Reviews for Villa Igiea, a Rocco Forte Hotel

Exceeded our expectations

It didn't seem there were many luxury hotels to chose from in Palermo, none of the big names, and we weren't sure what to expect. We travelled as a group where our friends stayed in two different high-end hotels in Palermo and we agreed this was hands down the best one. This hotel was all we could wish for. It is a one-off. It has so much history and character (art nouveau public spaces, beautiful gardens, atmospheric bar (which we loved!)), the food was sublime (but it's Italy, so hard to go wrong there), the rooms were exceptionally comfortable, well climate controlled and elegant. But as always what makes a stay perfect is the service - nothing was too much trouble for the staff, it was obvious everyone took pride in their roles and it was all very polished. The location is not properly in the center (about 8 minutes away in a car) because this hotel is by the sea (interesting views of the port - this is a city), which we also loved. I would definitely stay here if ever in Palermo, and you won't be dissapointed if you do too.

The General Manager, Achille Di Carlo, could not have been more understanding and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and a peaceful respite from bustling Palermo. Thank you to Achille and his amazing staff for making our stay memorable.

Nearly idyllic stay

We’ve just returned from a beautiful stay at Villa Igiea to celebrate our honeymoon. The hotel itself is stunning — gorgeous grounds, lovely interiors, and great restaurants. Breakfast, in particular, was a real highlight! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and our room was really comfortable. Overall, we had a very positive experience, but there are a couple of things worth mentioning. The hotel overlooks a working port on the right-hand side, where large ferries and ships are docked. These stay brightly lit through the night and can be noisy, unfortunately our room faced that way, so it did affect our sleep. It’s something we hadn’t expected, as it isn’t visible in any of the photos or videos of the hotel online. During our stay, there was also ongoing construction in the port area — we were told it was related to creating a private beach for the hotel next year. For five days, there was constant drilling, engine noise, and shouting from workers, which made it hard to fully relax as it was directly below the pool and sun loungers area. It’s a beautiful hotel with lots to offer, and we did enjoy our time overall it’s just a shame about the noise and light disturbance, which impacted an otherwise special trip.

An amazing hotel that acknowledge the concerns of guests and visitors and rectify without complaint

Following an unpleasant expereince with a staff member, Guest Relation Manager Dalila Alfano swiftly rectified the problem in the most professional manner. I was impressed by her commitment to assisting me and because of her I will be recommending this amazing place to my colleagues. I also wish to congratulate staff at the restaurant Roy and Marco who were extremely kind and the service they both and others provided was impeccable.
