The location was terrific and walkable to many attractions/time square/Broadway/Grand Central etc,. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a suite on the upper floors and it was very comfortable and quiet. The room was pricey but it is NYC in the summer. One big issue as mentioned by many was the $45 daily charge for what they call Urban Experience which was a complete surprise as really its just a tax actually. We did bring a small dog and they are pet friendly , however, they are no real places to walk a dog except Bryant Park which is a few blocks away. I would leave your dog at home plus the pet fee is really expensive ($150 a day). One last annoyance was the phone service from the room. No way to tell who to call get your car/bellman/room service etc. i visited the front desk to inquire but they said just call the operator and they will direct your call. I did just that but was put on hold for 4-5 minutes and I finally hung up. Tried it 3-4 times again with the same result. Not very useful when you are on the 26th floor and have to go down to the front desk all the time.

We had a tremendously wonderful stay at Sofitel NYC. Right from the get go, from the door guy with a beard on the afternoon shift (forgot to ask for his name). You could see the enthusiasm and how he interacts well with the guest. Even the nice man who brought our bags at the room! That's not all! We initially booked a Double Queen Sized Bed, but we got upgraded to a Suite for free! The front desk was amazing, had a good conversation always with Mage. You could really see he's passionate with his work. Absolutely amazing! Everything piled up into a pretty good experience for us considering that my family and I are avid Sofitel guests, even back when we used to have it in our country. Now that we got to experience it again, it truly shows the top notch service and absolutely wonderful experience we had. Location wise: You can't say anything! Subway station is a 3 minute walk, you can get taxis by the front door, even the pick-up for the Uber shuttle is just a few mins away if you intend to go to the airport! At the same time, you're literally near to Times Square and all the flagship stores that you want to shop to! Perfect location!

I stayed at Sofitel for three nights with my parents and my children, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I've ever had. The moment we entered our room, we were shocked. The previous guest's used toothbrush was still in the bathroom, and handwritten notes left by the previous guest were still on the desk. It was obvious that the room had not been properly cleaned and only appeared to have been quickly tidied up. When we contacted the manager and asked for someone to properly clean the room, his first response was not an apology. Instead, he asked, "What do you want?" I was honestly surprised by such an unprofessional attitude. All I wanted was for the room to be cleaned properly. He simply replied, "Okay," with no sincere apology or concern. The next morning at breakfast, the experience became even worse. We were a group of six people, yet we were only given seating for four. One member of our family had to stand and wait because there wasn't even a seat available. What disappointed me the most was the attitude of the restaurant staff. They were extremely arrogant, dismissive, and indifferent. We were given only one menu for six people, and despite asking several times for additional menus, our requests were completely ignored. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. I understand that some restaurants charge an automatic service fee for larger groups, but after receiving such poor service, it felt completely unjustified. The level of service simply did not deserve it. I have stayed at many luxury hotels around the world, and this experience fell far below the standards I would expect from the Sofitel brand. Poor housekeeping can sometimes happen, but the staff's lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic hospitality is what made this stay truly unacceptable. If it were possible to give this hotel zero stars, I would do so without hesitation.

We had breakfast for 3-4 times during our stay in Sofitel Hotel in nyc. The breakfast is nice and delicious, with plenty of choices. I do like the avocado toast a lot. Mr. Arian here is very friendly and helpful, thanks!

Firstly, the quality of the hotel is subpar for what I expect of a Sofitel. It is dated, drab and worn. The pictures online suggest a grand lobby/entrance and a bit of old-style New York glamour - it is none of those things. The rooms are very basic - no luxury elements at all - just two beds and dresser in our room. Our first room had broken items (closet, safe) and we were transferred to a new room which was fine and equally as basic.
We also ate at the GABY onsite restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, which was terrible and the service was mediocre.
Net net, income would rank this a 3 star hotel experience and not at all the caliber of hotel I expected when I booked the Sofitel.
