Fabulous stay--beautiful views, great service, a must visit even if not staying there. The room was very comfortable, with a view of the lake. Hope to return soon!

Everyone at the Prince of Wales treated us with the utmost hospitality. Colin was clear and concise with our check-in, offering amenities and explaining everything about this awesome building. FRANK is the real star. He took us up to our room through their 100-year old elevator (super cool) and helped us get settled in. It was migration season when we were there so the flies come along with the wildlife and there were a few in our room when we entered. Frank decided to help us catch the flies with his barehands before leaving us to get comfy. What a guy. My hero. At 7pm, they have this historical chat in the lobby where they tell us about the location and all the local points of interest. 30 minutes and a fun listen. The Lounge had great food. My wife LOVED their mushroom wellington. I ordered the tomato soup and the chips & dip. So good. We also did Afternoon Tea and the service, tea and food was wonderful. All in all, an excellent experience. Truly enjoyed it.

The location for this hotel is wonderful. Outstanding views which take your breath away. The hotel is a beautiful time piece and lovely to look at. The young staff are pleasant and very helpful. Sadly that’s where the good things end. Do not expect anything approaching a good night’s sleep due to the noise from other rooms despite wearing ear plugs! There is no coffee after 10 am unless you buy it from the gift shop. There was no tea available at all. It says that residents have free tea and coffee from 6.00am to 10.00am yet on leaving the hotel charges $25 for ‘amenities’ which is parking plus the coffee and non-existent tea!! The only water to be had is located down a steep flight of stairs which is not accessible if you have mobility issues. You have to ask for hairdryers at the reception. On top of all of this are the swarms of flies everywhere! The notices explain that due to being in a national park the hotel can’t get rid of them. It’s awful and we had several bites. The rooms are very cramped and dark. There is a smell of manure everywhere. We were very sad as this was going to be a real highlight for our trip.

This place was a treat! It is like stepping back in time. They have preserved this hotel, incredibly. This hotel is unlike any hotel we have ever stayed in. If you were looking for luxury, this might not be the hotel for you. If you were looking for a beautiful step in the past, this might be one of the best hotels you’ve ever stayed in. The rooms: They were clean, and preserved in the late 1900 aesthetic. They were small, with no TVs. We were on the top floor so it took a very long time for the hot water to come. The beds and pillows, were not incredibly comfy The elevator: The elevator only went up to the fourth floor. They need to be operated by a bellhop. If you were on a floor higher than the fourth, you had to use the stairs. The elevator was built in the early 1900s as well. It was an absolute joy to be able to experience it. The staff: They were professional, and friendly. They dressed in Scottish attire. They took their time with each client to make sure that everything they needed, that they could provide, was provided. Amenities: They provided things such as earplugs (the wind on the higher floors could get loud), yoga mats, sound machines, and other things. There are no TVs in the rooms. There is a restaurant on site. You should book a reservation for dinner if you want to utilize that service. We didn’t know that, but we were able to go into the lounge area, and eat off a different menu. All in all this place was incredible. If you were looking for a step back in time, with professional staff, and you are not in a hurry, this might be the place for you. If you’re a go go, go kind of person who likes luxury, elevators that go to the very top floor. This might not be the place for you. My family and I will absolutely be returning to this hotel.

We visited after a boat trip on the lakes. The views are amazing and it’s an iconic hotel. We were surprised that coffee and cake was not served in the lounge and had to get it in the gift shop. We were told we could bring it back to the lounge to eat. I asked for a plate for my blueberries muffin and then a second time for a knife to cut it with. I got a knife and fork and a large cotton napkin -all very good but I would have expected the staff in a lounge of a hotel to anticipate the customer’s needs. Maybe it’s just the end of the season and people are tired.
