For decades newlyweds and romantics have flocked to Niagara Falls for memorable getaways. These days they are sequestering themselves behind the doors of the Sterling Inn & Spa, the only boutique hotel to grace this epic region. Built in 1928 and once the home to Bordens Dairy, it was eventually converted into a nightclub and restaurant during the 1980s, and is now part of the Preferred Boutique portfolio and part of the Preferred Hotel Group. Its transition into a hotel started in 2005 with original architectural elements, such as the exposed ceiling beams and three-story milk-bottle entrance, incorporated into the new design. The result is a hybrid hotel combining the best of a luxury resort with the intimacy of a fine inn. Rooms tend to be spacious and thoughtfully appointed with oversize beds, roaring fireplaces, wet bars, and ample-size bathrooms equipped with raining shower heads and body jets. Suites offer not one, but two rooms with sitting areas and plush bedrooms.

This hotel and spa are magnificent! Some places elicit feelings, and this is one of those places. We felt welcomed and comfortable from the moment we walked in. There was relaxing music playing in the background of the hotel and spa. Our King Steam Shower room was clean, well decorated and luxurious, with bath robes, slippers, and a beautiful bed. The room had two levels, which added to the ambiance. We visited the spa for a couple’s massage and pedicure. Tranquility is the perfect word for the feeling we had when we entered the space. Again, the service was exceptional. After a long day riding in 30+ degrees weather, we were hot and sweaty. Our room wasn’t ready yet. The spa owner, who is lovely, offered us access to the showers to clean up before our massage. The massage was perfect, with very skilled and friendly massage therapists. We enjoyed our pedicure, as well. The ladies who took care of us did were amazing. The Sterling Inn and Spa provided an incredible experience. We would not hesitate to go back.

Our stay at Sterling Inn & Spa was exceptional from beginning to end. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade, which made our experience feel extra luxurious. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, with a cozy fireplace, plush bed, and a spa-like bathroom that made it the perfect place to relax after a day at the Falls. The attention to detail in the room really stood out—everything felt high-end, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged for a peaceful stay. Dining at AG Inspired Cuisine was a highlight. The food was fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared using quality ingredients. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—definitely a must-try. What truly elevated our stay was the outstanding customer service. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our visit memorable. From check-in to departure, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. Overall, Sterling Inn & Spa offers the perfect combination of comfort, elegance, and top-tier service. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Niagara Falls!
