Reviews for Su Gologone

Beautiful and Unique Hotel in a stunning location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I had the pleasure staying Hotel Su Gologone in early May 2026 and it was a truly magical experience. While doing research to plan a mother daughter road trip around Sardegna, I stumbled upon a photo of the hotel that sparked my curiosity. I looked it up and was immediately smitten so of course I had to rearrange my plans to include it in my itinerary. My mom and I spent three nights at Hotel Su Gologone. It was the perfect place to end our 3 week travel adventure. Everything was amazing, from start to finish. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked into reception. All the staff I encountered or interacted with was friendly and warm. The owner Giovanna is a lovely and talented woman. Her artistic vision is what makes the hotel extra special. Her own personal artwork can be seen throughout the hotel, along with an extensive collection of art from various Sardinian artists. The entire hotel is like a museum, showcasing the local culture and traditions — pottery, traditional masks and costume. It’s a treasure trove of art and history. The hotel grounds is huge. I got lost a few times trying to get back to my room but I found that to be part of the fun because I was constantly discovering something interesting. Literally every corner is a pleasant surprise. There is so much to see. I wish I could have stayed at the hotel longer. There is a cute little library full of books about Sardegna, cute little nooks to chill out in, beautiful gardens, and so much more. The restaurant is always very busy at dinner time as it is also open to non-guests. I dined there twice during my stay. The food is good. It is traditional Sardinian cuisine so don’t go expecting what you would see in a typical fine dining establishment — the cuisine is simple but delicious as it is made well and with fresh ingredients. I especially loved the culurgiones and the roasted meats. I was really looking forward to one of the specialty dining experiences (Sos Nidos or dinner in the vegetable garden) but unfortunately they were not yet open as I visited early in the season. I was able to experience the bread making demonstration however and it was really nice. My favorite place of the hotel is the Magic Tablao bar. The setting is spectacular. It is beautifully decorated with incredible views of the dramatic Supramonte mountains. The prices are a little steep but the cocktails are well made — both tasty and pretty. Needless to say I racked up a small bill there. On our first night there was live music. I don’t remember the name of the gentleman singing but he was very talented and also super engaging and fun. The room I stayed in had a huge terrace with a bathtub outside. Having a bath outside surrounded by nature and incredible views as the sun is coming up is nothing short of spectacular. This hotel is simply amazing. It is worth the money for the experience. I have stayed in many hotels in my lifetime and I have to say that this one is the most unique. I hope that I get the opportunity to stay at this charming hotel again in the future. I would love to partake in one of the workshops next time around and spend more time soaking in the atmosphere. Special shout out to Christian who was so incredibly friendly, welcoming and a delight to converse with.

Su Gologone in Summer

Our stay in Su Gologone was nice. We chose the property to enjoy some quiet time with our 23 month old daughter (who absolutely enjoyed the pool) and to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. The room we stayed at was a bit small but we managed to make it work even with a crib beside our bed. The style is very traditional but we had what we needed in the room. As per the staff, we found them very helpful and warm in general. Our daughter has food allergies so we asked the kitchen staff to cook something specific for her and they did. The two gentlemen (forgot to ask for their names) at the reception were really courteous and happy to assist every time. In the main dining hall, Ms. Franca’s service delivery really stood out among all the other servers. She was always smiling, accommodating, and happy to interact with clients to make the dining experience one of a kind. Considering that dinner is always a very busy time for them, Ms. Franca was calm and attentive. I’m mentioning this because one server in particular forgot to serve a few things / took a long time to come back to us to clear the dishes. I know that these things might seem small but when it happens repetitively, then it can definitely affect the experience. For our last dinner at the property, I approached Ms. Clio, (who was in charge of the seat plan for dinner) the night prior, if we can have a table that has a nice view of the sunset or a table in the lower area (which has a more quiet atmosphere) as we are celebrating our wedding anniversary. She said she can’t guarantee any specific table, however, she would try her best. The next day at lunch, she approached us to ask if our daughter will be with us for dinner as she was already doing the seat plan. When we arrived at the dining area that evening, she escorted us to a table that didn’t have a view of the sunset (behind other tables) and not even a quiet area at least. That was quite a bummer because we even noticed some guests who were assigned again to the same tables that directly has panoramic view. I have no idea how she does the seat plan but it’s definitely not done thoughtfully. When asked about it, she just bluntly said that as she mentioned, she cannot guarantee anything. Overall, it was a lovely stay but the unpleasant feeling we felt on our last dinner (wedding anniversary) was quite hard to forget.

Great place to spend some time

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

This is an amazing hotel with so many difference spaces to explore and enjoy. We stayed three nights and took time to check our all of the collections of art and handicrafts. The restaurant is very good. We participated in one of their specialty outdoor dinners (Blue Zone Dinner) which was a highlight and they have several different specialty dinners during the week to chose from. It is a short walk to the Spring, which was a very nice outdoor experience. There is a nice restaurant at the Spring which made for a nice light outdoor lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is a little isolated and other then the Spring there isn't much else to see, but there was so much at the property that we didn't feel bored.

Interesting hotel but very average restaurant.

Nicely located in mountains, great staff. Breakfast was excellent. We got a room upgrade, very friendly. Only problem, due to central heating the room was uncomformably warm. For a hotel in the middle of nature it is puzzling why they waste energy like this. Restaurant was not great. Going to this region in October is challenging as everything is already closed for the season

Amazing hotel with so many areas to explore

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

Remotely located, this is an extensive and interesting hotel. So many areas to explore with small outbuildings and unique areas to sit. Gardens are remarkable for size and variety. Food in restaurant was very good but 8pm opening for a great meal is too late. Rooms are interesting and there can be lots of steps. No shower in room. Really friendly staff.
