We had such a great experience at the Pendry Newport Beach! From the moment we arrived, everything felt smooth and welcoming. The valet team was friendly and efficient, and the check-in process at the front desk was honestly one of the most pleasant we’ve ever had — quick, easy, and genuinely hospitable. Our room was absolutely beautiful — clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. You can tell a lot of care goes into the details. The food throughout our stay tasted fantastic, and the 24-hour pool and fire pit were a huge win for us night owls. Being able to relax late at night by the fire made the stay feel extra special. What really stood out was the level of service. When a small issue came up with some food we ordered, it was addressed immediately. The service manager, Chase, personally made sure we knew how important it was to get things right the first time, which we really appreciated. That level of care says a lot about the hotel. Overall, a very positive experience and we’d absolutely stay here again!

Lovely hotel recently taken over by Pendry and upgraded. Our room on the 15th floor had stunning views across to the Pacific Ocean. Clean, comfortable, great housekeeping, and a lively bar, which is the current hot spot in Newport Beach. it's a big hotel, but delivers an individual service too. The only complaint would be the pool area. it's small, crowded with too many sunbeds and average service. The restaurant area felt unloved and neglected.

We stayed at the Pendry for 2 nights over Super Bowl weekend. My friend who lived in the area told me it was the hottest bar in town. During our stay, there were some great moments, but there were also some letdowns. The hotel is positioned as a luxury property with great service. Unfortunately, some work needs to be done to maintain a higher level of consistency. We arrived on Saturday morning and there was already a lot of partying going on. There were several groups of women who were having a great time in the restaurant and bar which gave the hotel a fun vibe. When we checked in, we were asked about upgrading to a corner ocean view suite, which we accepted. The upgrade also included entrance to the private Elwood club.. The suite had a great view! We had a balcony and the sunset was gorgeous. We decided to tour the property and stop by SET where we had reservations later that evening. There were able to change our reservation to an earlier time and put us on the list for outside. (My review of SET will be separate.) The first issue with service was when we got back to our room after dinner. We had our daughter with us who was sleeping on the pull out couch. It hadn’t been made and there was a nasty stain on the mattress.. We called the front desk and asked for someone to come up and make the bed. No one ever showed up and no one called us to let us know why. Wow, how does that happen in a luxury hotel? The next day, we stopped by the front desk and they apologized and said they would investigate the issue. We asked that the bed be made for our second night when we were out. They assured us it would be taken care of. WRONG! We got back to the room after a long day and the turndown service had been there but the bed wasn’t made. Yesh.. Also, on the first night, the turndown service left water and chocolates by the bed, but not the second night. I know The Pendry is not the Ritz or Four Seasons, but is it really a thing to not have the same level of effort on each night of the stay? A few comments about the Elwood Club and Bar Pendry. The Elwood is a nice refuge from the craziness of Bar Pendry. It is cozy and has a great personal feel there was a life band that was very good. The bar staff were friendly and the service was good. It was pretty quiet until 11 pm ish and has an older crowd. Bar Pendry is another animal and I say that intentionally. The ‘show’ there is like going to the zoo. There are a bunch of dudes staring like hungry cheetahs at the scantily clad women, who are like gazelles waiting to be eaten.. it is loud, it is crazy and really hard to explain how truly crazy it is. Heh, enter at your own risk! Ratings: Room - 5 Elwood - 4.5 Food Quality - 5 Restaurant Service 4.5 Service - 1 (This carries a higher weighting given the room prices and expectations)

They spared no detail on this renovation. Great bar, food, pool, and the staff was extremely welcoming. Blake S. and the valet team hustled which made exploring that much easier! A+

Good location and a very cosy hotel despite it being so big. Huge bathroom, with plenty of towels and toiletries. Comfy bed, plenty of hanging space. Housekeeping very helpful with requests. All in all a great stay. However, the pool area and pool restaurant felt very grubby. When we had lunch the chairs were full of leaves, and the table dusty. Admittedly you are sitting under trees but you can tell the area is not being swept very often, and the tables not wiped down before service. We only had one lunch there, the food was ok, but served in plastic bowls! We were sitting at a table - not by the pool where it’s fair enough not to have glass and crockery. We felt like we were sitting at the children’s table. There’s lots of sun loungers with horrible dirty marks and the curtained off areas are full dumped foam cushions, extra tables and chairs and yet more leaves. It looks horrible. No attention to detail which is a shame as everywhere else was lovely.
