Hotel Balzac Paris is in the heart of the City of Light. Parisian-chic design, a vibrant color palette and soft lighting drape this property—part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts—in warm elegance, setting the tone for an exceptional experience. Built for the director of the Paris Opera in 1853, this deluxe townhouse-style boutique hums with the French art de vivre, serving as a plush sanctuary for rest and relaxation and a central headquarters for your Parisian holiday. Honoré de Balzac, the prolific and influential writer for whom the hotel is named, once made his home on the site, and collections of antique books and lithographs depicting the author and scenes from his work adorn the property. 13 suites and 57 rooms marry opulent details like oak-floored entrances and marble bathrooms to state-of-the-art technology, including LCD televisions, cable and internet access. Romantic skyline views of the exquisite Eiffel Tower from the third floor up are available by special request.

This hotel is a gem with its incredible staff being its greatest asset. The location is more than convenient as it’s located just off the Champ and near the George V Metro stop, providing easy access to all of Paris. I highly encourage the water taxi along the Siene for sight-seeing - easily accessible near the Eiffel. The rooms are attractive and nicely appointed with great towels. The bar features unique and delicious cocktails, although they come at the hefty price of more than €20, so be prepared. Our only true disappointment came in the breakfast, an amenity for which we had in part selected the hotel. When and if it arrived at the table it was truly delicious, but the long wait times and general chaos, made it impossible for our tight schedule. I hope that they can work things out in the kitchen. For me, then, it would be 5 stars. Still highly recommend, but be advised of the shortcomings. One last word of advice - the restaurants recommended by the Concierge had wonderful atmosphere but not so delicious food and all had very high price tags. We did much better on our own and found some great places with incredible food with bonus of being in most cases half the price. I’ve reviewed a few if you’re interested to see.

- Beautiful hotel, Jihad and Patrick are the best concierges and so helpful, will get anything arranged in Paris - from last minute dinner bookings to private tours of Louvre and other galleries, collecting Amazon packages - they are really 2 great assets for the hotel - Rooms very comfortable and will appointed but no power sockets to charge multiple devices (I still don't get why hotels don't think of this) - have to unplug the lamp to charge my phone by the bedside, 1 bottle of complimentary filtered water per day -- again water should just be complimentary in hotels like this, as much as you want, whenever you want! House keeping wasn't great - sorry to state by the house keeper had very strong BO and we found shattered pieces of glass in our room! Should not happen at a Relais and Chetau / 5 star property - Breakfast is a complete joke -- they gave up their lobby to a restaurant, so breakfast is served in a lounge area with too few seats for hotel guests and sitting on a couch to eat breakfast is just not easy. Waited 50 mins on day 1 to get a basic European breakfast -- again if you are running a 5 star establishment and know that most people are going to have breakfast before heading out, need to staff up. There were just 2 waiters serving about 20 guests and they are helter skelter like this is the first time doing breakfast service in their life Overall a great hotel but needs work on the softer dining, housekeeping efforts which will make it a great hotel.

My wife and I booked this hotel thru a great travel agent during our first scheduled trip to Paris. We flew into London from the states and took the EuroStar from London to Paris. We researched many hotels prior and landed on Balzac because it had a great location and looked beautiful. Upon arrival, we were fortunate enough to meet the hotel Concierge, Jihad Salman. Jihad was a life saver for us and we leaned on him and his expertise more than any other concierge in our lives. We came in late in the afternoon, let Jihad know that we didn't have any dinner plans and he booked us at a beautiful spot within 45 minutes. He took care of dinner the next day and setup a driver on our third day in Paris to take us around the city. I encourage anyone visiting Paris for the first time to seriously consider this hotel and the value that the personnel provide to an out of country guest. If you read this, thank you Jihad! You made our experience far better than it would've been without you and we are grateful and excited for the next time we are able to visit Paris again!

First time staying at Hotel Balzac. My usual “go to” hotels were booked. The hotel is lovely and I will definitely return. The staff is kind and pays a lot of attention to all the details. The hotel design is beautiful - a little masculine. Very well kept. The bar is small and intimate and the food and drinks were excellent.
