Reviews for InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I stayed at the Intercontinental Buckhead during the summer market at AmericasMart, and made my reservation through onPeak, the show's official travel partner. It was a relaxing stay, but billing issues kept it from being a five-star experience. The hotel is luxurious, and my room on the eighth floor was tranquil with an expansive view of the Buckhead skyline. The bed was supremely comfortable, and I had restful sleep each of my three nights. There's a resort-style pool with comfortable padded loungers and a hot tub. It was generally a relaxing place to be except for one afternoon when a group of people monopolized the hot tub, sitting at the edge and engaging in annoyingly boisterous conversation. The fitness center is well-equipped and well-maintained, although it is not exceptionally spacious. The food and service at Americano, the hotel's restaurant, were generally commensurate with a fine-dining venue. During my three breakfasts, I particularly enjoyed the yogurt parfait, buttery croissant, and potatoes, which were perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and topped with caramelized onions. One evening, I ate at the bar and had the homemade farfalle pasta with corn and asparagus. It was enjoyable, but a little too salty, and the pasta didn't resemble farfalle at all. It was good, but I didn't feel the dish lived up to the $35 price tag. I would have rated my stay close to five stars were it not for billing issues. I broke my cardinal rule of never leaving a hotel without a hard copy of my bill. This morning, I noticed a higher-than-expected charge on my Amex card. Since I never received the email copy of my folio as promised by the agent at the concierge desk who checked me out on Saturday, July 20th, I had to call the hotel. The agent I spoke with emailed me another copy, and sure enough, there were several issues. I was wrongly charged $55 per night for valet parking. I did not have a car during this trip, and I had no guests visiting who would have parked under my room number. Also, the AmericasMart rate was supposed to include a 10% discount on food and beverage purchases in the hotel restaurant, which the front desk agent confirmed when I checked in. My folio shows no evidence that the hotel applied that discount. The phone agent documented these issues and informed me that they would investigate and get back to me within 24 to 48 hours. My folio was not complex, and these are errors that shouldn't have occurred. Dealing with them is a frustrating waste of my time, and something I never experienced at my numerous stays at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead across the street. Time will tell if the hotel corrects my folio promptly. To summarize, I recommend the Intercontinental Buckhead for an upscale lodging experience in the area. However, it's essential to carefully monitor your folio and confirm it at checkout to avoid any time-consuming hassles after departure.

Very nice stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We booked the three night package which was a great deal. The hotel is well located for shopping and dining. Check in head a long line but we were quickly taken care of and given a very nice corner quiet room. The bed was very comfy and the hotel has recently been updated it’s very pretty the artwork was beautiful. The gym was decent but the pool was a bit of a disappointment very crowded and no seats. We didn’t stay there long and did t return. The staff was wonderful and knowledgeable. Housekeeping was perfect but no turn down but perhaps if we had requested we could have gotten. Breakfast was a bit chaotic it seemed the staff was overwhelmed. As such we ate from the buffet on the weekend its was decent. Table service on Monday was very slow. We were woken Saturday night during two events going on at the hotel and our toilet and shower were backing up. Engineering had to come and clean up. Perhaps two major events and a full hotel are two much for the property. Typically hotels offer complimentary coffee in the am but I had to purchase. It is also in the room. Overall it was very nice. Not quite 5 stars but very nice and good value. Parking valet was excellent but $55 per night. And we did use the house car the first day and it was lovely. We will be back in May for a wedding. Oh and they had yoga Saturday morning on the lawn which was lovely. We had drinks each night at the bar and they were delish. We also had dinner steak and pasta and we were not wowed it was decent but not a wow. Again the staff seemed overwhelmed but everyone was very kind and helpful.

Not Great, Not Awful

Appreciate that room was ready early but it wasn't really ready. Within an hour someone came by to check if we used the minibar because this wasn't done before we checked in. A robe and water were missing and they were stingy with the towels. The cleaning left a lot to be desired. I spilled coffee on my clothes and rinsed it out in the tub, the stain was still in the tub after they "cleaned" the room. A bit more bare bones than I am used to from this brand. The pool staff was super slow -- we waited half an hour for drinks -- a lot of items were out of stock and the menu selection was limited was tiny. We were here for four nights. Wouldn't stay more than two nights here.

Teddy the Driver!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This hotel was amazing! The restaurant in the hotel is delicious and the rooms are truly glamorous. What has me writing this review though is the complementary drivers the hotel offers within a 2 mile radius, and beyond if desired. Teddy is experienced and has been driving for 16 years. He is super friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and delightful to talk to!

Just missing the five star mark

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel is mostly pretty good but just misses out on a five star rating. Housekeeping is not reliable and inconsistent. One day, they did the beds but didn’t change the towels or clean the bathroom. The tissues ran very low but they didn’t refill it. When i called housekeeping for tissues, there was a miscommunication and the person who came didn’t understand. The pool wasn’t cleaned consistently so there were leaves and bugs in it. WiFi is slow, TV airplay function doesn’t work.
