Reviews for Royalton Park Avenue

Excellent experience

Firstly I have to say I cannot understand the negative reviews for this place. I’m sure some people must be expecting to stay in a palace! All I know is that my daughter and I (travelling from the UK) had a wonderful experience. Upon arrival reception staff told me they had given us a larger room with a sofa bed should my daughter or I wish to sleep separately and this was at no extra charge. The room was huge, exceptionally clean and the cleaning staff were very polite and worth their wait in gold. Bed was v comfy too and definitely big enough! Yes there are little bits of the room that could do with a tidy up but just minor things such as a wonky bath fitting and some grout to be redone in the shower. We were already told about the renovation works as soon as we arrived and to be honest my daughter and I were both awake and getting ready for the day anyway by 8am so this didn’t cause us any issues at all and wasn’t that noisy. All the staff we encountered both at reception, housekeeping staff and at the bar upstairs were welcoming and friendly, especially the concierge with the amazing trainers ( don’t get his name 🤣). We didn’t get stung with any hidden charges other than the tax that BA had already told us about at the point of booking. This is a great hotel, central to everything and I imagine it will have even more appeal once the renovation works are complete. If you’re after comfort, cleanliness and friendly staff then this is the place to be

Horrible construction noise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked our room at the Royalton Park through Booking.com. Our 4 night stay at $2,944.67 was prepaid. At no point in the reservation process, including an email to the property with a request for an early check in due to my wife’s health from cancer treatments were we told major renovations were happening at the property. At 8 am the sounds of heavy construction on the floors above us woke us. When we contacted the front desk, we were given “apologies “ for the construction noise. We requested help from the front desk to cancel our stay and find other accommodation. We were told since this was a prepaid stay through booking.com, there is a no cancellation policy at this time. The lie of omission turned what was supposed to be a romantic getaway into stress filled misery. If you’re looking for a stay with an organization that values customers, pass this one by.

Excellent - from start to finish. Couldn’t ask for more.

We booked the Royalton Park Avenue very late on a Sunday night during the February snowstorm after British Airways effectively left us stranded with no where to stay when flight had to be cancelled after 3 hours on runway . Arriving at around 10:30pm, with much of New York feeling like a ghost town, we were greeted by staff who were exceptionally welcoming, professional, and reassuring at what could have been a very stressful time. The hotel became the perfect refuge while we waited out two snowbound days in the city. We had room service that night and it was perfect and so well received after the chaos of trying to get back to Manhattan and to hotel in the snow. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped, and every member of staff we encountered was genuinely kind and helpful. One of the highlights was enjoying coffee at the rooftop bar while taking in the snowy New York skyline. Despite the challenging weather, the hotel provided a warm, relaxing, and memorable experience. This was actually our second stay at the Royalton Park Avenue, having previously visited during a Christmas trip in 2024. Consistently excellent service, comfortable accommodation, excellent food, and a fantastic location make this a hotel we would highly recommend to anyone visiting New York. We look forward to returning again.

Not a 5 star

Not a 5 star by any stretch. Service is lacking, no mention of ongoing refurbishments until you arrive, rooms are tired.

Bed bugs , strange stains , a hotel in deep decline and thats from a previous huge fan

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

this used to be easily my favourite hotel in NYC. My daughter and I have stayed here religiously for about 8 years every summer . We were looking forward as usual to our stay for a number of days in August 2025. In summary this hotel has gone from being a thing of beauty and freindliness and joy to being a dump. THe room we have looked like it had held frat parties for months. Most of the furniture was damaged and / or scuffed. First night in bed i became dinenr for the bed bugs. After complaining my concerns were dismissed heavily but they finallya greed to move me to a worse room. I was told that they ahd called an exterminator and would keep me updated ( still no joy 10 months later) The pool which used to be the gem of the hotel is no longer that. The furniture is heavily stained and there is a general feel of decaya bout the whole place. I cant explain how bad our trip was compared to previous standards. Never mind that my bed bug incident was mostly ignored and never even apologised for. But yes i still get emails and message to come stay in the bug infested scruffy hotel, such joy.
