Reviews for Hotel Bowmann

Loved it

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

A jewel nested in the heart of Paris. Ancient authentic Parisian vibes, a bit rococo style. We loved it from the very beginning. We contacted the hotel to know the prices and we were guided by Sonia, who knew exactly how to address our requests. When we arrived and throughout our stay we were treated fondly by the staff, still being professional . The restaurant and spa (yes there is a spa) were the cherry on top and we just didn’t want to leave. Thank you all for this amazing stay.

Good hotel with a few minor issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Good hotel but had a few issues We recently booked 4 nights here in a Junior Suite. We arrived around 3pm and the room was ready. We had room 703 on the seventh floor. Note that of the three suites on this floor, 703 is the smallest. It only has one window. It did have a large walk in shower and a large jucuzzi tub. The bath and toilet are are segregated which is good. The only issue was that the floor in the toilet area is not heated but bath floor is heated. The toilet was a fancy electronic toilet with multiple functions. Problem is it never worked the entire time. Maintenance came in once, unplugged and plugged it back and left it not working. There is only one working elevator for the guests as the older “birdcage” elevator near the stairs looks to be indefinitely out of service. We never did have to wait for elevator through our entire stay. I would expect problems during full occupancy though. I had booked a mobile rate that included breakfast each morning. When I checked in they told me I had to pay for breakfast. After I got back from trip I emailed management and they stated I actually did have free breakfast but front desk wasn’t aware when I checked in. Bummer there. I should have probably asked earlier. If you plan to work from home I don’t think you will want to rely on the Wi-Fi here. It constantly went out for several minutes up to 4 hours at a time. We ended up just using our. Cell data as it was more reliable. One good thing about 703 is you have a great view of the northeast side of city. The windows open up to a Juliet balcony. The 5th floor has real balconies. I wanted to note that the employees there were more than willing to do anything we asked. One last thing we noticed is that on two of the days after room was cleaned it had a faint sewage smell to it. It’s an old building so my guess is a vent plugged up. We had to open up the windows to air it out. The hallways are musty smelling also; probably because of its age. The only other 5 star Paris hotel that I have stayed in was Hotel Elysia which is only about 15 minutes walk from this hotel. We found Elysia was little bit superior so if prices are close I would choose Elysia.

Surprised it’s a 5 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Reception staff is not as professional as a 5 star hotel. Not familiar with their amenities hours, pillows are extremely soft - even you request a firm one they will never give it to you. Only have free French TV channels - not even BBC or any international channels are available. Old TV which you cannot cast your phone to it as well. The room is not well maintained - the corner of the bed is already broken with scratches on the floor

Beautiful stay in Paris

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My husband and I traveled to Paris for our anniversary. Hotel Bowmann was our home base and it was incredibly beautiful and comfortable. A little bit of luxury without being over-the-top in price. Friendly staff across the board. Well-appointed guest rooms with beautiful finishes and comfortable beds. Nice location - not noisy or super busy on the street but close access to many sites (and plenty of metro stops). I’d definitely recommend!
