Inspired by traditional Omani construction techniques using local stones, the Alila Jabal Akhdar creates a uniquely relaxing environment, from the pool to the spacious suites that look out to mesmerising views of the cliff and mountains. Within the stone exteriors, the resort’s minimalist style blends warmth and colours that reflect the region’s culture. Although an uncommon travel destination, the luxury and adventure of Oman awaits you at the Alila Jabal Akhdar.

Stayed for 2 nights in a Mountain View room. Our stay exceeded our expectations. The rooms are huge with a lovely outside balcony to enjoy the most amazing view. A huge super king sized comfortable bed, a bath & a walk in shower& double sink . There was a seating area in our room as well as a comfortable sofa out on our balcony. When we arrived, we were given a bowl of fruit as well as some delicious chocolate & cake treats . As we stayed on a Monday & Tuesday night, we were lucky as the hotel was not busy although I am sure you will still have a wonderful time if the hotel was full. Lots of sun beds around the pools & grounds to enjoy the views . The pool was at the perfect temperature & we enjoyed the cooler & less humid weather you get being so high up & which was about 10 degrees cooler than Muscat in September. Pool service was good & the lunch we had by the pool was delicious. We just loved how quiet & peaceful the hotel & grounds were . It was a very relaxing couple of days We ate both nights in the main restaurant on the outside terrace. The food ,albeit expensive was exceptional & there was also a lot of choice from Arabic, Asian, Indian & international . Both nights our meals were delicious & the service was faultless. The staff were there to anticipate your every need . We did go to the complimentary star gazing experience on our first night & thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend you go. Every member of staff was friendly & helpful . I am hopeless at remembering names but would thank them all for making our stay so memorable , Our only slight criticism would be the price of food & drink - it is very expensive . We had a starter & main course each plus we shared one of the cheapest bottles of wine on the menu & it came to £ 225 for the 2 of us. They do not charge you for still water & the portion size is generous so you could probably share or forgo a starter & drink water to reduce your bill substantially . Bearing in mind the hotel is isolated in location I am sure they have to pay more to import goods in & hence the high prices. We would love to return & our only regret was not to stay a third night . It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Muscat so a slightly longer stay may be more relaxing . Wouldn’t stay longer than 3 nights though as there is little to do unless you enjoy rock climbing , abseiling & rambling.

We stayed at the Alila for 4 nights with our 10 year old daughter in a Mountain View suite. Photos cannot do justice to how beautiful the place is. The views are stunning and the hotel is beautifully built. As it was their quiet season, the hotel was peaceful and relaxing and just perfect for us. The weather was lovely for us to enjoy the outdoors. The breakfasts during our stay were fully a la carte. We would be served a lovely fruit platter each to start and a basket of bread and pastries along with tea, coffee and fresh juices of our choice. The a la carte menu was extensive with multiple sweet and savoury options, yoghurts, cereals, etc. One of the best breakfast experiences we have had. The food at lunch and dinner was beautifully presented and delicious with extensive options. We mainly had lunch by the pool/ Rose Lounge and dinner at Juniper. Service was personal, and again one of the best we have experienced. The reception team would greet us each time we walked past and ask about our day. Supervisors would come and speak to us, genuinely interested in our experience (we had nothing to complain about but am sure they would put it right if there was a problem). The pool attendants always helped with a smile. Restaurant service was excellent, with waiters always ensuring our water glasses were full and checking in on us regularly, without being intrusive, to ensure everything was okay. A special mention for Abdul at Juniper who truly is an asset to the team and stood out even with the excellent service all around. He really ensured we had everything we needed each morning at breakfast and evening at dinner. One evening at dinner, I sat alone as my husband and daughter had gone up to put some insect repellent on. I mentioned this to him in passing and immediately he brought an insect repellent incense and placed it under our table. The small touches made Alila stand out. My daughter and husband tried abseiling which was a wonderful experience. Both guides were patient and encouraging with my daughter and made her feel safe. They took excellent photos for us. A highly recommended experience. It was a difficult choice for us between Alila and Anantara but we do not regret our choice.

The hotel, staff and scenery exceeded my expectations. I want to come back, and very soon! The hotel atmosphere is calm and the environment is very relaxing. The canyon view (photo attached) was amazing.

Alila Jabal Akhdar is set in an outstanding location high in the mountains, with breathtaking views over the cliffs and valleys. The hotel is beautifully designed and offers a very calm and refined atmosphere. Staff are exceptionally caring and attentive, and the food is consistently good. A truly remarkable property and for me one of the best hotels in the world.
