Reviews for Boscolo Nice

Great location - But 5 stars?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

The good: Fantastic location - Literally exit the tram station at Jean Medicine and it's right next to you. Whatever you do, do not taxi from the airport. Tram is quicker and €10 return (potentially cheaper, Google it!). Disembark at Jean Medicine and head for Exit 4 (Victor Hugo). Great service - Staff were always friendly, and the room was cleaned and turned down. Our room itself was spacious and clean. We got upgraded to deluxe so were well happy with that! The pool/spa/gym was top drawer. Everything as it should be. The bad: Drinks prices were eye-watering! Same with food prices. Find yourself somewhere nearby to eat breakfast. The rooftop pool/bar was not setup for the number of guests. It was pretty shoddy up there tbh. And it closed at 6:30. Why?! Much better would have been to drink on the roof rather than on the main road. The ugly: Our view was horrendous! Despite the upgrade, we looked out onto ventilation chutes and a grubby roof. The outside drinks area looked out onto a main road. When you're paying top-dollar for drinks, it hardly felt relaxing of 5 stars! Conclusion: Fabulous location, but I'd avoid eating or drinking there, and find your happy chill place somewhere else. You're not far from the hubbub so you have plenty of choice!

Amazing stay in a beautiful hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Beautiful hotel with great amenities. Very friendly staff and super helpful. The food on the roof too was lovely and the spa was very relaxing. The room was beautiful and felt luxurious. We had a view onto the front of the hotel which was lovely ans not noisy at all. Slept like a baby. I’d visit again absolutely and would recommend to anyone.

5 star potential but let down by poor service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Initially impressed by the spacious marble lobby and our beautiful room with a lovely view of the city. The location is excellent – just a 10-minute walk to the beach and train station, with plenty of good bars, restaurants, and shops nearby. However, a few aspects let the experience down: - the reception desk is small and doesn’t look 5 star in any way • The open-plan shower and washroom setup in the room felt awkward and lacking in privacy. • The rooftop bar, while a great concept, suffered from inconsistent service even when quiet. On two of our seven days, it was closed without warning or explanation. When we enquired, we were given conflicting reasons. Drinks and food are expensive, and the food itself was average at best. • The internal bar downstairs lacked atmosphere – brightly lit like a café – and bottled beer was often served warm, with an ice bucket offered instead (which didn’t really solve the problem). • The restaurant downstairs was nicer, with good service, so credit where it’s due. • The deposit policy is frustrating: €200 per night is charged upfront, but instead of offsetting this against your bill, they take full payment for your extras on top of the deposit and only refund the deposit a few days later – effectively overcharging you until the refund clears.

An Excellent Experience

I can’t say enough about this hotel. The rooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable (bed is extremely comfortable). All of the staff with whom we dealt were friendly and accommodated all of our needs. Great location with easy access to the city center and the river. Next t

Mediocre Hotel in Nice - Ok for Business, but not for Families

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I'm not sure where to start with this, but I hope this serves as a frank review of a mediocre hotel in downtown Nice. We booked it by chance, and my comments are not a criticism of the staff or the hotel itself, but rather an honest account of our experience. We chose this hotel simply because we wanted to be in central Nice. It looked okay in the pictures and was advertised as 5-star. Spoiler alert: this is not a 5-star anything, and it had a completely different vibe than what we were looking for. Our initial plan was to stay for five nights, but we left after the first. We incurred two penalty nights, but none of us liked it enough to stay. What I Liked: - When we checked out early, the staff was helpful and friendly. - The valet service was good: quick, easy, and friendly. - Honestly, nothing else. This was not a great hotel at all. What Could Have Been Different: The Vibe: The ambiance, furniture, and the entire feel of the hotel are cheap, old, and unmodern. Nothing seems to have been updated or given any love for the past 15-20 years. The Breakfast: There was no passion here; just staff roaming around who didn't seem to enjoy their jobs. The breakfast room is split into two different areas. One is dark and moody, and the other looks like a conference room. Nothing about it makes you enjoy your breakfast. The selection isn't very generous, nor does it seem to be of high quality. My feeling is that the other guests felt the same. The Pool: A complete lack of vibe, sunbeds, and service. I think the problem is that no one with ambition is running this hotel, or perhaps even the hotel chain. The Concierge: There wasn't a real concierge during the 12 hours we stayed, but the person who was there strongly advised against going to the beach. They had a contract with a private beach but suggested we stay at the hotel due to "bad weather and strong winds" the next day. It turned out to be an awesome day with no wind and plenty of sun. This hotel is too expensive, too low-quality, and too lacking in atmosphere to recommend or pay their suggested prices. If they halved the price, I might book it for one or two nights if I were alone and on a business trip, but never for a holiday with my family.
