Reviews for Mission Pacific Hotel

Oceanfront room was spectacular!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed in an oceanfront room, which was well worth the extra price. The room was nicely designed, comfortable, clean, and the balcony was perfect for lounging day and night. The ability to also use facilities at the sister hotel, the Seabird, was a nice touch. Overall a fantastic trip - we'll def be returning to Mission Pacific!

The Perfect August Mother/ Daughter Vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I can't stop thinking about my experience at Mission Pacific Beach Resort. We flew into San Diego and took a Lyft to Oceanside. It was a great ride and upon exiting the car our eyes lit up and to feel the cool breeze from the ocean was refreshing. We arrived early as we flew from the south. Our room wasn't available yet but we rearranged our bags, the hotel stored our luggage and then we ate at Hi/Lo and started our mother daughter vacation. I had the chicken and waffles. the syrup had thyme in it. i never had that before but will try it again for sure! YUMMY! My daughter had the breakfast burrito and she enjoyed it. After eating, we walked on the pier and took in the sights. Once our room was ready we headed up and was amazed with the beautiful decor and our partial ocean view served as a great napping spot. Later in the evening we were able to see the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. The location of Mission Pacific Beach Resort is perfect. We were able to walk everywhere. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at various locations. One day we ate breakfast at The Piper which is located in the Seabird which is the sister resort. We also took a yoga class at the Seabird. Sign up early because it books fast and there are only about 10 spots. My daughter(22 years old) wanted a beach vacation and I couldn't think of anywhere that wasn't HOT! I am so grateful to have found this gem! This was a family friendly area. The weather was perfect. The high was 74 degrees. This trip was one for the books. I can't stop talking about it.

Nice hotel

Staff excellent very attentive. Refrigerators don’t work not sure why they have them in the rooms. Train noise pretty significant.

Way Exceeded my expectations

We absolutely love the Mission Pacific Beach Resort! Great area with very clean rooms and an amazing staff! There were tons of fun places to walk to and lots of great places to visit a short drive away. Such a great vibe that transports you into thinking you are in the Pacific, for real! Loved the views, food, staff and decor! We will definitely be back!

Cannot recommend

The hotel gets a ton of great reviews and maybe if you have children that just want to be at the beach this hotel would be fine, but for couples wanting to relax and enjoy the pool don't bother to stay here. The pool in this hotel and the sister hotel next door is quite small and you have to pay for lounge chairs to lay by the pool (or a cabana and both pools have limited quantity). We went to relax and lay by the pool and cut our vacation in half and decided to leave because we could not lay by the pool at all due to being full. We booked an oceanfront room and we were right above the breakfast restaurant so not only was it loud early in the morning but the street noise and the outdoor theater/bleachers on the beach kept it loud constantly as well as rooms being paper thin. The slamming of doors inside the hotel and what sounded like running throughout the hotel consistently and if you stay on the other side of the hotel you have the train sound. There is no room service and the dining options were limited and not great. Don't expect help with your luggage, no one ever offered when we arrived or left. We had to call guest services repeatedly when we needed something like an iron because they would forget and not show up. The sink drained very slowly and the water barely came out. The AC would turn off randomly and when it was on it would blow directly on the bed and freeze you. The toilet flushed so loud our neighbors down the hall could probably hear it each time. The fridge in the room was not cold and did not work as a fridge, more like a cooler that doesn't keep things very cold. I could go on but in the end it was not up to our expectations and the hotel did waive the fee for us to leave early which was appreciated. They acknowledged the pools are small and it seems they may have this complaint a lot. I'm sorry I fell for the good reviews when the reality was far from good.
