At only 20 minutes from touch-down to sand, El Mangroove is a contemporary boutique hotel with a unique personality. It contains 85 bohemian-chic suites surrounded by forest, beach and mangrove that are only steps away from the ocean. Large rooms, with seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, create a comfortable and relaxing haven. The suites are situated within 3 two-story buildings, which are set in front of glass-like water mirrors and nestled amongst the mangrove. The two on-site restaurants Matiss and Makoko offer a combination of laid-back modern cuisine and sensorial gastronomy. Service is personalized and attentive; guests call it outstanding. The resort captures the simplistic yet exotic character of Costa Rica, with natural wood furnishings, regional artwork and contemporary stone finishes. The beautiful spa, fitness center and long, cabana-flanked swimming pool make up the perfect mix of indulgence and barefoot luxury.

Spent 5 days at El Mangroove Hotel in Guanacaste, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink and a cool towel, a great way to start our vacation. Our room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable, with beautiful views of the ocean and lush green surroundings. The pool area was relaxing and well maintained, and the staff throughout the hotel were always friendly and attentive. Transportation around the property was easy, and everything felt very organized. Overall, it was a relaxing stay in a beautiful natural setting We searched for local companies in Guanacaste and found nomadtourcr, and it was totally worth it! The hike to the waterfall was amazing, surrounded by wildlife and lush nature. Ronald was very informative, and we also enjoyed some fun adventures and water activities. Everything was perfectly Highly recommended El Mangroove and Nomad.

The rooms are quirky and the constant music in all the public areas might be annoying, but these issues are offset by the friendliness of the hotel staff, the pool facilities and the access to the public beach immediately in front of the hotel. Dining at the hotel was well done with the staff highly attentive and personable. We visited this hotel when there were very few guests and thus our experience may be different if the hotel were busy. We especially liked the adult only pool (and yes, this is policed by staff) but families with children will also like the much larger family pools. Do not expect that your Marriott status will be recognized with an upgrade. Seating in the restaurant seems determined by your room rate and thus you might find yourself always seated in the back facing a hedge (rather than the pool). Asking nicely to move might solve that issue. While the hotel is good value (our rate was around $225/night), the cheaper rooms are small and the weird layout doesn't help. One word of caution, try not to be on in the rooms immediately overlooking the carport/entrance. Both the traffic noise and the constant music will not be relaxing. (That said, it is very quiet at night). The hotel is also less than 40mins from Liberia Airport. Would consider staying here again.

Our sunset cruise was absolutely amazing! We came for our honeymoon and had the best time. Gracie and captain Pablo truly made our experience unforgettable — Gracie took us snorkeling, and we even caught a tuna! Pablo prepared the most delicious fresh sashimi right on the boat, played great music, and created the perfect vibe as we watched the prettiest sunset. It was the highlight of our trip. We’ll definitely be back next year! 🌅🐠🎶 #puravida

Mangroove is a beautiful small hotel with a boho-chic vibe. The staff is incredibly kind, Pablo the concierge and Gerant and Henry at the pool service were super helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel important! The location is ideal if you want to visit the rainforest, surf in Tamarindo or hike one of the volcanos, all within 1h drive!

El Mangroove remains one of my favorite hotels in the world. Flawless property with multiple pools - so beautiful - and gorgeous chocolate sand beach with v calm water, v natural with the trees coming right down onto the beach. You can’t go wrong with any room - this is my fifth visit to El Mangroove and every room is beautiful with great bed and sitting area. I loved my Habitat Superior this trip with an outdoor egg-shaped hammock-style chair. The real prize at El Mangroove, though, is the excellent staff. The room housekeepers do a beautiful and thoughtful job - they check if you need more coffee pods or bottled water and refill without being asked. And the front desk, valet and restaurant staff could not be better - kind, thoughtful, real people. Standouts this trip were William (manager), Victor on loan from another Enjoy Hotel property, Isaac and Antonio at Valet, Kervin Orlando Armando in Matiss/Makoko. I feel v cared for at El Mangroove. It remains an outstanding value, in great location, less than 30 minutes from the Liberia airport. Thank you to all at El Mangroove and see you again soon, Grace
