Reviews for Ojai Valley Inn

Great with my family

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We had a great stay at Ojai Valley Inn — it's a wonderful spot for families with kids. The kids’ pool and adult pool being separated is a huge plus (I definitely miss the adult pool already!). Our room was clean and comfortable. We were located above the store, and while we could hear some music in the mornings, it wasn’t constant and doesn’t seem to be an issue in all areas. The general store was perfect for grab-and-go food — super convenient and tasty. Oak is a great breakfast spot, and the evening kids' movie was such a nice touch for our little ones. We truly love coming here and want to keep coming back. The pricing feels fair-ish, though slightly on the higher side — it would be great if there were some discounts available for off-peak dates. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended for families.

Not the experience I paid for

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I did not find my stay warranted the price. In fact, this is my second stay, and this was worse than the average hotel stay. I arrived and was offered a room that was the furthest away from everything, and the desk person clearly saw I had my 4 year old daughter with me. Why would I want to have to shuttle everywhere or try to walk everywhere with her, when she’s going to want to be near the pool? I was also told that we could do the artists cottage (by two different employees) the next day from 10-11am for $18. I asked to speak to the concierge at check-in, but they were not there. When they called and left a msg they stated they were calling to help with booking their bee keeping activity. The next day upon arriving at artist cottage, there was a private event. Well I would have booked camp oak, had I known this! Annoying, because you can’t book the kids club last minute, and it’s like $30/hour. Concierge recommended biking into town and doing the honey tasting at Heavenly Honey… fine. Had to pay $18/hour for the bike, because the only one with a trailer was battery-powered, so it wasn’t included. I think the concierge should know that the ONE day of the week Heavenly Honey is closed is Wednesday, the day she recommended we go! This is precisely what we rely on concierge for! The next day with camp oak booking was similarly bad experience with the concierge, them not being available, then nobody being available to host the kids club/camp Oak, then them calling back hours later asking why we hadn’t shown up… because they never told us we could! Also, it seems the concierge only works from like 9ish/10 to about 3? And they weren’t available when we checked in around noon. When I pay $900/night plus $60 resort fee plus $60 parking plus kids club and all the other fees, I expect good service. This was BAD service. Maybe all the staff took vacation after a busy holiday week—I don’t care. If the service was going to be poor, maybe give your guests a heads up. There’s more to it, but not worth my time. So very disappointed. I’m a single dad and I pay thru the nose to make sure I have enjoyable vacations with my daughter. I wish I could get a refund. I also had asked for the manager to call me so we could check out a day early based on this experience. Of course, no call.

Wonderful way to spend the 4th!

Love the property and the staff. We went over the 4th and the OVI thought of everything from pony rides, to midway games and great BBQ. Thank you all for a lovely and memorable family holiday get-a-way!

Anniversary Bliss

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

One of the most peaceful and relaxing places on the planet. We only stayed an evening, but enjoyed 36 hours of bliss. I felt so relaxed while there, I only wish I could've stayed longer!
