About the Hotel

For decades newlyweds and romantics have flocked to Niagara Falls for memorable getaways. These days they are sequestering themselves behind the doors of the Sterling Inn & Spa, the only boutique hotel to grace this epic region. Built in 1928 and once the home to Bordens Dairy, it was eventually converted into a nightclub and restaurant during the 1980s, and is now part of the Preferred Boutique portfolio and part of the Preferred Hotel Group. Its transition into a hotel started in 2005 with original architectural elements, such as the exposed ceiling beams and three-story milk-bottle entrance, incorporated into the new design. The result is a hybrid hotel combining the best of a luxury resort with the intimacy of a fine inn. Rooms tend to be spacious and thoughtfully appointed with oversize beds, roaring fireplaces, wet bars, and ample-size bathrooms equipped with raining shower heads and body jets. Suites offer not one, but two rooms with sitting areas and plush bedrooms.

Great Stay at Sterling Inn

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We recently stayed there for 3 nights. It is what I would call a boutique hotel, meaning it is unique and not a chain hotel/motel with almost the identical layout and features from hotel to hotel. Which is both good and bad, depending on what you are looking for. We were looking for something quieter and a little bit away from the main tourist areas right by the falls. As a result of it being smaller, we were not subjected to the hordes of people that descend from the countless tourist buses that inundate the chain motels/hotels around Niagra Falls. One nice thing is the hotel is associated with, and in the same building, as the excellent farm to table AG restaurant. Which is nice when you're absolutely beat from seeing the sights and want something easy, which happens to be very good. Also right across the street from a very good Indian restaurant. Although very happy with our choice to stay there, and would stay there again, here are a few things that would make for a more enjoyable stay. - Our room was a little dark. Think some better lighting would be nice. Some tall lamps with integrated electrical/USB outlets on the bedside nightstands would remedy that and the item directly below. - Seemed to be a shortage of convenient electrical outlets. - No microwave which would be nice to warm up your coffee and leftovers. - Didn't like the pillows which seemed more decorative than comfortable.

Hotel Perfection!

WHAT an amazing and surprisingly PERFECT stay! The room was large and beautiful. The Bathroom had a huge steam shower….Bathrobes provided. AND an amazing “Breakfast in Bed” with DELICIOUS fresh baked croissants….INCLUDED! The staff was accommodating, friendly, informative… We felt the price was incredibly reasonable and Given what we received and experienced …we would have expected double the price. Exceptional service and attention to all the details! We will be back!

An Absolute Gem! Luxury, Comfort, and Top-Tier Service

I had an incredible stay at the Sterling Inn & Spa in January 2025 and I can't recommend it enough! This is easily one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The Luxurious Room-From the moment I walked in, the room was gorgeous and felt like a true escape. The features were perfect—the fireplace was awesome and created such a cozy, atmosphere, especially during the winter. The whirlpool tub was roomy and was the perfect spot to relax. A huge highlight for me was the lack of carpets; the hardwood floors were spotlessly clean and a welcome detail I wish more hotels would adopt. Service & Dining- The staff and service were absolutely on point. Everyone was friendly, professional, and efficient. I particularly loved the in-bed breakfast option—it was a truly decadent experience. The food was delicious and very generous; I had more than enough to start my day. The Spa - Since I used the spa services as well, massage. I must mention how relaxing and professional the experience was. Overall, if you're looking for a peaceful, luxurious, and romantic getaway with exceptional service and attention to detail, the Sterling Inn & Spa is the place to book. I can't wait to return!

What a wonderful experience! From the time I made the reservation, Deana (manager) was so helpful and friendly! She and Ainya (sp) really made our anniversary stay so special. Tea lights, rose petals, a card - all the little touches that mean so much. Overall, I found the hotel a little dark, rooms and common spaces. But that's the only negative. The location is perfect. Just about everything you want to see and do is within walking distance if you have reasonable mobility. The price of the beautifully appointed room and reasonable add on for the convenient parking make this hotel an exceptional value. The hotel arranged a half day wine tour (Courtney Tours) which ended up being a private tour with our phenomenal guide -Matt Benvenuto. This truly was a highlight. Picked up and dropped off in the lobby. Convenient and just wonderful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and hope to stay here again <3

Birthday 2025

Amazing spot to have a Birthday surprise from my husband. Spa with Tracey was amazing. Dinner at AG unforgettable Chef Cory knows his stuff. Breakfast in bed a nice treat. Bed was hard as a rock. Very uncomfortable. No hot water on September 25th 2025. Husband mentioned it to the young fella on desk he didn’t seem to care.
