Sofitel New York

It’s a very nice calm hotel with quick access to all major NY attractions. We have been served by Arian every morning and it was the best service we have had in years! We recommend!

In the Sofitel restaurant, the team is good overall, but Arian is exceptional 😊Polite, professional, and genuinely welcoming, he represents hospitality at its best👍

We were very satisfied and had a really wonderful experience. We would especially like to highlight Arian, the waiter, who took great care of us. He was attentive, friendly, and highly professional, and made us feel very welcome from the start. Overall, everything was excellent — the service, the atmosphere, and the entire experience. We truly felt comfortable and well looked after throughout our visit. Many thanks to the whole team for such a lovely time. We would be very happy to come back and highly recommend this place.

Location is fantastic, unfortunately I would agree with other reviews in that the superior/ luxury room upgrade is not worth the money and miss sold. The rooms are comfortable but mattress was worn and bath marked. No interest in my requirements once I’d checked out, I requested a taxi later on my check out day and it was refused and I had to see the guys on the front door who got me a taxi which unfortunately ripped me off. Be very careful of the taxis waiting outside….

The improvements of a "Luxury" room over the cheaper "Superior" room are hardly noticeable. More plush slippers and a better stocked mini bar, and that's about it. In fact, the superior room gets a couch, it's more spacious and have better view than the luxury room (which has two stools, a smaller internal space and looking over the HVAC of the opposite building). Requested for a quiet room, yes, the room assigned was away from the hotel elevators, but it shares a wall with the elevator shaft of the building behind, so the vibration and noise from the building behind travels through the wall during the day (it was like sleeping in the subway). Adding to the noise was the HVAC from the building opposite the hotel. Had to change rooms because we wanted to sleep in and rest in the hotel during the day. We really liked the hotel and room decor and the vibes. But for the price and in consideration of its "4.5 stars" status, I think Sofitel could afford to offer complimentary tea/coffee for the rooms? Made guests felt like the hotel will try to charge you on anything that's extra. Asked for a water kettle and waited for 45mins, no response no nothing, called again and was told they've lended all of them out to other guests. Would've been nice to inform me of that and not leave me waiting in the room expecting something to come! I could've saved the time and get what I want elsewhere. At the end they offered free tea that one time to make up for the delay and unavailability. The sense of stinginess goes to the breakfast as well. We thought it's going to be like any major top grade hotel where breakfast is served buffet style or we can order whatever we want from a list of options. At Sofitel NY, you can choose one breakfast set, one juice and one hot beverage, that's it. No extra egg, pancake, sausage, fruit, cereal nor an extra cup of coffee. Anything extra is chargeable. We stayed 3 nights, so by the 3rd morning we wanted to have a mix and match of different things, unfortunately, that is not an option at Sofitel. To add to this inflexibility, they ran out of smoked salmon! I mean, come on!! Don't know what's worse, no smoked salmon or the discovery of egg shells in the benedicts! We would also expect the crosisant to be warm. No, they were stone cold like the ones you just got from Costco. The breakfast I could only give a 2/5. The location was great, service was satisfactory (would not say the most attentive), it needs more info on the website about the rooms, and the breakfast (not worth trying at all).
