Beautiful, très chic Paris is in fine form at Les Jardins du Marais. Behind an unassuming façade on Rue Amelot in Marais, this Summit Hotels & Resorts property, part of the Preferred Hotel Group, adds a contemporary edge to 1930s glamour in rooms outfitted with plush purple carpeting and Macassar ebony furniture. Sunlight floods the lobby and restaurant through a glass roof, and blossoming flowers are everywhere. Nine renovated, historic buildings comprise the hotel – one used to house Gustave Eiffel’s workshop.

This is a comfortable hotel within easy reach of the sights. The room was small but nice, and the breakfast was very good. We were lucky that we had good weather, as you need to go outside across the courtyard to get to the breakfast room. I wouldn't recommend it for people with mobility problems because there are a lot of steps and uneven flooring to get into the building. Also, in our room, there was a step-in bath with the shower over the bath, but no handrail to help people with mobility problems to climb in safely. Maybe there are special rooms with walk-in showers if you ask. The staff were very helpful; they managed to find the passport that one of our party had left in the room and send it to the airport in time for the flight, for which we are extremely grateful!

This is a perfectly fine hotel in a very convenient location with a very good breakfast. We checked in very late in the evening after a long day sightseeing, however, we were a bit disappointed to find that our room was very strangely located outside the fire door at the top of some emergency fire stairs. It meant that I felt uneasy leaving our valuables there when we were out and most importantly, the room was very cold. The room itself was small with a tiny bathroom but for one night it was fine. Thankfully, the breakfast was very good. If you're expecting modern day four stars, this is not the hotel for you.

If you are looking for a true four-star hotel experience in Paris, don’t make our mistake. Read the reviews carefully and take them seriously. This hotel is a depressing, dated three-star property at best. The only redeeming quality is the courtyard, but considering how enormous the hotel is, it’s not difficult to invest in one attractive common area while leaving hundreds of rooms feeling neglected and subpar. The rooms are old, tired, and clearly designed to do the absolute minimum required to maintain a four-star rating. There is nothing refined or enjoyable about staying here. In fact, the room itself feels so bleak that our main goal became spending as little time in it as possible. There is no attention to detail whatsoever. Bathroom amenities consist of a shampoo/body wash combo only, no conditioner, no thoughtful touches, just the bare minimum. The complimentary tea is cheap Lipton. The wall-mounted hose hairdryer looks like it belongs in a budget hotel from 20 years ago. The lighting has the harsh glow of a McDonald’s. In a city as beautiful as Paris, the decor feels like a complete afterthought. The plastic silver wall lights are particularly awful. There is a visible lack of maintenance and cleanliness. The bathroom had grime and mildew buildup around the shower trim and sealant, deteriorating caulking, and visible mineral stains. These are not minor cosmetic issues, they are signs of a hotel that is no longer being properly maintained. The rooms also smell old, and the soundproofing is practically nonexistent. You hear everything. What makes the experience especially frustrating is how many corners feel intentionally cut. Our room included a small kitchenette with an old dishwasher and hot plate, yet the only dishes provided were two wine glasses and a sign saying additional items could be requested. It perfectly captures the overall feeling of the hotel: outdated features they don’t want to properly maintain or remove, combined with an unwillingness to spend money on basic guest comfort. Even the TVs feel outdated and restrictive. There is no practical way to stream or watch movies, which feels absurdly behind the times for a hotel at this price point. Some negative hotel reviews come down to a one-off mistake or bad luck, and I understand that things happen. But our issue was not a unique incident, it was the actual quality of the hotel itself. Some reviews suggest certain buildings or rooms are better than others, but we specifically asked to move rooms and ended up seeing five different rooms during our stay. They all had the same problems. So if you are hoping you might just get one of the “good” rooms, I would not count on it.

This hotel was perfect for us! Room was clean & beds are comfortable! Nice outdoor area to relax. Great neighborhood. Lots of restaurants within walking distance & a market a few doors down.

We recently celebrated our son’s birthday at Les Jardins du Marais and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Sadek was outstanding: attentive and provided everything we needed, and even more. Thanks to him, the whole organization was smooth and completely stress free. A big thank you as well to Julio, who did an excellent job with the seating plan and the set-up of the room. Everything was carefully thought through and perfectly arranged, which allowed all our guests, both children and parents, to have a wonderful time. We highly recommend Les Jardins du Marais for any birthday or family event, and we would not hesitate to come back for a future celebration.
