Mission Pacific Hotel

My stay was very nice, the hotel is super cute and very fitting for a beachside resort in California. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The meal options were great. The location is really perfect for exploring the Oceanside area. It is also very convenient to Carlsbad as well.

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend for a family wedding, and overall had an excellent experience! When we arrived and got to our room, we had an issue with the beverage cooler. Since we were traveling with our child, we needed a functioning refrigerator for his bottles and food. We spoke with Erick at the front desk and asked if we could switch rooms, and he immediately accommodated us. Erick truly went above and beyond to help us. He actually came up to our room to drop off our new keys so that we didn’t have to make our way back down to the lobby with our baby and all of our suitcases. He also took a look at the refrigerator issue himself and put in a request to have a full-size mini fridge delivered to our new room. He followed up with us the next day to see how our night was and make sure everything was okay. That level of personal attention and care really stood out to us! We also opted out of daily housekeeping during our stay. Whenever we called for anything we needed (extra towels, etc.), our requests were answered and delivered incredibly quickly, usually within about 10 minutes! That was especially appreciated while traveling with a baby. We also want to give a shoutout to the valet team! They were incredibly patient and accommodating with us every time we arrived or left, especially while we were getting our baby in and out of the car. They never made us feel rushed and were always so friendly and helpful. We were also really impressed with how quickly they had our car ready whenever we called for it. Traveling with a baby can make coming and going a little more complicated, so having such a helpful valet team made a big difference! A huge thank you to Erick, the valet team, and the rest of the staff for making our stay so much easier and more comfortable. Excellent customer service can make such a difference, and the staff here definitely made a great impression on our family. We would absolutely stay here again!

If you're going to Oceanside or North County, it's hard to beat this location. Staff is excellent. Location is right on the beach. The food was excellent and cost-competitive (I didn't have dinner at Valle, I'm afraid). Loved the rooftop pool and bar. I'll definitely be back.

To take advantage of an otherwise expiring credit, we booked a two night stay at this beachfront hotel via Chase's The Edit program. This came with plenty of perks, including free breakfasts, upgrade if rooms are available, early check-in and late check-out (if available), and $100 hotel credit. We took advantage of most of the hotel's offerings and had a really enjoyable stay. First, our booking under The Edit program was recognized right away at check-in (around 2 pm) and we were told we'd be upgraded from partial ocean view to an oceanfront view room. That room was not yet cleaned so we provided our cell phone number and we were texted within an hour to let us know the room was ready. The room was a good size, had a nice balcony, and had a fairly large bathroom. Floor-to-ceiling windows did indeed have a fabulous view looking directly out at the ocean and pier. (See photos) The decor was contemporary but with a beach vibe, which was very appropriate. There was a good amount of closet space and some drawers, as well as a safe, clothes steamer, a Nespresso maker, bathrobes, rubber slippers, and a mini-fridge stocked with beverages to purchase but also room in the fridge door to cool down some bottles of water, etc. The hotel is ideally located directly across the street from the pier and a very nice beach, and is adjacent to Mission Avenue, the main East-West street on which most of the restaurants and shops are situated. Across the street from the non-beach side of the hotel is a large surface parking lot that you can leave your car for only $5/24 hours. Each night at midnight, the clock resets so you either have to go to the machine to purchase another day's worth of parking or use a convenient app and buy the additional day at midnight using your phone. It's a bit of work but if you'll be up anyway at midnight, it's a reasonable way you can save $50 or so that you'd otherwise pay each day for overnight parking with the hotel's valet. The hotel's public areas are very inviting, especially the outdoor walkway on the ocean-side, which has a gas fireplace and a long, narrow water feature drawing one toward the beach. In that area, there is also a gelato place located in a building that apparently was filmed as part of the TOP GUN movie. The breakfast credit we got could be used at the hotel's beach-facing casual restaurant called The Cafe, or at Piper, the non-beach-facing restaurant at the hotel's sister property across the street called The Seabird. We found the menu at The Cafe to be more attractive so we used the credit there. We enjoyed that breakfast hours were generous and the outdoor seating offered a decent amount of shade, along with ocean views. The food was tasty though not exceptional. Service was somewhat spotty but adequate. On one day, we took advantage of the complimentary beach chair + umbrella rental across the street at the beach. This is accessed by a modest trailer called the Beach Rambler. You just provide a hotel card key and a friendly staff member will provide you with beach towels, and then lug a couple of beach chairs and an umbrella (which he sets up) at a good spot on the beach. Great service for a small tip. On a hot day, the shade, ocean sounds and a nice breeze were wonderful. Later, we went up to the 6th floor pool area to relax and have some lunch and drinks. The menu there was curiously limited (humus and pita bread, chicken sandwich, and grilled octopus--but no burger or much else in between). But the sandwich was tasty and the cocktails were fun and icy. It was a great way to spend the $100 credit around the pool. We later returned to the pool deck to catch a glorious sunset (see photo). The second day we were at the hotel, we received a note that the hotel's pool area would be closed starting at 3 pm, presumably for a private event. But we were told we could access The Seabird's pool by receiving an access card at our hotel's front desk. We did that just to compare the two properties' pool areas. The Seabird's pool was a bit larger and seemed to have more lounges available than the Mission Pacific's. The Seabird also seemed to be a bit more family-oriented, whereas our hotel's pool vibe was more adult, with a DJ spinning records and a few waitresses working the area to provide food and drinks. (It appears that the pool-adjacent restaurant at The Seabird was undergoing rennovation; when that is working, it is quite possible that the vibe of that hotel's pool area would also be different.) We found our two-night staycation at the Mission Pacific to be delightful overall. The only thing that we didn't care for was the bathroom's faucet. It seems odd to say this, but the faucet could only be turned on/off by twisting a collar horizontally. It may at first appear to function only as a water flowing "on" or "off" and not changing the temperature, but sometimes it seemed to slightly become warmer if you turned it all the way (or perhaps only if you waited several minutes?). In any event, it was the least straight-forward spigot mechanism that we've encountered and there's really no need for that; it's not as if it were part of a beautiful/artistic device. It should be replaced with a more conventional faucet mechanism.

Amazing hotel, location and amenities included. Worth getting an Oceanview room - beautiful view in the mornings and evenings. We loved it and the rooftop pool.
