Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Our three night stay at the Pillar and Post was very disappointing for a 5 star establishment. In a Superior King room # 120, I would expect a well appointed accommodation but our room was in need of a complete makeover. The woodworking was scraped and scratched, the door to the bathroom was in serious need of paint and the cupboard door to the fridge had hinges falling off. Overall we were very disappointed and will not return or recommend this establishment to others. It must be said the hotel staff were excellent. J M

Great Service and a Beautiful Pool

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

My sister and I stayed at Pillar and Post for a Mother’s Day/Birthday getaway, and we had a wonderful experience. The weather was absolutely beautiful during our stay, which made it even more enjoyable to spend time by the pool. The pool area was fantastic and one of the highlights of our visit. The hotel itself has a charming vintage character, which we appreciated. While our room felt a little dated, it was in keeping with the historic feel of the property and was clean and comfortable. What really stood out was the customer service. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made our stay feel special. The only disappointment was that the fire tables were no longer located near the pool as they were during our visit in January. We really enjoyed that feature previously, and it added a cozy atmosphere to the outdoor space. Overall, we had a great time and would happily return for another relaxing getaway in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Wonderful time at the Pillar and Post

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My husband and I stayed at the Pillar and Post for one night on May 26-27th and we booked the Retreat to Wine Country package which included a 3 course dinner and a buffet breakfast at the Cannery restaurant. The reception desk is excellent and very efficient. We arrived about an hour before check in, however they had our room ready and let us check in early. We spent the afternoon at the outdoor pool which was wonderful. The staff there are also friendly, quick and efficient. The pool temp was so nice and warm, not a shock to get in like some outdoor pools are. We stayed in room 231, which was on the second level and a little bit far from the main reception and dining area, but we liked it. It was a corner unit, so there was more windows (there was a window in the bathroom which was nice). the room itself was OK, looks like it might need a bit of updating in the future, specifically the bathroom, which had some cracked tiles and the ceiling in the shower had a big crack, but overall not a big deal. Now to the BEST part, the dinner! This was one of the best meals I've had in awhile. I had the crab cakes to start, then the bacon wrapped Filet mignon, and then the sticky toffee pudding! everything was delish! the staff are amazing as well, very attentive and friendly. The buffet breakfast was just OK. Not a ton of variety, and the scrambled eggs and potato wedges in the dishes were almost to the point of cold. The staff again was excellent though. All in all we had a fabulous time and hope to come back again in the near future!

Very enjoyable experience. Jheel D was helpful and professional. Loved our room, 205. Fireplace was great as the weather was rainy and chilly. Food was outstanding.
