Pendry Newport Beach

My wife and I recently spent two nights at Pendry as an opportunity to get away from the kids. We had been to the area before but wanted to try something different. Based on a recommendation from a friend, we chose Pendry. Here are our observations: Atmosphere. The atmosphere felt very classy, upscale, and youthful. Staff. All staff members we encountered are great and helpful, especially at the reception desk. Location. Yes, it wasn’t located on the beach, however, being located across the street from Fashion Island was good enough. Room. The room was very spacious and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. Pool. The pool wasn’t very large, but even on a Saturday, there was still enough lounge chairs for everyone. There were a couple of toddlers, otherwise the age mix felt like upper 20’s to upper 40’s with some in there 50’s and 60’s. There’s a water station, towel station, and plenty of attendants. Tree Shack Pool Bar. The service was prompt and attentive. The food was really good. Set restaurant. We were there for lunch. Food was really good. Loved the ambiance of the patio..... very energetic. There was a DJ mixing some tunes but it wasn't too loud. Bar Pendry. Most hotel bar are a little quiet and stale. Not this one. To reuse the words earlier wrote, it felt very very classy, upscale, and youthful. By 8:30pm, it was standing room only. NEGATIVE: Noise. Due to fun atmosphere that was present in the lounge and patio, if your room faces the pool, one can hear the noise in your room. Personally, this wasn’t an issue for us, but I can see how it would be an issue for others.

My room faced the kitchen, which has a very noisy vent. I was in Newport for work and had a busy schedule. The noise from the vent was quite disruptive and made it difficult to sleep at night. I requested a room change but unfortunately received no support from the team. I was very disappointed with this experience and will likely try to avoid staying at the Pendry on my next trip.

The Pentry Newport Beach was an amazing experience from arrival to departure. The service was receiving was impeccable. Everything was 5 star.

One of the most disappointing experiences for a hotel that is regarded to be luxury. From my point of arrival and being placed in a run of the house room when I was supposed to have a suite to the WiFi that didn’t work it was a huge disappointment. The conference facilities were nice enough but their staff was inconsistent and rude and unhelpful at times. The quality of the food was inconsistent as well with breakfast being food but their lunch and dinner food was cold and inconsistent in quality. I will book a JW or Waldorf over this particular property.
