At Amani Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar, the day starts - and ends - with the Indian Ocean. Set on Paje Beach, one of the finest stretches of sand on the island, Amani is all about laid-back luxury and puts the warm, tropical water centre-stage. Step into the hotel and the tone is set: you’ll find hand-carved mirrors and traditional textiles framing the biggest draw – that view of the horizon.

We stayed in this fabulous hotel in November and it was utter luxury. Every member of staff worked hard to make the stay very special. We have to leave a special thank you to the wonderful Robert who managed the restaurant, bar and team - thank you for looking after us so well and making our daughter's Birthday so memorable. We appreciated the small touches, like pool bags in the room, availability of yoga mats for the beach and our gifts on leaving - thank you. If you are looking for an outstanding hotel, great service & perfect location then this is the hotel x

This was a perfect recovery spot after a Kilimanjaro trek, and Zanzibar as a whole is a contrast from the Tanzanian mainland. Staff was attentive, knew me by name after the first day and made me feel especially welcome. Great location south of the main hubhub of Paje beach, but easily walkable to the village center. Food was all fresh and terrific; seafood was especially great in my opinion. Can't speak to spa/massage services, but the pool and beach area were clean and well-kept, as was the entire property.

We were so lucky to stay in the most beautiful room in the hotel (room number 10) for a whole week. Spacious, on the first floor, with a balcony, great view of the pool, the beach and the ocean. The hotel and the room are decorated with taste. The hotel is meticulously clean. Beautiful and well maintained garden and beach area. Note that, as with all the other hotels in the area, the sun beds are not placed close by the sea because of the high tide and privacy, but this is perfect anyhow. Overall the staff is superb, service minded and well trained. This applies to the gardeners , the cleaning ladies, drivers, the equipment boy, the waitresses/waiters, the cooks and chef and everyone I forgot. In the restaurant the staff is very friendly, with big smiles and humor. Everybody made us feel very welcome. A special thanks to Sulaiman, Penda, Josephine, Amina, Robert, Rahma, Sybil, Elizabeth and Saumu for making our stay so memorable. We had half board so we ate breakfast and dinner here every night. The breakfast buffet was very good and elaborate, with fresh fried eggs and pancakes. Dinner was very tasty with fresh ingredients from the area. We did in total 4 different massages and they were very good. We highly recommend doing this during your stay. Very fast and clear communication with Elizabeth from the front desk before and during our stay. Conclusion: Amani delivered top quality. Thank you! Ps snorkeling at the blue lagoon is highly recommended!

Following 2 weeks of safari we had a week to relax at the beach in Zanzibar. This is a small hotel about 20 minutes walk long the beach to the south of Paje. Capacity of 18 rooms but was around half full while we there. The staff were brilliant - friendly, helpful and fun. We got to know many of them and felt more like family than staff. The room was very comfortable, fully appointed, with views over the hotel grounds and the ocean. Dining was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel the staff were friendly helpful and accommodated all our needs. Thanks go especially to Robert, Rahma, Amina and Sulliman for making our dining and drinking experience just what we wanted. Turning just at the right time to replenish drinks whether that be at breakfast or at an evening meal. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Rooms were spacious with everything we needed. Even though we had a partial ocean view room and looked out over property being developed we were not in there enough for us to be bothered. The beach was gorgeous and walking into the sea Ona daily basis was a must. Security at the hotel was good and there were no issues.
