At Amani Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar, the day starts - and ends - with the Indian Ocean. Set on Paje Beach, one of the finest stretches of sand on the island, Amani is all about laid-back luxury and puts the warm, tropical water centre-stage. Step into the hotel and the tone is set: you’ll find hand-carved mirrors and traditional textiles framing the biggest draw – that view of the horizon.

What a nice experience. We spent four nights in a lovely ocean view room and enjoyed every minute. The place is beautiful and very well taken care of. The room had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. All the personnel were extremely friendly, we really felt welcome. So if you want a really nice hotel this is an excellent choice.

I booked a stay at Amani Boutique Hotel seeking the peace and relaxation that Zanzibar is known for. Unfortunately, my experience was disrupted before it even began due to the hotel's insistence on charging an illegal 3% commission on credit card payments. I am well aware of the national regulations. I pointed out that the Bank of Tanzania issued a strict directive (reaffirmed in December 2024) and specifically cited Section 19 of the 2024 Guidelines on Fees and Charges, which prohibits merchants from passing on transaction surcharges to guests. Despite my attempts to resolve this, the management attempted to deflect responsibility, falsely claiming it was a banking "implementation" issue. This lack of integrity and transparency is deeply concerning for a property under the Hilton brand. I chose to cancel my booking as a matter of principle. I cannot support an establishment that operates in violation of central bank regulations and disrupts the peace of its guests with hidden fees. If you are looking for a stress-free stay that respects both the guest and the law, I would suggest looking elsewhere until this property aligns its practices with Tanzanian law.

Wonderful experience here even if it was for a short stay. Room #10 was amazing with wonderful view on the indian ocean, staff was kind, massages great and food excellent. It’s the best accommodation we stayed in during our holiday, really worth the price.

Amani truly is a little slice of paradise. From the very first moment, you’re welcomed by a calm and serene atmosphere, with powder-white sand, turquoise waters, and surroundings that invite complete relaxation. The hotel blends beautifully into nature and feels exclusive without ever being pretentious – the perfect balance. What truly makes the stay unforgettable, however, is the staff. A special thank you to Elizabeth at reception, who was incredibly professional, warm, and solution-oriented – always greeting guests with a genuine smile. Also, Robert in F&B deserves high praise. His attentiveness, presence, and authentic sense of hospitality elevated the entire dining experience. The service throughout the hotel is personal, engaged, and sincere – you genuinely feel seen and cared for as a guest. The evening meals, which are included in the room rate, were of very high quality. Well-composed dishes made with good ingredients and thoughtful balance – particularly impressive given the all-inclusive nature of the offering. Breakfast was also very good, with a nice variety and a relaxed, enjoyable start to the day. The only minor downside during our stay was that the power occasionally went out, which meant the AC and WiFi were temporarily unavailable. Understandable given the location, but noticeable when comfort amenities are affected. Overall, Amani is a fantastic hotel – a place for complete relaxation with outstanding staff and excellent food. A destination we would gladly return to.

Lovely hotel in fabulous location. Downside building work outside hotel so early wake up call at 7am every day. Hotel bar closes really early so nothing much to do at night also service slow at the beach. Manager is good and we expressed our issues with her. Think it needs the manager to be on site more as she is not often around.
