Nine Orchard transforms a Lower East Side landmark into a dynamic 113-room luxury hotel. Originally built in 1912, the 60,000-square foot former bank has been lovingly restored, from the lobby’s soaring, vaulted ceiling to the domed tempietto on the rooftop. All rooms have oversized windows, filling the space with natural light and showcasing the beautifully restored molding and architectural details, quiet color palette, and heart pine flooring, with rooms on higher floors delivering incredible skyline views. The hotel is located on the Lower East Side, surrounded by cultural institutions, picturesque streets, and unique restaurants, in what has become one of downtown New York’s most exciting destinations.

Nine Orchard isn't a place you stay when you just need somewhere to sleep — the hotel itself is the destination. Set inside the restored 1912 Jarmulowsky Bank, a Neo-Renaissance landmark with a soaring vaulted lobby, pink marble, and a domed rooftop tempietto, it's a Leading Hotels of the World property where every corner has been considered. The design is gorgeous throughout, and the genius is that each space has its own completely different mood. The unique touches are what stayed with me: alongside your electronic key card you can carry an old-fashioned key with a ceramic keychain, and every room has a beautiful retro speaker with curated music stations (or Bluetooth your own). Housekeeping even chose specific stations for check-in and turndown to match the mood — a detail I've never seen anywhere else. I stayed in a King City View Suite, and it was the kind of room you don't want to leave. The minibar was wonderfully stocked — a great variety of drinks and both sweet and savory snacks — and I'm a sucker for good boutique-hotel soap, which this absolutely delivered. The food and cocktails were excellent. I had lunch and a cocktail in the Swan Room, and ordered room service twice — a late-night dinner with amazing fries, and a pre-ordered breakfast timed to arrive right as I woke up. Service was exceptional from start to finish, and the guaranteed 1 PM checkout was a real gift for my schedule. A note on location: it's in the Lower East Side, right on the edge of Chinatown. I wouldn't send a first- or second-time New York visitor here, but once you're past the touristy areas and want something special, this is a fantastic choice.

This is a beautiful hotel quietly tucked inside the Lower East Side. We received warm, attentive service from the start and that continued throughout. The place has all the touches. Complimentary (really good) coffee and delicious madeleines in the second floor lounge from 530am. Homemade cookies at turndown. Swan, a sumptuous lounge in front and Corner Bar, a pretty bar/resto in back, share a kitchen and both serve excellent food. Room service? Same kitchen and same deliciousness. And the room - ours was a cozy but truly appealing Studio King - was an elegant cocoon. And then there was the shower pressure - literally a show stopper. What can I say? A great, great splurge - and with as good a location as a city lover could hope for.

The bar in hotel is trying to become an nyc scene and 3 times I was turned away to get a table in a 4 night stay. Ridiculous

My favorite hotel in NYC. A blend of chic downtown style with service that rivals the fanciest hotels of the UES. The rooms are elegant and cool, with sophisticated furnishings and impeccable design details. The bed linens are to die for. The Swan Room is one of the coolest and most glamorous spaces in NYC. And they make a mean martini!

Such a great experience from the moment I walked in the door. My room was cozy, the bed was heaven with a down comforter, delicious cookies on the bedside table! I ordered an amazing ocean trout carpaccio from room service which was perfect and finished with strawberry sorbet. It was definitely worth having my flight canceled. I can’t wait to come back
