At Amani Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar, the day starts - and ends - with the Indian Ocean. Set on Paje Beach, one of the finest stretches of sand on the island, Amani is all about laid-back luxury and puts the warm, tropical water centre-stage. Step into the hotel and the tone is set: you’ll find hand-carved mirrors and traditional textiles framing the biggest draw – that view of the horizon.

Normally I write positive things about the places I visit, but this time I can't. We went to this hotel to spend our honeymoon, we were very excited, a priority for us was that the room had a sea view and when we saw that the reservation indicated that we would have a sea view we proceeded to the reservation, however when we arrived and entered the room we had the unpleasant surprise that there was no sea view, that destroyed our dream, also when we pointed out this detail at the reception, the person who attended us told us that we had not indicated our wish in the reservation, that response ended our illusion completely, we replied that we did not have to indicate anything that it was already stated in the characteristics of the room and therefore it is assumed that I am going to receive what I pay for but it was not like that, furthermore they did not have any detail to compensate us for this lack of honesty. As for the restaurant, the food was very good and we loved the service from the waiters and the kitchen. We are very grateful. However, the cocktails were very poor, and the prices were very high. To our surprise, every time we looked up at the thatched roof to admire the design, we found rats walking on top of us, where we were eating. This was very unpleasant. In conclusion, Zanzibar is a great place, but we will not stay at that hotel again.

Once again a wonderful holiday at Amani. From the very warm welcome back from Elizabeth through the great service in the restaurant from Robert and his team together with ready smile and professional attitude of all the staff, everything was to our taste. Talking of taste, all meals were excellent with a wide choice. As ever, our room was comfortable and very clean and well maintained and the hotel a quiet oasis on the lovely beach of the Indian Ocean. Thank you everybody, we hope to be back with you all in the not too distant future.

We stayed at the Amani Boutique Hotel near Paje during our vacation in Zanzibar, and it was truly a wonderful experience. From the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always went the extra mile. It often felt like they could read our wishes before we even spoke them! Their warmth and professionalism truly made our stay unforgettable. The hotel itself is spotless, beautifully maintained, and very well equipped. The location between Jambiani and Paje is excellent, offering both convenience and a peaceful atmosphere. The food was consistently delicious and offered a great variety, from fresh local dishes with authentic Zanzibar flavors to international options that were equally well-prepared. Every meal felt special, with beautifully presented plates and high-quality ingredients. Breakfast was plentiful and always a great start into the day, while dinners often felt like a fine dining experience. We also treated ourselves to several relaxing massages during our stay, which were wonderful. On our last evening, a live band played during dinner, creating a truly memorable and special atmosphere. Although we didn’t make use of them, the hotel also offers the possibility to organize tours and activities, which is a great added bonus for anyone who wants to explore the surroundings. All in all, our stay was perfect in every way. I can highly recommend the Amani Boutique Hotel, we will definitely return in the future!

We had 2 rooms for the 4 of us for 5 nights. Everything was perfect or just about perfect. Location - in a quiet corner of Paje beach, 15-20m walk along the beach or 25m on street to the center of town. Away from most (not all) of the hawkers trying to sell you stuff. It’s 1h15m from Stone Town which we did in a day trip Staff - A+. Robert and his team in the kitchen/ restaurant were stellar. Front desk/ cleaning crew - all great and friendly Property - it’s small (14 rooms) which suited us. After an evening in the restaurant you recognize all the faces and make a friend or two. Wednesday evening was a cocktail and music evening. Rooms - good sized (not humongous), running hot water. Clean/ luxurious

I fully enjoyed my week at Amani hotel, I loved the location, which was a 10m walk from the busy part of Paje. The room was large and luxurious, and I found the bed very comfortable. The staff immediately changed my pillow to a much softer one when requested. Make sure you book a room with an ocean view, as it makes all the difference in the world. Many thanks to the entire staff for working hard to make our stay perfect. The only reason I gave the hotel 4 stars vs 5 is because there is construction next doors, though it is only heard from the room facing the construction site.
