Don't Hesitate.....GO!!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

My husband and I stayed at the Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain for a few days at the start of a several week trip to celebrate a milestone anniversary. It was absolutely stunning and a totally wonderful stay! Pedro and Mali greeted us at the front desk, they coordinated our unit which was a beautiful large king casita, and made sure that all of our questions about the property were fully answered. The young men at the valet made sure we found our casita and took care of our bags. Our casita was a dream and was appointed with high end finishes....we could not have asked for more comfortable accommodations! We had a short walk to the pool, main dining room, and lounge which we loved as the walk was along beautifully landscaped lawns and beds of indigenous flowers that were stunning. Somehow they managed to take cactus of many varieties and many other flowers and shrubs and put them together in a way that seemed totally natural and untouched! Every day the hummingbirds were flying around the flowers and bushes! We got to spend one full day at the beautiful infinity pool where service was stellar! Someone escorted us to the chairs we selected, they set up the chairs with towels, they positioned the umbrella to our liking, providing a big pitcher of ice water, and provided a menu for our review. Often seen good service but these folks were beyond good....they kept us well hydrated by noticing when the water pitcher needed more ice and taking our beverage and food orders which came out really quickly! Loved the fact that the hotel had various float devices to use in the pool as well! We had breakfast in the main dining room (Elements) the two days we stayed at the Sanctuary and also ate dinner there. Had a great table for dinner and we watched the sun setting over the valley. My husband had the filet and it was perfectly cooked and I had the braised beef which melted in my mouth! For dessert we shared a piece of chocolate cheesecake - couldn't begin to describe it other than to say...wow...it was really good! Again service was meticulous and our waiter Bill was fantastic. It was clear to us that exceptional service is a critical philosophy and it showed from top to bottom. We compared the service we received at other high end properties we stayed out over the next several weeks (other locations in AZ) and the Sanctuary was always at the top. I would gladly stay there again and again!

Perfection

The name says it all —this is a true Sanctuary. From the moment you step foot on this resort, whatever stress you are seeking to escape will soon be melted away. Sanctuary Camelback Mountain has it all -- incredible views, luxurious rooms, impeccable grounds, tasty food, and to top it all off, a staff that understands how to provide a true luxury experience. You can tell everyone enjoys working there as they are always smiling, kind, and friendly. For the active crowd, there is a great fitness center that has everything you need for training, with a great lap pool outside as well. Add in tennis/pickleball courts, full spa, steam room, yoga/pilates studio and more, you can keep yourself busy for longer stays. Location is perfect as well as it is incredibly quiet while being just a 10-15 min ride to most of what Scottsdale has to offer. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for -- and Sanctuary is worth every penny. Highly, highly recommend.

The hotel is great but a few drawbacks

My wife and I just returned from a weeklong stay at Sanctuary. It was our 2nd visit, the first being 3 years ago. There were a couple of things about this stay that would probably keep me from returning but first, the good things about the property because I do want to be fair. Sanctuary is an absolutely beautiful property. The grounds, the pool, the spa, all of it is perfect. From the front desk to the waiters at the bar, restaurant, and the pool, the hospitality is 10/10. I also cannot say enough about the spa. My wife and I both went to the spa twice during our stay and the treatments were amazing so is the spa atmosphere. Everything we drank and/or ate was really good from sushi at Jade Bar to morning coffee and everything in between. Now for the two things that left a sour taste in my mouth. First, nowhere on their website or on any of the emails I received just before the trip was it mentioned that construction would be ongoing on property during our stay and about 100 feet from the pool nonetheless. My idea of a quiet weeklong getaway is not the sounds of jackhammers, saws, heavy machinery, diesel generators, and the incessant beeping of vehicles and machinery backing up. This went on all week and we were told construction would take probably 3 months. Not much of a sanctuary. We stayed at the pool for 2-3 hours every other day but could not take any more than that. I would not visit for the next three months period. Also, I’ve never stayed at a hotel that did not announce construction on their website. That is very deceptive. Second and lastly, the thermostats in the room only go down to 70 degrees. The problem with that is the thermostat is not in the bedroom so the bedroom never really cools off very well. The rooms at Sanctuary are brick and not very well insulated. The ac ran 24/7 and the room never quite felt cool, especially the bedroom. A resort that presents itself as luxury should allow guests to at least sleep at a comfortable temp. Again, I would not stay there during the summer months if you prefer a cool room. While I cannot say enough good things about the people and amenities at Sanctuary, a warm room and no warning about construction on their website will have me looking elsewhere on my next trip to Scottsdale.

The views were breathtaking, the pillows were soft, the bed was super comfy, the food was delicious, and the customer service was impeccable. I will definitely come again because it was all so amazing, and I left feeling refreshed, renewed, and rejuvenated.

Stay at Sanctuary Camel Back in Scottsdale

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This was a beautiful resort. The grounds were beautiful. The bed was very comfy with plush pillows. I had a massage and it was so relaxing and the Spa was beautiful and very clean on the inside. The workout facility was really nice with new equipment and my husband really enjoyed his workout each day during our stay. We had the Mountain Suite King which was a beautiful view. The food at Jade and Elements was excellent. I would highly recommend this resort to couples. The staff was so welcoming and always made sure that are needs were met during our stay. If you are wanting to leave the resort....they will transport you to areas such as Scottsdale Fashion Square, Old Town and any other area as long as it was within the assigned radius.

Just returned from a trip that included a four-night package at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain. The level of service cannot be overestimated. At the pool it took no more than two minutes for someone to bring glasses of ice water with lemon - every chaise was covered with a lounge cover and a fresh towel waiting under an opened umbrella. The quality of the food was exceptional as well. I cannot tell you what a splendid experience this was. Thanks for the opportunity!
