What a mess!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We had stayed at this hotel prior to all of the building and road work that is going on in downtown Omaha. After driving nearly 500 miles from Denver, tired and looking for a straightforward check-in, instead we were greeted with a single lane street, tall fencing and a gravel and mud driveway. The hotel had placed no signage to indicate just how to pull in. Trying to pull up to the hotel was impossible with two cars left by guests awaiting valet to drive them off, so backing up on the street to take a second gravel/mud driveway, lead us to nose up to the main entrance. My husband got out and inquired at the desk and was informed "Just leave it there." While I was waiting in the car, a truck was trying to exit their garage, and I was in the way. I suggest (and a tip we will adhere to ever after) that you call the hotel directly if you are booking online, not just in Omaha but anywhere to inquire if it is under construction inside or out. Though they upgraded us to a suite, it didn't make up for the frat house environment at 2:30 a.m. with guys running the halls, banging on the doors and talking loudly. Finally, at 3:30 a.m., the noise stopped.

Nothing like the photos!!!

We booked a Deluxe King Suite. It looked nothing like the photos and there was an empty room. We tried to immediately check out and they wouldn’t help us or let us talk to a manager. Additionally there is no parking except valet and the streets all around the hotel are under construction.

Beautiful historic building with lodging, food, and full bar.

Don’t let all the road construction deter you from staying here. GPS may not help a great deal right now since some roads are closed around the hotel. The Deco is in a historic building, and the lobby features most of the “art Deco” design with marble floors and walls, and lovely designs. They have a really wonderful restaurant called the Monarch that takes you down a couple levels (like it’s sunken.) Don’t trust the online menus, they were all wrong. Prices are about what you would expect for the old market district. The food is very flavorful and tasty. I tried their pork egg rolls for an appetizer. Instead of a little egg roll like you might normally expect, these egg rolls were burrito-sized, with a crispy exterior. There is also a “speak easy” but I didn’t get a chance to see it. 24-hour valet is a must right now with so much road construction, and worth every penny.

Historical charmer

For a historical property, this one is wonderful. At ~$140/NT it’s fantastic. Be aware, as of Feb 2026, there is construction going on immediately outside right now, and I’m not sure if that’s why the rate was as good as it is, but I’d say this would compare to a $200+ a night property in most Midwest locations. Room 600 is what I’d call a studio suite. Dining table could easily fit 6 (4 chairs provided). Comfortable bed, great pillows. Resort style shower. Robes provided. Fridge/micro/Nespresso in room. Approximately a 15 minute walk from the CHI Center.

Service at Monarch restaurant is somme of the worst I've ever experienced anywhere!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Hotel was fine. The Monarch restaurant connected to it was abysmal. I had horrendous service almost every meal. One meal I got up and left because they took 20 min and hadn't even taken my drink order. The next morning I went down at 7:15 (supposed to open at 7) and there was nobody there. No servers, no cooks - nobody. Of all the meals I had there, only the breakfast served by a waitress named Cheyenne was a positive experience. If you want to eat at the hotel where you stay, DO NOT STAY HERE!
