Wonderful stay!
Wonderful service, gotta say. Kenia and Felix were absolute legends in getting us an early checkin and Eddie in the bfast area was wonderfully kind to our two young boys. Would stay again!

Not what I was expecting
This hotel had pros and cons for me. Pros: The bed was supremely comfortable. One of the best beds I’ve ever slept in at a hotel. The rooms were quiet. The bathrooms were huge for NYC. The room was very clean. All the staff I interacted with were pleasant. Cons: I thought the hotel would be more chic. I didn’t really like the aesthetic. There were people hanging out in the lobby that detracted from the hotel ambiance. Wasn’t impressed with the restaurant and the free coffee was very weak - undrinkable for me. The view from the room was not that great. Overall…for a French hotel it wasn’t very French at all. But some good things about it.

Beautiful, comfortable and friendly
My wife and I stayed here this past weekend during a high school reunion trip. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so helpful. We asked questions of the bellman, the concierge and the front desk and got great answers with a smile. Our room was terrific. I heard the hotel was recently refreshed - indeed it was like new including the lobby where we hung out for a bit as well as our room. We also loved the location being so close to Times Square, subways, restaurants, Bryant Park. We will definitely stay at Sofitel New York again!

Excellent Experience at the Sofitel New York
Excellent property in a wonderful location. The room is spacious and open. Front office manager Rafael provided outstanding service and went above and beyond to accommodate us. I would definitely return when I'm back in the city.

Firstly, the quality of the hotel is subpar for what I expect of a Sofitel. It is dated, drab and worn. The pictures online suggest a grand lobby/entrance and a bit of old-style New York glamour - it is none of those things. The rooms are very basic - no luxury elements at all - just two beds and dresser in our room. Our first room had broken items (closet, safe) and we were transferred to a new room which was fine and equally as basic.
We also ate at the GABY onsite restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, which was terrible and the service was mediocre.
Net net, income would rank this a 3 star hotel experience and not at all the caliber of hotel I expected when I booked the Sofitel.
