We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Negresco. Proximity to shopping and old town was good and walkable. Staff was very helpful and the rooms were great (and each unique)!

We walked into the Negresco hoping to book a table to celebrate our anniversary at the Rotonde, as it looked so nice online. We were welcomed by one charming doorman who was polite and friendly, but then his colleague stepped in front of him and said were not allowed in because this was a "private hotel". He asked us to leave immediately. We are a couple of professionals nearing retirement, certainly not budget travellers and I hope we looked reasonably respectable. It was all rather baffling and a first for us as we have never been turned away from any luxury restaurant or hotel in the past. We laughed about it and went elsewhere but still, felt a little sad as it looked like a lovely place. Two stars because the first doorman was so kind and welcoming.

My family and I stayed at Hotel Le Negresco for 4 nights. The hotel overlooks the beach and the Promenade des Anglais. The hotel is about a 20min walk from the station and 10-15min walk to the old town. Our family room was large and clean. We didn't have breakfast included in our stay but there are plenty of small cafes in the vicinity which were far cheaper than the hotel breakfast. The hotel has an indoor pool which children can only use during specific hours of the day. The hotel has beach chairs and umbrellas available across the road at additional costs.

We stayed at the Hotel Negresco prior to boarding a cruise out of Nice. The hotel is conveniently located and the interior art work is spectacular. The staff was friendly and helpful and our baggage with quickly taken from our taxi, to the lobby and then to the room. Our stay was short but all of the hotel amenities met, or exceeded, our expectations.

First the positive. This hotel is a unique art collection and hotel rolled into one. It is akin to staying at a museum. The staff were dedicated, friendly, and courteous. Shout out to Caroline (I think that’s the name) at the front desk for looking out for us, speaking an American accented English, and answering all our questions. The uniforms of the staff are unique and add to the vibe. Staff was happy to help anyone take pictures, answer questions, etc. Breakfast staff was likewise very helpful. The room was clean and the bathroom decor was unique and beautiful. Now. The negatives. The hotel is very old and, despite being told it was redone, I had allergies all night- I’m allergic to mold, dust mites, and other things that one finds on ‘older’ properties. Our room was in a wing of the hotel which seemed even older than the rest. There was some kind of event space above our heads and I heard chairs scraping, talking and conversation late into the night. Some rooms have balconies but ours had only a sliding door to a flat gate. No balcony. Sea views were a significant upgrade; perhaps I should have..? This was an ungraded room, the other rooms according to the website were smaller. So despite the excellent service and unique design I would prefer something else with fresh rooms, a balcony and a sea view. Perhaps that could have been accomplished here? I don’t know. I do recommend that you walk through the hotel, wherever you stay.
