Lovely big rooms, noisy renovations!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Has the potential to be so much more of a five star experience like it should be, but certainly the staff at the front desk and the reception area were lacking any pleasantries (apart from Nina who checked us in and the guy on concierge who was charming) There are building works going on atm and our room during 9-5 was so noisy, constant drilling all day, we weren’t notified of this until we checked in. And it certainly affected our stay. We did mention this on check out and was just told, well there is a letter on the front desk about it, not the point really when we have paid so much money. We had to take our own luggage to the room as the luggage guy was too busy and even on checking out they just held the door open for us while, we struggled with all of our luggage to the taxi. The hotel is in a great location with the subway 2 minutes away and various places to eat within a few minutes away including a huge whole foods.

Hot day, no ice.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We've stayed here before & generally found it pretty ok, well-located, clean, a bit expensive, but ok if you get what you pay for. On this visit, there was a fair amount of construction going on, which I wish they would have informed us, and discounted the rate. Small things like this annoy me a lot: there are no ice machines. (WHY NOT? large quantities of ice is my favorite thing about staying in a hotel!). They say, just call room service and they'll bring it. I call 4 times. First three times, nobody answers, 4th time it rings over to front desk. 'Please can I have some ice?' 'Yep, right away.' This was at 4 pm. An hour later, no ice. "Please PLEASE can I have some ice?? Second time calling." "Yes, sorry, we will expedite!" 7 pm, on my way out, I stop at the front desk to report, 'there was no ice.' 'Oh, excuse excuse, somebody's first day, something with ice machine . . . . . Is there anything we can do to make it up?' 'Yeah, put ice machines in the hallways' (if you are not able to follow through on your promise to bring it - that last part I just kept to myself.). Smallish complaint, possibly, but I REALLY like ice, and in a $700 per night room, . . . it seems like this is a disappointment that some relatively on-the-ball hospitality planning could have alleviated. (The temperature today was over 90!)

Terrible & not 5 Star, be careful!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Hotel is no way near a 5 star in any sense and I have no idea how it has this rating. I don't often write reviews but felt the need to warn people. The room was in really poor condition with cracked sink, patched up wallpaper, ripped sheets, and even coming back after the room was cleaned to find a strange bit of food on the floor (see photos). All the photos on the website including the pool area are very misleading having been there in person. Added to this is the additional 'facilities' fee for internet access and fitness centre, which I'd expect to be included in a 5 star hotel. The room didn't even have a kettle, only a coffee pod machine, and the TV reception meant it was sometimes unwatchable. I booked this hotel for a special trip to New York for a very special occasion but were so dissapointed and quite angry.

Horrible. Don’t be mislead and do not stay here

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The WORST. The room was gross. Frayed pillows, brown bathtub water, broken toilet. Staff was not helpful - left something in the room after checkout and couldn’t get ahold of a live person for the last three days! Still waiting to try and get a live person who isn’t at a call center. The photos are misleading. I would never stay here again.

Terrible

It was awful and staff could care less. No remorse or sympathy. And we ended up having to valet our own car get our own bags I would never go back
