We were greeted by a very pleasant parking attendant and checked in ahead of the promised time. Front desk team members were extremely pleasant and held our bags until our room was ready. We spent an hour at the rooftop pool--great views! Great service, too! When our room was ready, we were offered a glass of wine, and it was quite drinkable. The guestroom had a super view of the beach and Pacific Ocean. The room was curated, unlike most hotels. Every piece of furniture had purpose, design, and intent. The balcony chairs were comfortable, the bed just right, and the coffee, with a choice of Espresso or Americano, was excellent. The bathroom had a separate toilet area, upgraded and lighted mirror, smooth, strong towels, and great bathrobes. This hotel is first class. We have stayed in many three-, four-, and five-star hotels and cannot wait to return to this one! The old, lousy hotel-restaurant idea is gone here; this hotel has great food! Prices are reasonable, service impeccable. Enjoy! P.S. This is a walkable neighborhood, right on the beach and right across the street from the Oceanside Pier. If you are a fitness fanatic, the Fitness Center is more than adequate but not special. It is, however, up to date with quality, clean, high-tech equipment!

The entire team is on-point and friendly. I LOVED the ocean front balcony room that I was assigned. Housekeeping was quick, efficient and did an outstanding job. If you're a Tom Cruise fan THE Top Gun house is on property which adds a little flavor to an already amazing property. The food for breakfast/lunch on the patio is fantastic and you can't beat the sounds of the ocean coupled with world class people watching just steps away. I've added this property to my San Diego hotels rotation amd can't wait to come back again next month. Also, shout out to Erick at the Front Desk, outstanding customer service!

Honestly one of the best properties I have stayed at in years! Including Ritz and Four seasons. The staff was present when you needed them, always attentive and really helpful. The property was perfect, providing a large mix of opportunities for everyone in the family. My teenager was easily able to get the necessary ocean gear without me having to be present. It was a perfect 4th! The area around was filled with great food and beverage options. We never needed to take the car out after we arrived.

We had a wonderful stay at Mission Pacific Beach Hotel overall, and a big part of that was thanks to Erick Ramos, who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We had booked our stay through the Chase Edit program and reserved what was listed as a west-facing balcony studio. Based on the description, we expected a direct oceanfront view, but the room ended up having only a partial ocean view. Since it was a busy holiday weekend, there weren't any oceanfront rooms available to move us into. While that was initially disappointing, Erick handled the situation with exceptional professionalism and genuine care. He checked in with us throughout our stay and made things right by providing complimentary beverages and food, which we truly appreciated. The only other downside was that the rooftop bar and pool were extremely crowded during the holiday weekend. We had assumed the pool would be reserved primarily for hotel guests, but with the large July 4th crowd and rooftop party, it was difficult to fully enjoy those amenities for the first couple of days. Once the holiday crowds dispersed, the experience became much more relaxing. Despite those minor issues, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, the location is fantastic, and the Chase Edit benefits and property credit added great value to the experience. Most importantly, the outstanding customer service from Erick Ramos turned what could have been a frustrating situation into a memorable stay. We'd happily return and greatly appreciate the level of hospitality we received.

Stayed at Mission Pacific with my teenage daughter in June while in town for a wedding. I booked same day through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, and after taxes, resort fees, etc., the stay was roughly $700 per night. Mission Pacific and its sister property across the street, The Seabird, are clearly the standout hotels in Oceanside. The properties are stylish, vibrant, well-designed, and have a fun energy that makes them feel like the best place to stay in the area. One of the biggest positives is that guests can move between both hotels, use amenities at both properties, choose between pools, and charge meals or spa services at The Seabird back to the Mission Pacific room and vice versa. That was a great touch and made the stay feel more elevated. Arrival was warm. We were offered a welcome glass of Chardonnay/waters, which was appreciated and in line with what is expected from a luxury hotel. The lobby is beautiful, the printed materials and property map were well done, and the hotel does a nice job explaining how to navigate the amenities, rooftops, pools, restaurants, and spa between the two properties. The hotel also did a great job of acknowledging the Amex FHR booking, and ensuring we understood the FHR benefits, how and where we could use them (which a lot of hotels surprisingly do not do well) so this property deserves a nod for that. Since we booked through Amex FHR, we were hoping for an upgraded room with a water view. We arrived before 4 p.m. and were told we could wait until check-in time for a partial water view, but my daughter was exhausted after a 4 a.m. wake-up call, so we took the room available. It was described as an upgrade, but it felt very basic and faced the parking lot/train tracks. To the hotel’s credit, exterior noise from the train and parking lot was surprisingly minimal and did not bother us at all. The biggest issues were inside the room itself. First, the interior noise was extremely noticeable. You could hear everything through the walls and hallway , doors, movement, nearby rooms, banging around and general guest noise. At this price point, that level of sound transfer is not what I would expect from a luxury property. Second, and most importantly, the beds were awful. Truly 0/10. The mattresses were lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. Both my daughter and I woke up both mornings feeling sore and unrested. I am 40, so occasionally waking up a little achy after a night in a poor quality bed might be reasonable, but my 14-year-old daughter can normally sleep anywhere, and even she could not get over how uncomfortable the beds were. We are both fit and active with no physical ailments and both woke up feeling quite stiff and achey. A hotel can have beautiful design, great branding, and an amazing rooftop, but at $700 a night, the bed quality has to be excellent. These mattresses need to be replaced immediately. We spent time at the Mission Pacific rooftop pool- great vibe, music, ambiance, and a nice mix of adults, couples, and families. We were not greeted for service for about 45 minutes, despite it being midday not very busy (maybe 1/4 full). However, once I asked for help, from one of many staff who had walked by but never stopped, the staff was very friendly and genuinely hospitable. The rooftop food was mediocre, but the setting itself and the staff were both great. Piper was one of the highlights of the stay. We used our Amex FHR breakfast credits there each morning, and the food, design, and service were excellent. It is also a perfect spot for photos- very Instagram-y. The staff were genuinely warm, social, and welcoming in a way that did not feel forced. My daughter even commented on how friendly the Piper staff were and how well they engaged with guests, which says a lot. We ate lunch at The Café one day. The guacamole and chips were good, the poke was average, but our server was very friendly and hospitable. Theme throughout our stay was the staff all seemed genuine and were helpful and friendly. The only other issue is that although the lobby and overall property are very stylish, there was a consistent urine smell during our stay. It may have been coming from the sidewalk outside, but it was noticeable and surprising given the otherwise elevated feel of the hotel. Overall, Mission Pacific has a lot going for it: beautiful design, great location, fun energy, strong amenities, a great rooftop, access to The Seabird, and excellent service at Piper. It is absolutely a fun place to meet for a drink, spend time at the rooftop, or enjoy the Oceanside scene. That said, the interior noise and especially the poor mattress quality were major misses. For a property charging luxury hotel rates, guests are not just paying for aesthetics they are paying for rest, comfort, and an elevated experience. The beds in our room were bad enough that they materially impacted our stay and would make me hesitant to return unless I knew the mattresses had been replaced. I did leave feeling somewhat "ripped off" as we departed feeling like we needed a recovery trip or spa day to come back from the hotel mattresses. Pros: ambiance, design, location, rooftop/pool, Piper, access to The Seabird. Cons: poor interior soundproofing, noticeable urine smell near the lobby, and extremely uncomfortable mattresses that are not acceptable at this price point.
