Luxuriously Relaxing !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Had an amazing overnight getaway with my sister for New Years Eve. The 100 fountain spa at pillar and post is so relaxing ! The outdoor hot spring was luxurious! The hotel and spa accommodate many people and there is plenty of space where you are not ontop of anyone else especially in spa and hot springs. For a very busy day of the year our experience was unique and relaxing !

Adequate substitute

Ended up staying at the Pillar and Post after our reservation at the Millcroft was cancelled. The purpose of the trip was to have a relaxing getaway with my sister who was visiting from Switzerland. We had a lovely time and made full use of the amenities, but the vibe of the hotel was much more lively and boisterous than we would have experienced at the Millcroft. The Pillar and Post seems like it caters more to large groups and families. The hot spring was very busy in the evening with large groups of drunk people. We enjoyed the skating rink and the heated outdoor pool. We had a relaxed dinner in the Vintages Lounge (the fish and chips were delicious). Our room was comfortable and cozy with a fireplace. The spa was quieter and more relaxing in the morning. I might come back to the Pillar and Post with my family or a group of friends, but if you are looking for a romantic or quiet, relaxing getaway, I would recommend going to the Millcroft instead.

Overpriced, disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

What a disappointment. We spent $2,000 for two nights (including two facials and afternoon tea for three at the sister property) at this tired, loud, overcrowded and overpriced hotel. We were given a room right off the lobby (104), which meant never ending noise from foot traffic, people upstairs and banging doors. We got moved to another room the second night to an isolated corner (230) but could hear the people’s conversations next door since the walls are paper thin. There is no heating in the bathrooms, resulting in ice cold floors. Both rooms were dated. The second one had broken lamp switches, a non functioning fireplace and safe. The spa is ridiculously overpriced and overcrowded. We decided against going into the “hot springs” due to overcrowding and realizing it was basically an outdoor jacuzzi. There was nowhere to sit to wait for our facials since the spa was so overbooked. At $160 for 50 minutes, the facial was a disappointment and not at the standard you would expect at any other spa. Regarding afternoon tea at Prince of Wales, again would not recommend. Service was poor, sandwiches were dried out, selection was not great. Bottom line: research other places to stay to take advantage of the region. The Pillar and Post is not it.

10 stars

We have no complaints about our recent stay at Pillar and Post. The property is gorgeous and exceptionally clean. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to please. Food was great. Outdoor heated pool was amazing!!! With so many hotels in Ontario falling well below acceptable on all fronts, Pillar and Post goes above and beyond. 10 stars!

Cozy, stunning, holiday getaway!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We booked this as a special weekend away for my Oma and had the most wonderful time. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays, full of rustic charm and the gorgeous bones of the old cannery. We loved soaking in the hot spring (more than once!), enjoying the buffet breakfast, lounging in the cozy robes fireside in our room, and strolling through the beautifully lit gardens by the skating rink. The added carriage ride was the perfect touch, absolutely fabulous.
