The staff at this hotel exceeded my expectations! Especially Juan (I hope that I remembered your name correctly!)at reception and Maria with accomodations⭐️ they knew my husband and I were there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and they went out if their way to make our stay special! As we were leaving to spend the day our way, Juan pursued us before we left the building to hand us vouchers for coffee and pastries for the next morning. Then, when returned that evening, the two of them left us a handwritten note congratulating us on our 20th, with chocolate covered strawberries! It was so heartwarming and I appreciate you two ❤️

A Resilient Gem in the Heart of NYC: Sofitel New York Delivers even under construction! I am about to check out from the Sofitel New York While it started with a slight hiccup during check-in – a less-than-enthusiastic initial interaction that might have been a mutual off-moment – the experience swiftly transitioned from just ok to great, largely thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Marioara Sfera, the Director of Front Office. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect, turning any potential negatives into positives with her impeccable professionalism and dedication. Spacious Comfort and Thoughtful Amenities The rooms at the Sofitel New York are remarkably spacious for Manhattan, and impeccably clean. While they can be a bit on the darker side with limited natural light and less-than-stellar views depending on the room's location, the comfort and amenities more than make up for it. I particularly appreciated the luxurious Balmain toiletries and the consistently strong water pressure in the shower – small details that significantly enhance the stay. Navigating Renovations with Grace It's worth noting that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, expected to conclude in late October. This meant some services weren't operating as usual, including the hotel bar, gym, and breakfast restaurant. However, the Sofitel team's compensation for these temporary inconveniences was more than satisfactory, truly demonstrating their commitment to guest satisfaction. For instance, instead of the hotel bar, we could use our drink vouchers for room service, which we delightfully used for rosé champagne. The gym was replaced with complimentary passes to Blink Fitness, a fantastic gym just a short walk away. And for breakfast, instead of in-house dining, we received vouchers for a trendy café directly across the street. Having stayed at this Sofitel 3-4 times before, I know their usual breakfast offerings are excellent, and I'm confident they'll return to that high standard once renovations are complete. Above and Beyond Service While I might have given a 4-star rating had this been my first visit, Marioara Sfera's exceptional service and the hotel's proactive and generous compensation for the renovation-related changes truly elevated my experience to a resounding 5 out of 5. As a long-standing Platinum/Diamond member with Accor, I've had the pleasure of staying at some of the finest Sofitel and SO properties worldwide (like Obelisk in Dubai, Bangkok, and Berlin), and I genuinely believe the Sofitel New York, under its current leadership, has the potential to reach those same heights. A special shout-out must also go to the entire team of doormen, who were consistently friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Ithiel stood out a little bit extra. If you need any suggestions and help Ithiel (the Mayor of 44th street) will be able to sort it out. My sincerest thanks to Marioara and the entire Sofitel New York team for a memorable and exceptionally well-handled stay!

I give Sofitel New York 5 stars because everything went smoothly, even while the hotel is being renovated. The construction is hidden behind clean walls, and I never heard any noise. Hallways stayed tidy, and staff put up clear signs so guests wouldn’t get lost. My room had already been upgraded. It felt brand-new with a soft king bed and thick windows that blocked street sounds. I slept well every night. The shower worked perfectly, there were big fluffy towels, and French soaps that smelled great. A Nespresso machine and free bottled water made mornings easy. The location is perfect. Bryant Park, Times Square, and the subway are only a short walk, but inside the hotel it was calm and safe. Wi-Fi was fast, elevators were quick, and the temporary lobby bar still made tasty coffee and snacks. Special thanks to Shevanie Gayle and Marioara Steta. Their warm help turned a good stay into a great one. If you want a quiet, comfy base in Midtown with caring staff, Sofitel New York is a solid choice.

Wait for renovation after septembre and will be perfect! They are renovating everything we were the last client at the bar! So wait until it is renewed… the bar will be completely transformed, the lobby, the rooms, the fitness… curious to go there again after the renovation! Pro: - The staff! They know what is taking care of their customers! Thiam Bijou Khadi and her team took care of us, we had issues with some noise in the room and she tried to find the origin, she changed our room, Bijou and her staff really did everything to make us feel comfortable. She was really competent and friendly, really appreciated! Thank you Bijou! - The location is great between 6th and 5th Avenue can get from 44th or 45th street. Easy access for subway, 4 min walk from Time square and Bryant park, 10 min from Central Park, 4 min to Summit one Vanderbilt and 10 min from Empire State… - The comfort: it is a Sofitel so the bed is really comfortable, even the sofa bed is, kids enjoyed it. All is very clean, housekeeping very good. - Bathroom is big and you even have a bath and a shower separate (not usual in NYC).. Balmain products soap, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, shower cap, cotton pad, cotton swab, nail file, comfortable peignoirs, slippers… - The view, but you need to have a room in the highest floors. From the terrace the view is sooo amazing: Empire State Building, Summit One (in room 2415) - The cocktails are really good at the bar (but really expensive! The mojito is one of the best I had… - Fun fact with kids: go in the lobby just in the middle of the stairs, on the circle and say something there, you can hear you echo, really fun with kids, mine loved it - Some suites have a terrace which is amazing (but wait for renovation…) - Breakfast (not sure if I need to write this in the pros or in the « could improve »…): the staff was really great, the breakfast was really good (we had pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruits, orange juice, tea…). But never saw a such expensive price! For me it is indecent… we were 4 with 2 kids (we were lucky it was included in the limitless status for us!) but it costed 320$! 48$ for 6 very small orange juice (we tough it was refill…), 39$ ( + tax + service means 50$) for 2 eggs Benedict????, 9$ a tea, 10$ for a side of 2 slices of bacon! I can pay for quality but here the indecency of the price goes over the quality… hope this will be more affordable when it will reopen… Could improve: - no ice machine so always need to call room service (but they are very reactive!) - The fridge is an automatic fridge so each drink you take is automatically on your bill… I hate those systems as I want to have a fridge and be able to put what I want in it… and have a choice of drinks I can buy in case I need it. Guess this will change with the renovation… - No tea in the room… you get a coffee machine but not tea and if you want tea you have to pay! We do not drink coffee so at least there should be tea… hope this will be the case after renovation… - The room is quite dark and even more when it is raining outside… guess it is due to the old fashioned French style… but sure it will be better after the renovation! - The paper toilet… Could really be better… - The terrace in the suites could be so amazing but they are old, nothing like in the pictures… not a lot of fourniture and old furniture… could be a piece of paradise, this part really needs renovation (our terrace was « sad »). Again looking forward for the renovation… - The bar is dark and cocktails are pricy, happy hour is only beers and wine « less expensive » and one cocktail, I do not consider this as « Happy hour » - The lobby was already closed for a part so did not feel like a real lobby

Firstly, the quality of the hotel is subpar for what I expect of a Sofitel. It is dated, drab and worn. The pictures online suggest a grand lobby/entrance and a bit of old-style New York glamour - it is none of those things. The rooms are very basic - no luxury elements at all - just two beds and dresser in our room. Our first room had broken items (closet, safe) and we were transferred to a new room which was fine and equally as basic.
We also ate at the GABY onsite restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, which was terrible and the service was mediocre.
Net net, income would rank this a 3 star hotel experience and not at all the caliber of hotel I expected when I booked the Sofitel.
