Beautiful, comfortable and friendly
My wife and I stayed here this past weekend during a high school reunion trip. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so helpful. We asked questions of the bellman, the concierge and the front desk and got great answers with a smile. Our room was terrific. I heard the hotel was recently refreshed - indeed it was like new including the lobby where we hung out for a bit as well as our room. We also loved the location being so close to Times Square, subways, restaurants, Bryant Park. We will definitely stay at Sofitel New York again!

Excellent Experience at the Sofitel New York
Excellent property in a wonderful location. The room is spacious and open. Front office manager Rafael provided outstanding service and went above and beyond to accommodate us. I would definitely return when I'm back in the city.

Great Trip with the Family
Fantastic experience. Very nice hotel room and our son even liked the pullout sofa bed. Benny was our waiter at the hotel restaurant and he was the best!

An eventful stay during the February snowstorm. Staff are outstanding. Special thanks to Ben and Jose for their help on the Saturday night. Bijou you really are a jewel, it was a pleasure to meet you. The renovation, with lighter colour schemes, make the rooms seem larger and brighter. For Midtown room rates are quite good value. Location is great and this part of 44th St really provides an oasis of calm. The new long (and sociable) table in the bar/restaurant gives a nod to the bouillons parisiens, and while you won't dine out for the equivalent of 20 euro, the food is excellent and not overtly over-priced. Already looking forward to my stay in August.

A pleasant stay at the newly renovated Sofitel
The suites at the newly renovated Sofitel is fantastic and quiet. Love the separate soaking tub and shower room. Rafael and his team at the front desk went above and beyond to take good care of us during our two night stay.

Firstly, the quality of the hotel is subpar for what I expect of a Sofitel. It is dated, drab and worn. The pictures online suggest a grand lobby/entrance and a bit of old-style New York glamour - it is none of those things. The rooms are very basic - no luxury elements at all - just two beds and dresser in our room. Our first room had broken items (closet, safe) and we were transferred to a new room which was fine and equally as basic.
We also ate at the GABY onsite restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, which was terrible and the service was mediocre.
Net net, income would rank this a 3 star hotel experience and not at all the caliber of hotel I expected when I booked the Sofitel.
