once this is done - perhaps share this on the website. Room service: Help with a steamer, flower order & delivery, room service, check out and luggage storage, front desk safe us, newspaper delivery etc all done with a smile. Food and service at breakfast was v good. Didn't go to restaurants this time. Everything was v clean.

There are many 5 star luxury hotels in New York – but The Lowell is simply the best of the best. We just enjoyed a week there and can’t wait for our next visit. Its location is perfect: on a quiet street just off Madison Avenue, offering easy access to great shopping, Central Park and museums like the Frick. The rooms and suites are individually decorated, with beautiful furniture and marble bathrooms. Some even have wood-burning fireplaces! The hotel never feels crowded – you don’t find lines at Reception, and the Club Room is an oasis where guests can relax during the day. But the staff are what makes The Lowell truly special. Many are long term employees, and that speaks for itself. Management cares, and it shows. Employees stay because they are treated well, and in turn, they take care of the guests. We see this everywhere – from the greeting at the front door, to the reception staff, the concierge, the housekeepers, and the servers in the Pembroke Room where breakfast is served. Each of them greets us by name and is always anxious to make sure we have everything we need. We can’t imagine ever staying anywhere else in New York – we have found perfection!

My wife and I stayed at The Lowell in August for long weekend with our eight-month-old daughter, and from the moment we began corresponding with the hotel ahead of our arrival, the experience was exceptional. The team was an absolute pleasure to liaise with before our stay (Julian, Burline and Viktorija were so kind - I even received a note from the General Manager!). They asked about our dietary preferences, arrival time and anything they could do to make our visit more comfortable. Travelling with a baby, and as first-time moms, can sometimes feel a little daunting, but The Lowell made everything incredibly easy. Our room was ready early for us upon arrival, and the team very kindly upgraded us to give our family some additional space. Waiting in the room was a lovely crib, fully made and ready for our daughter, along with the sweetest welcome gift for her. There was a little bear, baby bath products, wipes! The bear quickly became a favourite and accompanied her throughout our stay. It was such a thoughtful introduction to the hotel and immediately made us feel welcome as a family. Our room itself was beautiful: timeless, incredibly comfortable and exceptionally well appointed. We had a wonderful king-size bed with beautiful linens, plenty of space and a large bathroom with both a bathtub and separate shower. What really stood out were the details. The bathroom seemed to have absolutely everything you could possibly need. Even the robes were Frette. Nothing felt generic or overlooked; everything throughout the room felt considered and of genuine quality. The Lowell's location on East 63rd Street, just off Madison Avenue and a short walk from Central Park, is also fantastic. Despite being in the heart of Manhattan, it has a wonderfully residential feel. Breakfast in the Pembroke Room was another highlight. Located on the second floor, it feels less like a hotel restaurant and more like an elegant European salon or beautiful private living room, complete with a charming terrace. Anthony, who told us he has been with The Lowell since 1990, was absolutely lovely and exemplified the kind of hospitality that makes this hotel so special. The green juice was fresh, the coffee was hot, everything was beautifully prepared, and the service was effortless. Having breakfast included in our stay was a wonderful touch. Ultimately, what makes The Lowell exceptional is its people. Every time we entered or left the hotel, the front desk team acknowledged and greeted us. The doormen were wonderful (especially Pedro!), particularly when we were navigating the entrance with a stroller; they would quite literally lift it through the doorway for us every single time. Everyone was warm, kind and genuinely seemed happy to see us. For me, this is what a true luxury hotel should be. It isn't simply beautiful interiors, expensive finishes or a prestigious address. It's being known, being greeted, having people anticipate what you might need and making everything feel completely seamless. We never had to think about a thing. I've been fortunate to stay at some great luxury hotels, including several in New York, and The Lowell stands apart. If looking you're looking for old-world luxury, exceptional quality and genuinely personal service, this is where you go. I see why they are a Conde Nast voters choice (they have my vote!). We cannot recommend The Lowell enough and will absolutely return.

The most magical, beautiful, enchanting places in NYC! Unbelievably kind staff, stunning accommodations, spectacular food and an overall wonderful experience! There is no place that compares! Love The Lowell!!!
