Sun Gardens Dubrovnik

Our family stayed at Sungardens in the end of August. Excellent service! Wonderful hotel territory! Very friendly workers! Very clean! Especially I would like to highlight the Club Longe worker - Viridiana! She is not only an excellent worker, but a wonderful person as well!

We came to this hotel as part of a corporate work trip. This is a luxurious hotel with elegant decor. The staff are all friendly and very attentive. The food is excellent and there was a good variety of vegetarian food. Most of our meals were catered for but we did have two meals in the Cilantro restaurant made with fresh ingredients and were delicious. There are several pools with plenty of towels and staff who are very helpful. The beach has clear water with plenty of sunbeds. Our room was very spacious and comfortable.

What an absolutely exceptional hotel, we could not have asked for better. We had some noisy neighbours above and straight away were moved to an Executive Suite which was huge (we were happy with our initial room) but this was double the size. The breakfast was fabulous with every possible taste catered for. The spa treatments, sauna and jacuzzi were heaven. There is also a sports area where we had a game of badminton and pool. The staff were very pleasant, nothing was too much for them, always on hand with a smile. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It was perfect. We only stayed for 7 days and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Over the years, we’ve had many happy holidays around the world at hotels affiliated to the Leading Hotels of the World group. Seeing that Sun Gardens was a member, we decided to try it hoping for high standards of luxury. We came away rather bemused. It’s a decent hotel but there’s no way I could possibly describe it as luxurious - although the price point certainly is. In its favour: Pretty location Well tended grounds High standards of housekeeping: swift response to requests Helpful concierge team with excellent response to bad weather Lovely, quiet pools with good assistance from pool staff Less impressive Functional rooms and suites. Some very odd layouts. Breakfast was like a rugby scrum - I don’t appreciate having to queue to serve myself coffee by the cup - if you can get a clean cup - from a vending machine. The hotel seemed unable to cope with large numbers during high season (which is never an excuse at this supposed level). Extortionate pricing in bars and particularly restaurants. We’re quite used to paying for a high end experience but this was really too much, considering the quality provided. The on site shop was laughably expensive. My last comment is particularly pertinent, given the fact that you are so very isolated here. It’s practically impossible to walk anywhere of note, as the shortish distance to the rather lovely town of Zaton requires taxis/transfers; there are only sporadic pavements and the road is fast. Thank goodness that we were able to spend time in the many gorgeous tavernas there! In short, a really mixed experience, we won’t be repeating.

Words cannot express how amazing our stay has been at the Sun Garden Resort. From the facilities, to the atmosphere but more importantly the professionalism of all the staff whose attention to details is astonishing to say the least. Very warm and special thanks to the staff of the breakfast buffet and the “La Pasta” Restaurant (Cesar, Luis, Zeljka, Wendy, Mario, Ezequiel, Sara) for their hard work and for making us feel at home. We will be returning hopefully next summer!
