Good location near Eiffel Tower, although 20 minute walk. Hotel is created from several old buildings. We reserved several months ahead of time and had asked for a deluxe room. When we arrived - after check in time on reservation, we were told it would be about three hours before the room was ready as the current tenants were checking out late. Instead, we were given a room in a back building that had no elevator. To access, we had to walk a maze around a courtyard restaurant as the kept closing off access to the restaurant, which would have allowed a short, direct walk. The irony is that the restaurant wasn’t even open! The bed was worn out. Each morning I woke with a backache from sleeping in it. The 1/2 wall in the shower did not seal well to the tub, so the floor was essentially flooded every time we took a shower, unless we piped towels along the tub to catch the water. We had no problems with peeling paint, etc, as noted in some reviews, but this is not a place I’d recommend. Motel 8s in the US are better than this.

We recently stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our trip through France. We started with 5 days in Paris. We booked this hotel because we stayed here in 2022 and had a wonderful experience so we were looking forward to coming back. Unfortunately, our experience was not good. First was the check in process. While we were thanked for our Marriott loyalty (Platinum life time members), plus I made the reservation 9 months ago but we were informed that we were not able to be upgraded. The staff member acted like because we were paying with points (a LOT of points!), we were not eligible for anything. The room was small, old and in need of updating. Housekeeping was consistently late or nonexistent. The included breakfast was adequate but not up to the previous experience. One of our biggest disappointments was the garden. When we were there in 2022, we watched them build the new garden and stayed through the remodeling. We were looking forward to enjoying the garden. However, it is not for use by the hotel guests. It is a separate restaurant and a very expensive one at that. To the management of this hotel and to Marriott, I have been a loyal Marriott customer for over 20 years but I am seriously considering giving more of our travel business to other brands after this experience. We will not return to this hotel for future Paris visits.

The hotel is a little dated and could do with a refresh but is full of charm and character it’s a shame the same can’t be about the team. I am a regular user of Marriott and have to say I was so disappointed by the level of service at the hotel. When questioned the team just referred back to the management saying they were following instructions (non were big asks - a late checkout till 3 but was told had to pay for the last hour 2-3). I think the concept of customer service got a little lost and such a shame as all other stays the team have always gone the extra mile but sadly not here.

This hotel was not up to the standard it presents online. I'm not sure if I was treated poorly because I was traveling alone as a woman or because I used points. I am titanium elite with Marriott. and I into the very smallest and worst room in the hotel with only a tiny window hidden behind the cabinet and TV. No light into the room. This hotel is Not up to the standards of Marriott or the Renaissance brand. It was a horrible welcome to Paris for my very first time. I had booked this hotel months before and they knew I was coming. I was supposed to be there two nights and called Marriott 800 number to have them cancel my second day. When I was shown to my room I immediately asked them to change my room. It was not what I booked and because of my status with Marriott I should've gotten an upgrade from what I booked. They said they could not. The front desk woman who escorted me to my room (in another building) said a I booked a classic room, this is a classic room. But I booked a deluxe room. When I went back down to the front desk to show them I booked a deluxe and wanted a deluxe they then all the sudden said that room was a deluxe. It was a shoebox with a minuscule bathroom and not a deluxe. Part of the reason I chose this hotel was because it looked like a charming Paris hotel that could be in a movie. The courtyard with the bistro tables, plants and twinkle lights made it seem like I would have a lovely place to dine alfresco. The online portrayal is very deceptive. The patio was in shambles and nothing like the pictures. The plants were dead. Breakfast the next morning was not very welcoming either. The sign said wait to be seated so I did and nobody came. Finally I peaked around the corner and a woman started walking towards me and just waved me back towards a back room. I got back there and there and was pretty much ignored for a bit. Then they said to help myself to the buffet. They did not offer me anything off the a menu. Did not offer me water. They put together a table next to me for a family that they somehow knew was going to sit there. When The Family got there they brought them carafes of water. I asked one of the five servers wandering around if they could get me some water and he said I had to go to the hallway and get it off of the self-serve area. Meanwhile The Family next to me was able to order custom food. The only person who treated me like a valued guest was the bartender.

We chose this hotel due to its excellent location & good reviews. The hotel employees throughout our stay were welcoming, helpful and friendly. However, this hotel is in dire need of a renovation. Our "upgraded" room was in poor condition: Moldy/musty odor, climate control that couldn't be regulated, old, damaged carpet, peeling paint, damaged/stained furniture. We had to open the windows to aerate the room, but the street noise was constant all night long. We were moved to another "upgraded" room for the remainder of our stay, which was quieter but still had a musty odor, & we surmised that the climate system throughout the hotel hadn't been properly maintained. The shower handle mechanism didn't hold in a fixed position. This room also had very old, stained carpet & damaged furniture, & consequently it didn't feel clean. The housekeeping was below average. Apparently no one bothered to vacuum the old carpet, which was apparent due to bits of plastic waste that were present on the carpet from the time we occupied the room. We only received turndown service on one of the nights of our stay. Further, the Marriott website indicated that the hotel provided L'Occitaine amenities, which it did not. Another brand was provided, which had a very powerful floral scent, so it didn't matter that the housekeeper failed to replace the empty products. We used other products that we fortunately had with us. There was supposed to be a Nespresso coffee machine in the room, but the machine provided was another brand & was incomprehensible to use. Given the disrepair of the rooms we occupied & misrepresented features, this was not a comfortable or pleasant stay & therefore a poor value. We would unfortunately not recommend this hotel unless and until it has had a complete renovation.
