On the Spanish Island of Majorca perched on the hill high above Palma, sits the Castillo Hotel Son Vida. A thirteenth century castle that was home to the noblemen who governed the area, Castillo Hotel Son Vida became a luxury hotel in the 1960s, and has continued to provide service, amenities and accommodations fit for royalty. Surrounded by subtropical parks, and the Son Muntaner, Son Quint and Son Vida championship golf courses, guests of Castillo Hotel Son Vida are privy to spectacular views. A true resort atmosphere promises guests an ideal blend of relaxation, sport and sensory pleasure, while the rich history of the island provides countless diverting excursions into town and along the sandy beaches. Live like Majorcan nobility at the Castillo Hotel Son Vida.

Visited at a quiet time in April….. can’t fault the hotel, genuinely beautiful, stunning art everywhere you look, views out to the sea and the city of Palma are a pleasant backdrop. Gym great, we don’t use the spa but looked nice. Breakfast as good as any hotel didn’t use the restaurant but ate at the roof terrace once, no complaints! As with most high end hotels, it’s the level of attention from the staff which sets it apart… every interaction was pleasant… the manager arranged a cocktail evening to meet the guests which was a lovely touch.. The morning yoga was a refreshing start to the day and the instructor was excellent Old world charm, beautiful decor and both our room and the pool area were a pleasure to enjoy. Thankyou hotel Castillo Son Vida for such a lovely visit.

Spectacular hotel with views of Palma that cannot be bettered. Terrific staff, breakfast is mega, brand new restaurant, poolside is refined….the list goes on.

Pretty hotel, but definitely not a 5 star experience. Was not informed ahead of our stay (or even at check-in) that the hotel was undergoing a large, loud renovation project during our stay. No apology for inconvenience, note on website or offer of discount was given. We paid extra for a balcony that we couldn’t use because the outdoor renovations were directly in front of our room and banging hammers, and buzz saws were constantly going and piles of discarded carpeting & construction mess were obstructing our view. Not worth the price we paid. Very disappointing stay.

First, this is a Marriott property and you can get all the Marriott credits. Second, it is by all measures a 4 star hotel. No where no how can this ever be 5 star. The hotel is neglected old Castle. There is charm in being in a Castle. The Son Vidas area is considered private and upscale and many rooms offer nice pastoral, golf course and ocean views. The spa is coed , clothing is optional and May guests are naked. This may not be comfortable for some travelers. In fact, nudity even extends to the pool and spa. To each his/her own. The breakfast is very limited. Think travel lodge that’s 2-3 star. There are no fresh juices. The bar food did not agree with me and dinner at the restaurant was very limited. There are many older German guests and some asian guests. The staff are generally polite.

Always wanted to go there one but every time I refrained from booking by seeing the old-fashioned pictures. Finally booked a night and I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality offered: staff, bed quality (Frette!) and excellent breakfast (despite rather limited choice). I’ve given only 4 stars due to the indeed old-fashioned decoration and interior architecture. An update would certainly be welcomed.
