My husband and I brought our 20 year old on a semi business/ spring break family trip. If you have small kids this is a very family friendly resort that I would highly recommend. If you are a couple - its still great - just know there are going to be a ton of children in the main pool area that houses the swim up bar. There is a peaceful adult pool around the corner with plenty of chairs and cabana rentals with TVs, fridges, ect. Cabana's ranged from 450.00 to 975.00 to rent depending on proximity to the beach. They also had "cabanas" that were essentially a two person lounger and a regular pool chair with a small table and umbrella situated in front of the pool area facing the beach for 75.00 per day. They also has the palapas beach spots you could rent for 60.00 per day. While the pool area was busy we didn't have a problem procuring a chair on the adult side each day so we had no need to rent. I could see it being an issue on more peak times though. People do go down first thing and claim their chairs for the day so to get a good spot you need to be an early riser. The food at the pool area is typical of what you would expect from a beach side resort. Beach access was great. Resorts are all very close together so we strolled beach side and checked out the other resorts and felt like the Hyatt seemed to have the best hotel grounds, pool area and chairs - ect. Some of the other resorts had some very cute bars and food places that any one could access that were right on the beach. The Hyatt restaurants were good, drinks were mostly good. We didn't get the try the steak house unfortunately but i heard it was really good and had excellent reviews. Overall the staff was 50/50 with friendly vs not so much. I feel that was pretty indicative of the island as a whole. Some friendly and some not friendly at all. It is very loud on the weekends in the evenings. The lobby bar below out room was swinging well after midnight when we arrived on Sunday and it was a bit difficult to get to sleep. They also start playing music at the pool area pretty early at a pretty loud volume. Since this was a semi work trip there were 3 catered dinners and one buffet breakfast that was company hosted for the 60 company employees and their spouses and/or families. The hotel did an excellent job with each one - so if you are planning an event or wedding they have it down to a science. Two of the dinners were right on the beach. The sunsets were amazing and the 1st beach dinner was carnival themed and had carnival dancers. Decor was great for each dinner, buffet style food was good as well as the hosted bar and dessert table. Overall the trip was very nice, the hotel and amenities were very nice. Views and grounds were top notch. Rooms were clean and up to date and our view from the balcony was gorgeous of the grounds and the ocean.

Location is great if you want to be in the main resort area. Walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Easy to get a taxi to go further out. We felt safe walking around with our kids. The rooms themselves are nothing to spectacular. Honestly felt like your average Holiday Inn room. They have a sliding door to open and a balcony barely wide enough to step out onto. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. We were brought brand new towels daily even if ours were hanging up from before. The pool area is nice, as is the beach area. Getting a chair at either is sort of a pain as you must reserve months ahead of time AND still claim them by 9am. Lots of tour companies right on the beach outside of the resort. Nice if you want to use one, but also an eyesore to see so many boats parked out in the ocean. Be prepared to have locals asking to braid your hair $$$ or give massages as soon as you hit the sand. Most of the staff were very kind, but island time is a real thing-so order your food about an hour before you will be hungry. Overall-it’s a very nice resort, but for the price we weren’t overwhelmed by it.
