Sofitel New York

Excellent location for theaters, museums, restaurants, shopping, and more. Rooms are quiet, comfortable, clean, and spacious. Service throughout is impeccable with special thanks to Arian in the restaurant. He is a treasure.

Mixed experience. The hotel is generally beautiful, great location, super comfy bed. But.. the bath in my room was unusable, the coating/paint was peeling, there were stains that eased some when I scrubbed them. I complained on day one and was told someone would come by when I was out. Didn’t hear anything further. Gold member and not offered space available upgrade even though there was space available and there were issues with my allocated room (asked and was told “we don’t do that here). Tried to avail of my late check out benefit, they tried to charge me for that too and eventually agreed 1pm with no charge. The destination fee was not explained to me so I didn’t spend any of the $25 daily credit I didn’t know I had. I did pay $10 for a can of Diet Coke from the mini bar though. On check out, when I showed the pictures of the bath (to a different agent this time) I was told I should have been moved and the room would be taken out of service and repaired. So the next person will hopefully have a better experience !

Our stay at Sofitel New York was disappointing. The hotel was nice and renovated. But basic necessities did not operate correctly and the staff was not responsive. The thermostat was malfunctions which made the room extremely cold. The blow dryer didn’t work. The made service failed to replace coffee pods when they serviced the room. When we called to request coffee pods they dropped off only decaffeinated ones and then when we asked for regular coffee pods, they ignored us and placed us on hold and then hung up on us. Even after we complained to the front desk, they took the info and failed to take any corrective measures. Finally after we listed all the problems, no one contacted us to apologize or to make anything better. Even at check in the staff was dismissive and curt. This ruined our experience at the hotel. Will think twice before booking with another Sofitel.

The Sofitel New York is our only home when in NYC for the past 11 years. Everything here is simply amazing and impeccable and are the very reasons why we keep on coming back year after year for over the past decade+. We are looking forward to be back next year. The entire staff at the Sofitel New York are simply outstanding, always friendly and very helpful. Special thanks to Felix and Marioara for making our stay extra special and even more memorable this time. Thank you kindly for taking such good care of us during our 8 nights stay. Ithiel is the friendliest doorman; always welcoming with a bright smile and kind/friendly greetings. Many thanks to Ronald, Dos, Sonia, Rolly, Manuel, and Arian for taking such good care of us everyday during breakfast. Thank you Nancy for keeping our room clean and tidy. The hotel's midtown west location is perfectly convenient and within walking distance to all the major attractions in the midtown area: Times Square, Broadway Theatres, Grand Central, Rockefeller Center, Radio City, Carnegie Hall, Empire State Building, Bryan Park, The New York Public Library, Saks Fifth Avenue, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Bergdorf Goodman, Times Sq-42 St Subway Station (Trains 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, W, S), and more.
