Extremely Disappointing Check-In Experience — Left Me Feeling Singled Out I booked a four-night stay at Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg directly through the Accor app. As an ALL Platinum member, I expected professionalism, transparency and fair treatment. Unfortunately, my check-in experience was extremely disappointing. Two days before arriving, I called the hotel to request an early check-in around 9:00 AM. The gentleman I spoke with was very professional and clearly explained that it would be subject to availability. I completely understood and accepted that. I arrived at approximately 10:00 AM, completed and signed the check-in paperwork, and was told my room was not ready. I asked whether ANY other room was available, explaining that I was happy to pay extra for a higher category. I was told the hotel was fully booked and there were no rooms available. I went out for breakfast and a walk and returned at approximately 12:45 PM. My room was still not ready. Again, I asked whether ANY room was available. This time I made it even clearer: I was willing to pay for an upgrade OR even accept a lower-category room. Again, I was told that nothing was available. I was told that the staff would speak with the manager and get back to me, so I sat in the lobby directly opposite reception and waited. This is where the situation became very uncomfortable. While I was sitting there, I personally watched more than three guests arrive AFTER me, check in, receive their room keys and proceed to their rooms. I had also seen another guest receive a room key at approximately 10:00 AM earlier that morning. Nobody came back to update me as promised. When I eventually approached reception myself, I was told that my room would only be available at 3:00 PM. When I questioned how other guests who arrived after me were receiving rooms while I had repeatedly been told that there were no rooms available, the response suddenly became much less clear. At that point, frustrated by the contradictory explanations and treatment, I said that I no longer wanted to stay and asked for a refund. What happened next was remarkable. Within approximately TWO MINUTES of asking for a refund, I was told that they could have a room ready for me within about ten minutes. After spending hours being told that there were absolutely no rooms available, I find it very difficult to understand how the situation changed almost immediately after I asked to cancel my stay. To be very clear: my complaint is NOT that the hotel could not guarantee a 9:00 AM early check-in. I knew from the beginning that my request was subject to availability, and I had no problem with that. My complaint is about being repeatedly told that no rooms were available while I was sitting directly opposite reception watching guests who arrived after me receive keys and go to their rooms. It is about being promised an update that never came. And it is about a room suddenly becoming available only after I said I wanted to leave and requested a refund. I cannot say why I was treated differently, and I will not make an accusation that I cannot prove. However, the experience genuinely left me feeling singled out and discriminated against, particularly after watching several other guests receive rooms while I was repeatedly told that none were available. Being an ALL Platinum member does not mean I expect a hotel to create availability where none exists. I do, however, expect honesty, consistency, professionalism and equal treatment. For a Sofitel — and particularly a property of this level — this was an extremely disappointing way to begin a four-night stay. It has seriously changed my impression of this hotel and made me question whether I would return. The most frustrating part was never the wait. It was the way I was treated while waiting.

We had a fantastic time. The hotel is located right in the centre of Paris, breakfast was outstanding - quality over quantity, guests have an option to enjoy their meals in a little outdoor courtyard. Our suite was very comfortable but what made our stay really special was the incredible service. The staff were very attentive and provided exceptionally efficient yet friendly service. Thank you to Brendan, restaurant staff, housekeeping and everyone else we met.
