What a big let down. Not a place my family will be returning to.

My family's vacation to Atlantis was not enjoyable or relaxing. During our entire stay, we encountered numerous staff members who were rude and dismissive to me and my family. Some of the staff we dealt with were very nice and super friendly, showing genuine care about their job. The majority of the rest of the staff we dealt with were rude, dismissive, and seemed as though they did not like tourists or want to be working at a place with people on vacation. Upon check-in, I provided my Marriott Bonvoy member number to the staff member, and he assured me the number was attached to the reservation. It never was; I checked several times throughout the stay, and the number was never entered properly by the hotel staff. The mandatory 15% gratuity on absolutely everything you buy was excessive and never explained ahead of time. I don't leave gratuity for Grab-N-Go shops, and you are forced to pay that. Go to Starbucks for coffee, and you will still pay the mandatory 15% gratuity. If I did receive service from someone, it is up to my discretion what gratuity I leave them. Many times, the service was subpar and not worth any type of gratuity, let alone 15%. The grounds and overall look of the hotel and resort were quite shabby and run-down. Broken walls and fixtures were seen throughout the resort facility. There was garbage and cups strewn all over the place, with staff never taking a moment to look around and pick them up. When we went snorkeling, there was a tremendous amount of garbage and plastic items at the bottom of the lagoon. I would expect more from a country and resort brand that prides itself on protecting the ocean and sea life. Our room was also shabby, rundown, and not what we would expect from a Marriott property. The beds were very uncomfortable and sunken in on the edges. The room had a lovely view of the roof of the Valet/Car/Shuttle drop-off area. On several mornings, around 7 am, my family was gently awakened to the sound of a leaf blower for 20-30 minutes. When we tried to rent a kayak, I asked for 1 Double and 2 Single rides for 30 minutes. The person who checked me out first charged us for paddleboarding, which I never asked for. Once we got that corrected, I was charged for one double and one single rider and was told we had to split the time for the single rider. There were plenty of kayaks available, and no one else was doing it. I had to explain several times that I wanted an additional single-rider kayak, which finally took a manager to simply charge me for one more 30-minute single rider. We did enjoy the aquariums and the ability to see a lot of fish, sharks, and other sea creatures. That at least was enjoyable. The prices for everything being so expensive, plus the mandatory 15% gratuity, combined with the sour attitude of the staff and rundown look and feel of the entire resort, made our trip feel like it wasn't worth it at all. I would have rather spent the money on another resort or destination where they appreciate and respect their guests and provide an exceptional level of hospitality. I never felt welcomed at the Atlantis Resort and will probably never return to this property or the Bahamas again.

Wonderful Family Vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We were pleasantly surprised with our recent family visit to Atlantis. The facilities were nice, expansive, and provided enjoyment for the entire family. There were many options on pools, beaches, and water adventures during the day and many choices for eating and entertainment at night. The entire family thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we look forward to going back !

Thin line between love and hate

Resort was awesome and clean. However staff is by far the worst I’ve ever seen, worst attitude ever encounter at a resort. Power at room/resort kept going off, oh but the casino never once lost power, refrigerator was working even after it was replaced. Food was bad and overpriced however resort was kept clean and has variety of activity choices to keep you and family busy. Felt unwelcome, treated lawful and felt uncomfortable. Been to many resort different parts of the world and this one is by far the worst in service.

Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Unfortunately you experienced an issue with the electricity while we were there. We had two days of our vacation disrupted by electrical outages which resulted in us having to walk up 12 flights of stairs one day and down 12 flights the other. This caused my wife to have extreme anxiety and unfortunately didn't make our anniversary trip worth it.
