Peaceful boutique hotel in the heart of energetic NYC

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Times Square. I can’t say enough about the experience we had. When I first entered the hotel, Daniel was such a sweetheart, and had was friendly. Then he greeted us by name, remembered our room number, was always attentive for the rest of the stay. Staff is so responsive and helpful. Room is well equipped. Very stylish hotel, lovely rooms, very comfortable, good toiletries. There is a lot of energy of NYC when you walk out if the hotel, but inside is a different peaceful world.

A hard NO

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I stayed at The Muse for business and would not recommend this hotel for business travel. I was part of a larger group that selected the property solely due to its proximity to our event. This is clearly a tourist-focused hotel and does not operate with the needs of business travelers in mind. Due to significant travel hiccups, I arrived early from flight cancellations and delays, and in desperate need of a shower. While I did not expect an early check in, I was hoping for any consideration. II communicated clearly with the front desk that I needed access to my room as soon as possible, if at all possible. I returned hourly to check availability and was repeatedly told that no room was ready, but I was assured that my room would be available by the stated 3:00 PM check-in time. IT WAS NOT. As the scheduled check-in time passed, I became understandably frustrated. Rather than acknowledging the delay, the front desk staff and manager implied that my expectation to have a room at the published check-in time was unreasonable. Their explanation was that the hotel had been sold out the previous night and was sold out again that evening, and that they were “doing the best they could.” For a hotel located in Times Square over New Year’s, one of the busiest periods of the year, this reflects poor planning and staffing, not an unavoidable circumstance. The responsibility to manage inventory and staffing appropriately lies with the hotel, not the guest. The situation further deteriorated as multiple guests became frustrated with similar delays, at which point the front desk staff vacated the desk entirely, leaving guests without assistance. While the rooms themselves are nice, there are many hotels with comparable accommodations that also deliver professional, business-oriented service. The lobby is small and unwelcoming, and the front desk staff did not handle a high-pressure situation with professionalism. As a travel agent and event planner, I can confidently say that I will not recommend this property to clients or groups in the future.

Perfect hotel for city!

Excellent hotel and stay. Staff was extremely friendly. Easy check in and check out. The location is absolutely perfect!! Walking distance to just about all key attractions and sights! Hotel is nice and well kept. Room was spacious and clean. We were on the 8th floor and was surprised how quiet the room is!! Will definitely make this my go to hotel when visiting the city.

Comfortable and Convenient!

I stayed here with my dog and I absolutely loved my time here! The concierge service was amazing and very quick to respond! For example, I needed an ice pack for my sore knee and a few minutes later, it was at my door after I called. The location was very convenient to everything I wanted to see and I felt so comfortable and safe here. Their Little Opus inside by the hotel lobby is also very nice for coffee! I’m so happy with the staff and my stay here.
