I had the pleasure of staying at Sofitel New York from, and the experience was flawless from beginning to end. I was warmly welcomed upon arrival, and the check-in process was smooth and professional. The front desk team was kind and attentive, and I greatly appreciated the personalized welcome card and the recognition of my Diamond status. The two rooms I was assigned had been beautifully renovated — spacious, quiet, and perfectly prepared. Although the hotel is undergoing renovations, not a single element disrupted my stay. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, including rooms on a high, quiet floor away from any potential noise. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Ms. Bénédicte Empereur Uhlrich, Mr. Daniel Ahn, and Mr. Dieter Schmitz for their outstanding support and professionalism. Their follow-up prior to my arrival helped ensure a tailored and seamless experience, entirely aligned with the Sofitel brand standards. Thank you again to the entire Sofitel New York team for such an exceptional stay. I wholeheartedly recommend this property.

Great location, pricey but it’s NY. Great and nice Frenchman at the bar. Hotel is under renovation so look forward to seeing it again soon

The positive: my room was a bit larger by NYC standards. The sheets are divine. The location is great. Virtually NO noise could be heard from the street. The negative (and I can’t stress these enough): First, I was placed across the hotel from the cleaning closet and a stairway. Employees speak in VERY loud voices most of the day and evening as they come and go. It’s mind-boggling that they aren’t more aware of and respectful of guests. Second, the bathroom and entry lights turn off after five minutes. (I asked for the lighting timers to be adjusted and was assured they would be but they were not). So: guests end up showering literally in the pitch-dark. There is no night light at all in the bathrooms. It’s seriously insane, and a huge safety hazard. Third, there is no “toe” rest for women in the shower to rest our feet on while shaving our legs. These rooms have all recently been remodeled and the vast majority of hotels have put these feet rests into hotel showers. So convenient for and helpful to women. The Sofitel? NO. Fourth, the clothes’ steamer - it was impossible for me to figure out how to put water into the steamer. (I travel constantly for work and have significant experience using steamers). One does NOT want to have figure out a steamer in the morning prior to a day of business meetings. When I called for help and/or an iron and ironing board, it took 25 minutes for them to accommodate. I would never stay at this hotel again, given the annoying and precarious lighting situation. It’s truly mind-boggling that the Sofitel’s legal team isn’t concerned about the lighting being automatically shut off, resulting in significant safety hazards.

This was my 2nd stay at Sofitel New York and glad I chose to come back here. I read there was renovation works occurring before my stay and despite this going on, Sofitel kept the hotel running very smoothly and still have the top notch professionalism across the board. My check-in was very efficient. I arrived to hotel early around noon and rooms were not ready. As I had travelled far, they did work to get me in a room as quickly as possible. Within an hour I was able to get into a room. They assigned me a newly renovated Luxury King Room on the 15th floor. The room was nicely appointed and had the new room smell. The room was a nice cool comfortable temperature which was great considering the hot day. welcome amenity was in the room on arrival which was great. The room also comes with updated clock, phone, and a portable steam iron vs. traditional iron and board. While staying the hotel, as the restaurant was closed, I was able to order room service for breakfast. This was ordered and delivered very promptly. The food was great and presented just as if eating at restaurant. Overall I highly recommend staying here. From what I understand they are currently only assigning renovated rooms, so should be a nice and welcome update for anyone choosing to stay here. The staff are amazing and the hotel does a great job keeping the hotel very presentable and keeping public areas very clean. Personally looking forward to a stay once the renovations are completed.

Firstly, the quality of the hotel is subpar for what I expect of a Sofitel. It is dated, drab and worn. The pictures online suggest a grand lobby/entrance and a bit of old-style New York glamour - it is none of those things. The rooms are very basic - no luxury elements at all - just two beds and dresser in our room. Our first room had broken items (closet, safe) and we were transferred to a new room which was fine and equally as basic.
We also ate at the GABY onsite restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, which was terrible and the service was mediocre.
Net net, income would rank this a 3 star hotel experience and not at all the caliber of hotel I expected when I booked the Sofitel.
