Reviews for Patina Maldives, Fari Islands

A great stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 22 hours ago

We loved Patina. We have admittedly really high standards, and are frequent visitors to the Maldives, and our travel agent convinced us to try Patina for a change from our usual go-to hotel, mostly because of the boat rather than seaplane access. Patina did not disappoint, it was an excellent experience from airport arrival to (sad) airport departure. From manager Anthony who is running a very well-oiled machine, to our butler Dubby, Ziyan who kept our villa looking beautiful, and all the amazing hospitality staff including Koris, Made, Roni, Mode, and Habibi, we felt incredibly well looked after the entire time. If you're into wellness, Geetha has excellent yoga classes, and is of a much higher level of experience and training than you often get to experience in resort stays. They have the first all Maldivian high end degustation experience which we HIGHLY recommend. So much heart and soul has gone into it, and it provided a lovely sense of place to being in the Maldives. Chef Yogesh's food and all the stories were lovely. We were hesitant to visit our first human-made island in the Maldives, as we always stay at natural islands, but the vegetation felt mature and the setting was beautiful and serene. I would not hesitate to visit again, and it's right up there with our usual go-to destination (Soneva Fushi). If you are looking to have a quieter atmosphere, you might want to look up Asian and Middle Eastern school holiday schedules and avoid those weeks. Everyone's children were lovely but there were a LOT of kids there when we were there, and we had left ours at home and would have preferred a quieter environment, but this was entirely our fault for not researching the time we were visiting. You can avoid it by enjoying your own pool villa at any rate.

14 magical nights at Patina Maldives — the staff made it unforgettable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at Patina Maldives for 14 nights in July 2026 as a family of four, and it easily ranks among our best Maldives trips yet. We landed in Male around 6am and reached the resort well before 10am (9am in Male time, since Patina runs on its own island time to maximize daylight). The speedboat transfer was smooth in terms of organization (thank you Areef and the team!), though the sea was choppy, so I'd recommend not eating or drinking much right before the 45-50 minute ride. Since we arrived early, we got a lovely tour of the island, villa (which was ready for us) and still had time for breakfast. One of our sons had his birthday during our stay, and it was recognized multiple times throughout the special day — at breakfast, at the Kids Club, and again at dinner. A really thoughtful touch. Our villa was spacious, with a fully enclosed, air-conditioned bathroom and a large private pool with plenty of outdoor seating. Even though our beach was technically shared with 6-7 other villas, we almost always had it entirely to ourselves. Worth noting: Patina is on a man-made island, but after a few years of growth it looks and feels as natural as any other island we've visited in the Maldives. We traveled in low season and expected mixed weather, but got lucky with only one rainy afternoon in 14 nights. The main effect of low season was wind — pleasant but choppier for transfers and less ideal for snorkeling early on. By the end of our stay the sea had calmed, and I snorkeled several times, spotting beautiful fish, an octopus, and white and black tip reef sharks. There are even baby stingrays near the arrival jetty. The dining variety is excellent. Helios (Turkish/Greek) was our favorite restaurant on the island, Brasa (BBQ) and Portico (Indian / Western) were both great, and Wok Society's Crispy Egg Plant and Kung Pao Chicken were standouts. We didn't manage to try Farine (Italian), Fari Beach Club (sushi/sashimi), or the Maldivian fine-dining restaurant — 14 nights still wasn't enough! A huge highlight as parents: kids' food was complimentary everywhere, including at the Kids Club, which took so much pressure off mealtimes. The Kids Club runs a different theme daily, with flexible staff who'll reschedule missed activities. Beyond arts and crafts, there were treasure hunts and hands-on sessions like sushi making, mocktail mixing, and Maldivian dumpling making, plus a PlayStation and a 3D printer for older kids. We didn't get to spa treatments this time, as the free daily activity schedule kept us busy. A real standout was joining sessions with resident marine biologist Nihaan, whose passion for reef conservation was contagious and genuinely educational. The bikes deserve a mention too — every size available, including adult trikes, with wide paths all over the island. But honestly, the staff made this trip. We knew Choris and Areef from previous stays at Le Méridien Maldives and St. Regis, and they were the reason we tried Patina in the first place — they took fantastic care of us start to finish. The Kids Club team (Irem, Bota, Kay, Mali, Jamin) were wonderful with our boys, and Tuk Tuk Gelato became a daily ritual thanks to the always-friendly Mahmoud, Otmane, and Angel. My wife loved her yoga, sound bath, cold bath, and meditation sessions with Geethanjali, plus a Qi Gong session with Faraaz. I had a blast with sport sessions run by Khun May, including our first Muay Thai lesson, and we were lucky to meet him and Khun Joy, visiting from Capella Bangkok — hoping to stay in touch when we're in Thailand. On the food side, Chef Pema made special Indian dishes for us at breakfast, and Chef Ashok shared soft roll and simit recipes my wife loved. Lio, Ajman, and Widya were also fantastic. At Wok Society, Tian and Zhang went out of their way to cook for us on Cinema Night even though the restaurant was closed. Chef Jakub at Brasa was a highlight too — the first Polish person we'd met working at a Maldives resort. And at Helios, Wajeeh and his team took brilliant care of us, with Chef Muhammet whipping up off-menu dishes that were worth every calorie. We also enjoyed the Patina Gathering meetings, getting to know other guests and management including Director of Rooms Marion and GM Anthony. Our Essentialist, Arey, looked after us so well throughout the stay that we're already hoping to have him again in 2027. We booked using Marriott Bonvoy points, and as a Bonvoy Ambassador member, I felt genuinely well taken care of. For a Design Hotels property, Patina goes above and beyond — we'll definitely be back.

