About the Hotel

At only 20 minutes from touch-down to sand, El Mangroove is a contemporary boutique hotel with a unique personality. It contains 85 bohemian-chic suites surrounded by forest, beach and mangrove that are only steps away from the ocean. Large rooms, with seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, create a comfortable and relaxing haven. The suites are situated within 3 two-story buildings, which are set in front of glass-like water mirrors and nestled amongst the mangrove. The two on-site restaurants Matiss and Makoko offer a combination of laid-back modern cuisine and sensorial gastronomy. Service is personalized and attentive; guests call it outstanding. The resort captures the simplistic yet exotic character of Costa Rica, with natural wood furnishings, regional artwork and contemporary stone finishes. We just stayed in one of the villas and it was amazing. The resort was beautiful and the staff were awesome. I would highly recommend and we would definitely stay here again

My wife and I had an amazing stay at El Mangroove. The staff made us feel welcome with their kindness and great hospitality. The location is beautiful, right in the Gulf of Papagayo, surrounded by nature and offering the perfect balance of relaxation and luxury. The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, making our stay truly enjoyable. Costa Rican breakfast was delicious, especially the gallo pinto with eggs and fresh cheese—something we really enjoyed during our stay. A special thank you to Nomad Tours Costa Rica for all the great recommendations during our transportation from La Fortuna to Peninsula Papagayo. We also had an incredible experience at Buena Vista Adventure, where we enjoyed ziplining, hanging bridges, and relaxing in the hot springs. Everything was perfectly organized. Thanks to Ronald and Julio for making this experience so special!

Electricity goes out all the time which means your a/c resets to HOT. Most of the water activities advertised were not available during our stay because they were broke. Only reason for 2 stars instead on one is a FEW members of the staff that were very good. Stay anywhere else.

We had an amazing stay at the El Mangroove, Autograph Collection. Although it is a smaller boutique hotel, it is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and very well maintained. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious, and the staff made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The beachfront location and relaxed atmosphere made our vacation truly special. The hotel is known for its contemporary design, oceanfront setting, and personalized service. We also booked our transportation and tours with Issys Tours CR, and everything was excellent from start to finish. The transfers were always punctual, professional, and comfortable. The tours were well organized, and the team went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience exploring Costa Rica. Thank you to Issys Tours CR for helping make our vacation unforgettable. We highly recommend both El Mangroove Hotel and Issys Tours CR to anyone visiting Guanacaste!
