I felt good about the hotel stay. I got a good deal through my credit card’s travel site for a room that had two queens, which was hard to find for a decent price in NYC. After reading the reviews, though, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It ended up being fine. I’m very surprised it’s considered a 5 star hotel, but it provided what we needed: decently clean and spacious. The shower water pressure was great. A couple reviews mentioned it being noisy and the AC blowing right in your face in bed, which were both real, but we were still able to sleep well. So, I was satisfied with my experience until I received a $198 charge for mini bar items we didn't touch. We didn’t take a single thing from the mini bar but are being charged as if we wiped it clean. It’s never fun to have to dispute charges but it’s very frustrating to then be told that the hotel’s “mini bar team” reviewed the charges and are standing by them. I was able to dispute the charge with my credit card company and be credited the charge all in about a minute, but it’s not just about the money. It’s the principle of it and how many other people are they doing this to? I don’t know if it’s the hotel, the staff, other guests that are able to somehow access the room after checkout, but they’ve got a bigger issue on their hands. What makes this even more frustrating is that this was not a let’s-go-to-nyc-and-party type of trip. I took my sister who has terminal brain cancer on a trip to spend time with her and to treat her to something special. We did not get drunk and eat/drink our way through the mini bar, though now that I’m being charged for the $50 of Patron, maybe we should have!

The hotel was great. When you walked in it smelled so good. The staff was great, especially Michelle and Nina who helped me find my lost cell phone. I loved the rooms, it had a lot of room, bathroom was large and everything was very clean. I will definitely stay there again.

I had an incredible stay at Royalton park avenue. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and cared for. Dennis specifically made sure to assure everything was taken care of and accommodated us very well. Check-in was seamless, and every interaction with the team was amazing, we have stayed at this hotel 4 years in a row and wouldn’t recommend anywhere else!