Our stay at Patina Maldives was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the stunning architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and the incredible attention to detail throughout the resort. Every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome, and the service was consistently warm, professional, and personalized. A very special thank you goes to Hajar, who took outstanding care of us throughout our stay. She was always kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful, making sure everything was perfect. Her genuine hospitality made our experience even more memorable, and she is truly a valuable asset to Patina Maldives. The food, facilities, and overall experience were excellent. The only small suggestion we have is regarding the burgers at Go Go Burger. We felt they could be improved in terms of taste and overall quality. Aside from that, everything was absolutely perfect. Thank you to the entire Patina Maldives team for creating such unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to return and would highly recommend this beautiful resort to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway.

Perfect Holiday at Patina

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

It’s been over a week since we returned home, yet we still constantly miss the wonderful and relaxing time we spent at Patina Maldives. This island left us countless precious, unforgettable memories with its stunning ocean views and peaceful atmosphere. We are incredibly grateful to every staff here. Everyone is warm, polite and thoughtful, always ready to offer help with sincere smiles. Special thanks go to our dedicated butler Laamey. He took care of all our arrangements flawlessly from the moment we arrived, including dining reservations, fishing, buggy transfers, late checkout and every little detail we needed. He responded to all our requests promptly and thoughtfully, and gave us many useful local tips during our stay. The whole trip was perfect, many thanks to the whole team. We truly hope we can come back to this lovely island and meet all of you again someday.

A return worth the wait — Patina has come alive

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This was our second stay at Patina Maldives. Our first was back in 2022, during Covid, when the island felt like a peaceful, private hideaway. Returning in 2026, we found it transformed — buzzing with activity and energy, more guests, and a real sense of life. My five-year-old was in heaven at Footprints, the kids club, and spent hours there making friends. That alone made the trip. The arrival set the tone. A seamless airport transfer onto a luxury speedboat, and then a surprise pod of dolphins on the way in — pure delight for my son and me. We were welcomed warmly at the pier and introduced to key members of the team, before our Essentialist, Sardor, took us around the island by buggy and brought us to our villa. We chose a beach villa for the direct beach access, ideal with a young child, and it was impeccable. I noticed thoughtful improvements since our last visit: the TV has been removed (honestly unnecessary here anyway), the blinds are now motorised, and a new pavilion by the private pool makes a perfect spot for in-villa dining. Lovely Bamford toiletries throughout. For my son, they'd set up a little tent with plushies and a swag bag from the kids club — such a sweet touch. Each evening at turndown we were treated to fruits, treats, and small souvenirs to take home. The service was faultless across the board. The staff showered my son with attention, checked in constantly, and anticipated our needs before we voiced them. Breakfast was sumptuous — a generous spread spanning Asian, Western, and Middle Eastern dishes, with an abundance of fruits and pastries. Truly spoilt for choice. Fari Marina Village is a wonderful place for dinner, with live music at night under the stars and palm trees — relaxing, with a great vibe. At Flow Spa I had four treatments over our stay; Yuriko, a visiting practitioner, has truly healing hands, and Mina and Boom were every bit as good. Highly recommended. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff — Sardor, our Essentialist, who was there for us night and day and made special arrangements that made this trip effortless and relaxing; Nitish; Christina; and many others whose names I didn't catch but whose kindness we felt. Guests also have access to The Ritz-Carlton next door for a change of scenery, though we never made it over — four nights at Patina gave us more than enough to see, do, and eat. On our final day we had a late-night flight, and a late checkout until 8pm meant a full, unhurried day on the property, even a sunset dinner by the pool before our departure speedboat. One small note: the beach sand is on the coarse side, likely because it's an artificial island. Pack beach shoes and you'll be fine. We'll be back.
