W New York – Union Square stands at one of Manhattan’s most dynamic crossroads. The area is a transit hub, a gathering spot, a market, a stage, and an enclave. It is as multifaceted as any neighborhood in the Big Apple. We channel the spirit of our setting within our walls, too. With dynamic programming, plentiful public spaces, bold design inspired by the Square, and local-favorite cuisine and bar offerings, our Union Square, NYC, hotel is a place to choose your adventure, be exactly as you are, and play your angle.

It's not the worst, but poor value price. • Poorly designed rooms. No outlets near the only available table. No light in the room's only closet, so you're packing and unpacking in the dark. • Oddly placed light switches. The one in the bathroom is under the towel hanger so it's not visible when you have a towel hanging. The switches are tiny buttons that are finnicky to use and hard to operate in dim light. • I bought an upgraded room for over $500+/night. Upon check in (well past 4 PM), they tell they only have one room in that category available right now, but it has a "minor" view obstruction, and whether that's okay. Minor view obstruction turned out to be a 6' brick wall. Lesson: don't trust hotel staff. • Upon check in they'll tell you that they've generously given you an allowance of $35/day to spend on hotel amenities. It turns out they're charging you a "destination fee" of $40/day which lets you buy $35/day of amenities. How magnanimous. • Internet is $14.95/day if you didn't book direct. $20/night hostels give it to you free. • I called them before I arrived to ask if they could precharge the destination fees they'd charge when I arrived because it would've saved me time in our expensing software. Quite oddly, a basic favor like this for someone paying $500+/night was anathema to the W, and they point back refused to help. • Elevators slow, small, and with frequent stops as everyone is waiting for one. The rooftop bar is nice if you can get in (we were initially refused a reservation despite it being completely empty for the next 90 minutes). The 2nd floor lounge and cafe are great.

W Union Square has made a remarkable comeback with a meticulous renovation that preserves its historic charm while infusing the public spaces and hotel rooms with a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The rooms and suites exude a vibrant and airy ambiance, creating a welcoming environment that allows guests to fully appreciate the spacious accommodations. The rooms are exceptionally clean, and the city views are simply breathtaking. Additionally, the hotel’s prime location offers easy access to a plethora of delightful restaurants and cafes. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to W Union Square!

Had a wonderful stay here recently and as a platinum elite, was upgraded to a Jr. suite that was fantastic. The staff was pleasant every step of the way and the hotel is fantastic too (and very conveniently located I might add). The hotel was also recently renovated as well. Very nice place and I would happily stay at again/recommend.

Redone rooms are still dark. Suite just a big room. Light comes in through many curtains. Door to the bathroom is a sliding door, not a door that closes completely - so more light and noise. Only single sink. Plenty of towels. No hook for towel. Toilet does not have its own room. A/C worked well. No bottle water in room. Not a lot of closet space. Room was clean, maid service fine. Internet was good. Bell service good. Nice location- close to subway Union Square park.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel, the first since the renovations. The lobby is gorgeous! Wow! We had an amazing room with spectacular views of the city. The room was very spacious and clean. We were surprised with champagne for our anniversary! We had a drink in the Living Room lounge, the room was a little too bright for night time, but was a beautiful space! We only had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, next time would love to have dinner there! We wanted to come back for the holidays because we loved it so much, but the prices have really jumped since the renovations! Maybe next year! What a perfect location for the Union Square holiday market! We will return!
