Six star service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed at Mountain Shadows for our daughter’s birthday and had a really great experience, especially thanks to John Kevin. He took care of us several days at the pool and was always friendly, attentive, and easygoing. It was hot out, so the frozen piña coladas for the adults and virgin ones for the kids were a huge hit. By the end of the trip, the kids were more excited to see John than the pool! One moment that really stood out: my daughter accidentally knocked over my wife’s drink, and before we could even say anything, John was already coming over with towels and replacing it with a fresh one. Small thing, but it honestly said a lot about the level of service and attention he gave everyone around him. Since we were celebrating a birthday, he also made our daughter feel really special throughout the trip. He remembered her name, joked around with the kids, and always made a point to check in with us whenever he saw us at the pool. It never felt forced or over the top — just genuinely good hospitality. Mountain Shadows is a beautiful property, but interactions like that are what people actually remember afterward. Really appreciate everything John did to help make the trip special for our family.

This is the hidden gem cliche

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

It feels like a lot of the time with our travels we're either posting about either poor experiences or 'meh' ones. Ironically that means when we find something that exceeds our expectations we half jokingly wonder whether we should give the secret away. Well, for this place we think its only fair to repay their friendly professionalism with a glowing review. 1. Service: Literally everyone we engaged with was very professional, friendly and on top of their game. This is not normal. 2. Pools: The two pools with the hot tub looked nice, but as childless curmudgeons we eschewed the screaming kids to go to the adult sunset pool. It was excellent in all ways, from being mostly empty to having good and easy drinks service from Rusty's behind the pool. We enjoyed the depth of 5' in the middle with 3' at the sides and a bench in the pool that you could sit on. Complimentary Sunbum sunscreen was also a nice touch. 3. Grounds: The grounds, hotel fixtures and decor were all nice looking and well maintained. 4. Room/Bathroom: They did go with something different in that although the shower was a big glass cube, there was a curtain separating that section from the bedroom, for those people not feeling particularly saucy or voyeuristic. Also, thank god they actually have a full door to the toilet with a fan...amazingly not something we can expect any more from hotels these days. The balcony overlooking the pool was great, and we had room service dinner there enjoying the sunset and view. 5. Nightlight: Although the closet door was closed, there seemed to be a motion sensor that triggered it if you went to the bathroom. Just enough light to see your way through. Another nice touch. 6. TV: The TV was a very decent size, and it had a Chromecast option that allowed any of your apps on your phone to connect to the TV so you could stream your shows without having to worry about logging out the next day. It was a bit tricky to work since the main menu option didn't work, butit did in via a Chromecast "channel" within the TV guide, and it was nice to watch one of our shows from Max (not all streamers worked, Apple didn't but that's on them) 7. Room Service: This was not the usual price gouge. $4 charge and an added 22% tip was not bad at all. The wine list was not available online but we described what we wanted on the phone and the sommelier chose a very nice full bodied Cab in our price range, just what we wanted. We were also able to order off the bar menu and not just the dinner menu, which was nice. Although we don't usually do this, shout out to Rachel who handled our room service requests with aplomb. 8. Chase: For those booking via Chase/The Edit, you get exceptional value as you have very generous meal credits for brunch, along with a $100 discount. We felt spoiled. A couple of minor cons. I ordered the Wagyu Tagliatelle and didn't really like it (lacked depth and flavor), which was disappointing given the cost. However, every other meal was terrific and the brunch at Hearth in particular was so good I ordered the same thing the next day. Also, the speakers around the property were very tinny and sounded like old school AM radio. Hopefully an upgrade here will bring them a nice ROI because its not hard to have a modern sound system that sounds great indoors or outdoors. That said, the volume level was excellent everywhere. All in all we would come back here in a heartbeat and very much enjoyed our stay.
