On the Spanish Island of Majorca perched on the hill high above Palma, sits the Castillo Hotel Son Vida. A thirteenth century castle that was home to the noblemen who governed the area, Castillo Hotel Son Vida became a luxury hotel in the 1960s, and has continued to provide service, amenities and accommodations fit for royalty. Surrounded by subtropical parks, and the Son Muntaner, Son Quint and Son Vida championship golf courses, guests of Castillo Hotel Son Vida are privy to spectacular views. A true resort atmosphere promises guests an ideal blend of relaxation, sport and sensory pleasure, while the rich history of the island provides countless diverting excursions into town and along the sandy beaches. Live like Majorcan nobility at the Castillo Hotel Son Vida.

First, this is a Marriott property and you can get all the Marriott credits. Second, it is by all measures a 4 star hotel. No where no how can this ever be 5 star. The hotel is neglected old Castle. There is charm in being in a Castle. The Son Vidas area is considered private and upscale and many rooms offer nice pastoral, golf course and ocean views. The spa is coed , clothing is optional and May guests are naked. This may not be comfortable for some travelers. In fact, nudity even extends to the pool and spa. To each his/her own. The breakfast is very limited. Think travel lodge that’s 2-3 star. There are no fresh juices. The bar food did not agree with me and dinner at the restaurant was very limited. There are many older German guests and some asian guests. The staff are generally polite.

Always wanted to go there one but every time I refrained from booking by seeing the old-fashioned pictures. Finally booked a night and I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality offered: staff, bed quality (Frette!) and excellent breakfast (despite rather limited choice). I’ve given only 4 stars due to the indeed old-fashioned decoration and interior architecture. An update would certainly be welcomed.

Spent 4 days here. An amazing experience and a great hotel experience. 13th century castle transformed into a luxury hotel. Marble and amazing stone work throughout and well decorated with paintings and artifacts from the era. Great service and facilities with well designed rooms and common areas. Beautiful salt water pool. Only downside was the lack of a suitable smoking area. There was a spot however it wasn’t covered and if and when it rains, this resort fails miserably compared to much lower end hotels that have taken this customer experience scenario as equally important to the interior design.

We recently spent 7 days at this hotel as part of a 5-day global offsite with 49 colleagues, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything felt seamless and effortless. Even though the hotel was at full capacity, it never once felt crowded, the atmosphere was calm, spacious, and private, as though we had the place to ourselves. The rooms were stunning, the food was out of this world, and the service throughout was absolutely flawless. Every single detail exceeded expectations and elevated our entire event to another level. Special thanks must go to Cristina and the hotel team, who managed every detail and accommodated all of our (many!) changes in the lead-up to the offsite with such professionalism and care. During our meetings, Siad was exceptional! Always there, anticipating our needs and making sure everything ran perfectly. This hotel and team made our offsite not just successful, but truly memorable. If you are looking for a high-end experience with service and quality at the very highest level, I cannot recommend them enough.

This is a beautiful historic hotel set in a fabulous location. Only 15 minutes from Palma where we spent most evenings. Three fantastic golf courses with a shuttle from the hotel and back although we seemed to catch the return pick up whenever there was an hour between pick ups rather than the usual half hour which meant we taxied back - frustrating. The golf caddies did look after our clubs though and ensured they were at the right course ready for our next round - hassle free. Rooms were ok albeit a little dated lack of plugs near a mirror and views were mediocre. The service was poor which is why I gave it 4/5. Breakfast disorganised with some of our party waiting over 30 minutes for coffee, no turn down one night in our room, slow at the pool bar to take orders for drinks or food, they were servicing the pool and bar with not enough staff. They did apologise and we had some free drinks but sadly this doesn’t make it 5* in our opinion. I have seen a few other recent reviews saying the same.
